Meet Tom! He’s a 9 year old little tan beagle mix weighing about 35 pounds. He’s smaller than he looks in pictures! He’s super affectionate and sweet, and he loves kids. He’s fantastic with other dogs and loves to cuddle cats, too. Tom came to us because his owner became sick and unable to care for him. Tom is house trained and has good manners. Meet active and affectionate, 9-year-old Casey. Casey urgently needs to find a new home due to one-year-old twins in his current household. Casey’s current owners are overwhelmed with twin babies and Casey is looking for new people who have time and energy for him. Casey is a great size at only 35lbs and loves walks and hikes. He enjoys road trips, running errands and hanging out with his people. He’s been very good with kids over toddler age but does get nervous around the babies. A home with older kids is fine for him or a no kid household too. Casey is crate-trained and house-trained and not a chewer. He can be trusted out of his crate and quiet in the house- though he will make his presence known if someone comes to the door. Case is great on a leash and knows his basic commands. He loves people, loves to give kisses and is very approachable and loving! Casey loves multiple walks a day but is also content soaking up the sun on the front porch. He has not been around cats much so we’re not encouraging kitties. He listens and takes correction well and is food motivated so training is a breeze. We would like an adopter who is dog-experienced as we obviously want this to be Casey’s forever home. Ideally his new adopter is someone who likes having a companion with them many places they go and someone who's wants an exercise buddy and companion. He has not had a lot of dog socialization throughout his life. He has a few doggie friends that he is around a lot but seems to be fine when we walk him with others. He prefers dogs that are chill and just want to hang out and do their own thing and we will continue to work on his socialization. Ideally, he’d be ok with a no dog household too. Casey is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. His is currently in the Tacoma area and available to meet. Casey’s current owners love him and want him to have a better life. “He's a great boy who still has the energy of a youngster. He will be an amazing companion to someone who's somewhat active and who likes spending time with their dog while they're out doing things. Casey loves going to department stores, breweries, parks - you name it - and he really does love being with people. He especially loves hanging out on the porch or deck, soaking up the sun. He doesn’t mind the weather and minds you well. Yes, he might bark, but that bark alerted us to a home intruder years ago and we likely owe him our lives for that. Animal Profile: RJ is a small/ medium sized young adult (estimated 2 years and 30lbs) mixed breed from Hawaii with very adorable short little legs; he was a stray intake to the very full shelter and passed all his evaluations with flying colors. He gives good soft eye contact and dances like a meerkat (so cute!) when greeted. He is easy to leash and not sensitive with handling but lower on confidence scale. He is good sharing resources with other dogs. Politely sniffed cat -- seems to be familiar with cats. In the yard with dogs of other sizes he was more interested in sniffing and humans, but did not respond poorly to play attempts by other dogs. Foster Update: RJ has settled in wonderfully with his foster dad and the resident cat! His foster dad describes him as a happy-go-lucky, joyful pup who will make some lucky person/family a wonderful companion! RJ does really well settling into his crate, he’s happy to please so additional training should be easy. He needs to work on some basic commands and learn to pull less on walks but he’s got a really nice even-keel demeanor and is just happy to be with his person! We think RJ will be up for adventure. He’d be okay with other pets in the house or as the solo pup. We will continue to update his profile as we get to know him better. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Gemma is a very sweet and loving dog, she's still young (2 years). She has the typical Beagle and Dachshund behaviors and she gets bored so she needs an experienced adopter especially one familiar with small hunting breeds. She does not do well in the kennel and needs someone to be home during the day or a home without cats where she can be out while she's alone. We did a trial run with one family who had cats and they didn't keep her in the kennel while they were gone and had no issues, however her cats were stressed out so they weren't able to keep her, that's the reason why we're rehoming her, she needs a home without cats and we have a few.
