Story
Meet Baduck! She is the sweetest most adorable girll! She is a 3 year old that was rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea.  We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable.  Many of these dogs start off in horrific puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth.  If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away.  Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.   Many restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South  Korea,  and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.    Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions.  The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade.      Baduck and some of her family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.  If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app May 23, 2024, 9:54 pm

Story
Loki was rescued from the shelter about 2 months ago. He is an energetic, loving dog who wants to run around and play fetch. He is about 4 years old and 47 pounds. I am looking for someone with a yard and multiple people in the home to have the time for his energy. Due to my work situation and evolving allergies, I believe a new home is needed to give Loki the love and time he truly deserves.

Story
This handsome boy is Buddy and his story is sad, but important to hear so you understand the extra love and care he needs. This 2yr old, male, 34lb Cocker Spaniel/Bearded Collie mix has been moved around and dumped so much. Buddy was dumped at the Carson Shelter mid 2023 by the one person he trusted and loved and then was soon adopted around August of 2023. We found out that he was then dumped in October of 2023 at the Santa Monica Shelter by the person who just adopted him. We work closely with the Santa Monica Shelter and after 5 months of no real interest....they reached out to us for help. Hearing his story and looking into his eyes...we knew we had to get him out of there! We placed Buddy with our trainer who also boards dogs and he is doing amazingly! We are looking for a VERY dog savvy home that is dedicated, patient, and loving. Buddy has been bounced around so much that he does need a strong pack leader who will continue working with him so he can be the best dog he can. Buddy should be the only dog in the home as he can be a little dominant, but not aggressive. He is great with kids, but he is still learning to not jump up on people, and he will knock little ones over, so an adult only home would be best. Owners that are not gone long hours during the day would be ideal for him so he can get that one on one attention. A safe and secure yard is a must for this fun and active boy. Buddy is still working on his leash training and our trainer will provide you with the tips to keep up his progress. He is strong on leash so he definitely needs a home where someone is strong enough to physically walk him. Buddy has had so many obstacles in his young life, but we know there is THAT home out there that will give him the time he needs to settle in and not give up on him quickly. He deserves the best home out there! Buddy is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. We only adopt in the Greater Los Angeles areas as an in person meet/greet, home check, and trial period are required. His adoption fee is $600 Please contact us at gina@theforgottendog.org or 310-990-2020
