At about 36 pounds and growing, she’s a playful, energetic puppy who loves learning, exploring, and being part of the action. In her temporary foster home, sweet Kennedy showed off just how smart she is. She already knows sit, is housetrained and cratetrained, and is working hard on her leash skills. Like many puppies, she can be a bit jumpy and mouthy, and may vocalize when left alone, but she settles after a little while. She’s also practicing sharing her toys and would do best in a home without young children. Kennedy will thrive with continued positive-reinforcement training, patient socialization, and an adopter ready to guide a shepherd puppy into her best self. I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog H:2Artemisia is an 8-month-old Malinois mix who is bright, responsive, and deeply people oriented once she warms up. Artemisia spent some time with a temporary foster family, and they gave us a great report! She settled happily within the first two days. She has endless puppy energy. She loves chasing balls and playing with her tug toy. She follows us everywhere, but once we settle on the couch or in bed, she is able to relax in a sunny spot and fall asleep. On her walks, she is curious about other dogs she sees across the street, but she follows our lead and stays close to us. She likes to help us in the garden, and will find ways to encourage you to play with her! It's very cute. She can be entertained for hours following us around and playing in the backyard, she truly loves to be with her humans. She’s very smart and playful, she learned a few tricks very quickly. She will benefit from being adopted by someone with knowledge and experience with Malinois or similar breeds. She needs a lot of physical and mental stimulation before she is able to settle. Trooper’s story is one of incredible resilience. As a young puppy, he was found with a broken jaw and underwent two surgeries to repair it. Due to his injuries, he’s missing the front part of his lower jaw — but don’t tell him that! Trooper doesn’t let it slow him down one bit. He eats, drinks, plays fetch, and enjoys life just like any other dog. His joyful spirit and determination shine through in everything he does, reminding everyone he meets what it means to be strong, happy, and unstoppable. This handsome boy is as smart as he is sweet — he already knows his basic commands, including sit, down, middle, place, and crate. He walks beautifully on leash and is a joy to walk. He loves to learn and is eager to please, especially if you’ve got a ball in hand! He has great ball drive and fetch is easily his favorite sport. Trooper loves to play with other dogs but benefits from slow introductions. Once he warms up, he’s a total goofball. We believe he could be cat workable with proper introductions and structure. He’s fully housebroken and thrives with a routine, clear guidance, and lots of love. Trooper takes his job as home guardian seriously — he can be a little protective when new people first come to the door. Once he sees that everything is safe and calm, it only takes him a few minutes to relax and make friends. With proper introductions and clear direction, Trooper quickly switches from cautious to cuddly!
