Story
Cain is an 8 month old Belgian Malinois who was recently brought into the Humane Society of the North Bay in Vallejo as a stray. He weighs about 52 lbs. and appears to be in good health. Cain is a good-natured, intelligent boy. He meets new people with ease, and does not shy away from strangers. While he can be jumpy and a little mouthy, he is very responsive to correction and his behavior improves when he is moved into a more relaxed environment. He has tested well with other dogs and enjoys a good game of chase with a little gentle wrestling on the side. He shows interest in cats but he has not been fully tested in that area. Cain enjoys going on walks but could benefit from some leash training. If his human companion dawdles he has been known to tug on his leash to get his handler's attention. Fortunately, Cain is smart and food-motivated, so training should be a breeze. He has already well on his way to mastering simple commands like "sit" and "come". As a young and active pup, Cain would do best with someone who could provide him the physical and mental stimulation he needs to thrive. Malinois are highly intelligent, active dogs that require a big training and exercise commitment. Without those needs met, the breed will become destructive, nervous, and naughty. But with the right handler, Cain will definitely earn his "good boy" badge. Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: Black Weight: 49 Age: 0yrs 11mths 1wks

Story
Loreen approached me on the street a few days ago. The local Humane Society shelter did not have space for her, and I didn't want to take her to the county shelter (that doesn't have a no-kill policy). I reported her to animal control and decided to foster her until she finds a permanent home. I took her to the vet for her first round of shots and deworming and can provide her records. Loreen is a very affectionate puppy of about 6 months who will grow up to be a pretty large dog. She is active and requires a lot of exercise. She seems to mostly be housetrained, but did have a couple accidents. She doesn't know commands yet, but seems to be a fast learner. She likes to be around people. You can expect normal puppy behavior (chewing, play-biting), which she should outgrow. We are keeping her separate from our dog and cat, so I am not sure how she would get along with other pets. Looking for a loving home where she could stay active and mentally stimulated.

Meet Arcee - one of our Transformer Pups! She was rescued from the Central Valley with her sister BB and has been in a foster home ever since. Arcee is currently fostered with two big dogs and they play really well. She also has a kitty in the home and is very respectful. She loves to play with other dogs and humans. Arcee is really smart, friendly and the life of the party. She has met tons of children and does well with them too. She really is a perfect, smart, affection gal! We recently did a DNA test on her and she is a mix of 4 breeds - American Staffordshire Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, Belgian Malinois and German Shepherd. Arcee has been diagnosed with Megaesophagus and requires livelong medication ($15/month) and feeding  meals upright - her adoption comes with her custom Bailey Chair. She really is a special gal and would love to be added to your family! Reach out and schedule a time to meet Miss Arcee today. Arcee's adoption fee has been covered by the Upright Canine Brigade.  California Pit bull Rescue is an official 501(c)(3) and requires an adoption application and $200 donation fee for all adoptions.April 17, 2024, 11:49 pm

Story
Meet Mavis! Mama Mavis came to us 2 days after giving birth in the shelter.  A shelter is not a place for a nursing Mama.  Mavis was a wonderful Mama to her littles, and they have all flown the coop. Now it is Mavis's time to find her forever home! Mavis was fearful of many new things, so as a rescue we decided to send her to board and train.  During her time in board and train she was expose to many different elements, and also basic training.  She has matered the program!  She is the sweetest most cuddliest Mal there ever was.  She absolutly loves her person.  She will make a wonderful companion.  She is dog friendly and we believe she is cat workable as she has no prey drive.  Mavis will make a wonderful running or hiking budy.  Mavis can have the Mal energy, but also is fine to chill.   ps She loves to lay right next to you on the couch! Adult: 1-6 yrs $400.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm and microchip each dog as well as spay or neuter. Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. It should be noted that our adoption counselors know the dogs and can best guide any possible adopter with a suitable match. Please visit https://www.calpaws.org/available-dogs for the adoption application! We are always in need of experienced fosters for the amount of dogs we have coming in. Being a foster is such a rewarding experience. If you are interested please review https://www.calpaws.org/fostering ##2017877##

These pups are in Benicia, California too!

Story
My name is Asteroid, and I am a gorgeous 2 yo long haired black and brown GSD. I was found tied up to a fire hydrant in front of the Richmond, CA. Shelter and was taken to the Martinez Shelter where I ended up on death row. Luckily, Martina Animal Rescue saved me from the shelter at the 11th hour. I was in a foster home briefly, but it wasn't a good situation. They kept me outside all the time in a very small crate where I couldn't even move around. So, I was placed in a boarding kennel until I find my forever home. I have been there for more than a year. I really like the people there and I make the best of it, but it sure would be nice to have a home and family of my very own. They do tell me every day that I am a great dog and that they love me and this makes me feel so happy.❤️ I just found out that the Boarding Kennel I am in is closing at the end of this month. I don't know where I am going to go now and I am very worried and sad. I hope I don't end up back at the scary shelter. I am reserved and nervous when I meet new people (especially men). I think this is because my original human abandoned me. But, once I know you and trust you, I am a very loving and affectionate dog. My humans tell me I am smart, curious, love taking walks and am easy to train because I love their treats. I also really like meeting other dogs and playing with them. My friends tell me that I would make an excellent personal protective dog. Wouldn't it be nice to be happily greeted at the door every time you come home by your best friend and know that your home and belongings were safe and sound. If you’d like to meet me please contact Martina Animal Rescue at martinaanimalrescue@yahoo.com or text Laura at 916-996-5777. I'm located in Walnut Creek, CA. Story
My name is Papa Bear and I am a friendly and easy going 9 year old. I was rescued from the Shelter by Martina Animal Rescue and am currently in boarding while I wait for a foster or adopter. . The shelter said I am easy to handle. I like going for walks and love getting pets, affection and attention. 🥰 I came in with a female who was rescued. I also ignored the other dogs I passed at the shelter, so would likely do okay with another larger dog with proper introductions. Since I'm an older gentleman, I'm very easy going, no "stay off my lawn" energy from me and none of those headaches a puppy causes! I adore being pet and brushed. Any pampering is fine by me! I am a gentle soul who enjoys a stroll around the park 🌳 or lounging around the house. If you are looking for a best friend and are considering giving me a home for my twilight years, you can meet me or learn more about me by contacting Martina Animal Rescue at martinaanimalrescue@yahoo.com or text Laura at 916-996-5777. Story
My name is Maya and I’m 2 years old. I am really cute! Check out my pics. I look like regular german shepherd, but I have short legs and I’m a little chubby. I was rescued from the shelter by Martina Animal Rescue and am now in boarding while I wait for a foster or adopter. Both the shelter behaviorist and my rescue that came to meet me said I was a little stand-offish at first, but just give it 5 minutes and I’m all in! Once I know you for a few minutes, I am totally engaged, love attention, affection and will come over to you for more pets and playfulness. I’m a smart girl too! I know some basic commands like “sit” and “down and I have also had no reaction to other dogs I met outside in the quad. I am hoping for a loving family of my very own who will make me part of their pack. In return you will have a friend who love you unconditionally to share all your adventures with! If you’d like to meet me please contact Martina Animal Rescue at martinaanimalrescue@yahoo.com or text Laura at 916-996-5777. I'm located in Walnut Creek, CA.
