Story
Boy, do I have a story. I was a stray in San Pedro, raising my puppies on the street, until Forte stepped in and saved us. I got checked out, and for the first time, I started to learn that people can be kind and life can be safe. This is my first time living in a home environment, and I’m learning quickly—routine, structure, and trust. Every day, I’m getting more comfortable and more connected. Looking for someone who understands this is all new and will continue providing guidance. In return, I’ll give you real loyalty and connection. You can also see my babies, Sky and Spirit, on the Forte website—they’re looking for homes too. If you are interested in meeting Cielo, please download the Adoption Questionnaire, fill it out and email it back to us at info@farescue.org or fax (310) 362-0321. You can also meet this and/or other available dogs at our weekend adoptions. [Cielo is about 1 year old and weighs 40 lbs.] (2604)

Story
Meet Kongi – A Quiet Soul with a Gentle Heart    Name: Kongi Age: 4 years Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Border Collie Mix Color: Black & White Weight: 12.5 kg (27.5 lbs) Height: 48 cm (19 in)   Kongi is the loving mother of Haeon and Jaban, who have already found their forever homes in Canada. On February 26, 2025, Kongi was rescued after being found chained up in an industrial area where she had given birth to her puppies. Despite her difficult past, she has grown into a gentle, affectionate dog who is now ready to find a family of her own.    People Kongi can be a little reserved when meeting new people, but she’s easily won over with treats and warms up quickly. She isn’t fearful of strangers—she simply has a calm, independent personality and doesn’t immediately shower everyone with affection. Once she trusts you, however, she’s incredibly sweet and affectionate.   She is currently living with a boy under the age of 13 and the two are best friends. She’s comfortable being gently picked up with an arm under her belly and happily rolls over to show her tummy to the people she loves.    With Other Dogs Kongi is polite and social with other dogs. She enjoys greeting them but rarely chooses to play, preferring to mind her own business. She tends to feel intimidated by dogs much larger than herself but is friendly with dogs of a similar size. Even when another dog acts rudely, Kongi usually chooses to walk away instead of reacting.    With Cats When she sees cats on walks, she’s curious but easily redirects her attention and follows her handler without any issues.    Energy Level Kongi has a moderate energy level. She enjoys outdoor activities and walks, but once she’s had her exercise, she’s happy to relax quietly at home.    Walking Kongi can pull on the leash at times, but she’s attentive to her handler and is gentle enough to be walked by children. She does have a sensitive side and may freeze or lie down when something scares her. Busy roads with heavy traffic can sometimes make her nervous.    More About Kongi   Fully outdoor potty trained. Very quiet and rarely barks. Calm and well-behaved in a crate. Can jump in and out of the car by herself.   Kongi doesn’t guard food from people, but she may give a warning growl if another dog approaches while she’s eating. She has never shown aggression.   Car rides aren’t her favorite. She may have had a negative experience with vehicles in the past, as she tends to avoid cars in parking lots. She also experiences motion sickness and may drool or vomit during longer rides, so her future family should be prepared to help her feel comfortable while traveling.   Kongi is the kind of dog who doesn’t demand attention—she quietly earns your heart. She’s gentle, loyal, thoughtful, and incredibly rewarding once you’ve earned her trust. After spending her life caring for her puppies, it’s finally Kongi’s turn to be someone’s beloved family member. Story
Meet Hazel   A Gentle Border Collie Looking for Her Forever Family   Hazel is a sweet, affectionate 2-year-old Border Collie with a calm personality and a heart full of love. She may not have had the easiest start in life, but she’s ready to leave her past behind and find a family to call her own.   Name: Hazel Age: 2 years Breed: Border Collie Sex: Spayed Female Weight: 20 kg (44 lbs) Height: 46 cm (18 in) at the shoulder Color: Black & White   Rescue Story Hazel is Aesop’s mother. She was found at a highway rest stop and brought to a municipal shelter in February, where it was discovered that she was pregnant. She gave birth to Aesop at the shelter, and today her puppy has safely joined her forever family in Vancouver to begin her new life. Now it’s Hazel’s turn to find the loving family she deserves.   Personality   Hazel is incredibly affectionate and people-oriented. She happily approaches both familiar faces and strangers, enjoys being petted, and loves the company of both men and women.   She can easily be picked up by placing an arm under her belly—but instead of being lifted, she’ll often dramatically flop onto her back for belly rubs! Even people she has just met are greeted with a trusting belly-up welcome.   With Other Dogs   Hazel is polite when meeting new dogs and enjoys saying hello, but she doesn’t have much interest in playing with them. She much prefers spending time with people.   If another dog bothers her while she’s relaxing, she’ll let them know she’d rather be left alone by shooing them away. However, she has no aggression and does not start fights. She’s simply an independent, peaceful girl.   Cats   She may curiously watch cats during walks, but she easily follows her handler without reacting. A formal cat test can be arranged if needed.   Energy Level   Hazel has a low energy level and is happiest lounging nearby and relaxing with her family. She absolutely enjoys going for walks, making her an ideal companion for someone looking for a calm dog who still appreciates daily outdoor adventures.   Walking   Hazel has a mild leash pull but is easy to handle. Like many dogs, she enjoys stopping to sniff and explore her surroundings.   More About Hazel   No food guarding toward people or other dogs Rarely barks Calm and quiet in a crate Mostly potty trained for outdoor elimination   Hazel is a gentle, easygoing girl who asks for very little—just kindness, love, and a soft place to rest. After raising her puppy, it’s finally her time to be someone’s beloved companion. Could that family be yours?
