**COURTESY POST****THIS IS A COURTESY POST, THIS DOG IS NOT AT THE SHELTER. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, REACH OUT TO HUDSON hudsongarland1@gmail.com** Debo is a 1 year old, intact male border collie mix. He is very sweet with all people, but is high energy and requires more space than the owner can provide. All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Story
Hi, my name is Jesse. I am 10 years old and have spent most of my life outdoors in rural northern California. I was rescued because my parents could no longer care for me. My current living situation is not ideal; my foster parents work full-time Monday to Friday, and I have to be crated while they are away. They also own a cat, and I do not like cats at all. The cat and I have to live separately between the first and second floor of the condo; it's not fair to either of us. It makes things especially difficult because our home is already small. My foster parents rescued me because I’m family, and I was going to be put down if I didn't have a home. They didn't think it was fair because I still have so much life to live, and I'm a pretty sweet and happy boy. They reached out to local shelters for me, but because of my age, being non neutered, and behavior issues with cats, I'm not a good candidate. Regardless, they want a better life for me, and so do I.

Story
It's pretty impossible not to love Ahi! Ahi is a 1.5-year-old goofball who is always on the lookout for fun. Like a true herding breed dog, she loves to always be on the move and is a smart girl who loves to learn. She is a special girl as she was born deaf, but that doesn't stop her from being a happy-go-lucky pup. Ahi is full-grown at just under 40lbs. Ahi is currently being fostered by the family who adopted her sister. Unfortunately, Ahi's previous owners were not able to keep up with her exercise requirements and she was returned to the person who bred her mom. Once her foster family heard about her, they wasted no time to come to her rescue and we were happy to make her a YCSPCA dog and help find her fur-ever home. Ahi is a confident girl who loves to explore and make new friends. She has come to a few adoption events and has blown us away with how social she is out and about. She would be a great dog for someone who likes to go to dog-friendly breweries. She is a higher-energy girl, so she needs an active family that will ensure she gets lots of daily exercise and enrichment to keep her busy mind and body happy. Ahi has been doing great learning all her basic manners but still learning how to not get too excited when saying hello, so her new family will need to be committed to working on her training and helping her learn how to be the best girl she can be. She is VERY food-motivated and will do just about anything for a tasty treat. Ahi's lack of hearing doesn't slow her down one bit, but training can be a little more difficult since she can't hear. She needs a dog-savvy family that has experience with deaf dogs or is eager to learn how to work with her and possibly hire a professional trainer to learn how to communicate with Ahi. Ahi loves other dogs and has done well living with other playful medium/large dogs. She can be a little too boisterous for small or older dogs though. Ahi needs a cat-free and would do best in an adult-only home or with kids older than 14 years old. Ahi is housetrained in her foster home, but her new family should be patient with her while she is settling into a new home and routine and expect a few accidents. Ahi is crate-trained and does well in her crate overnight and when her foster family isn't home. Ahi is such a rockstar dog and we know she is going to make a great companion for the right family. If she sounds like the right-hand girl for you, submit an adoption application today!   Ahi's adoption fee is $350.   Apply to adopt here! https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/  Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm and started on preventatives, and are given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. September 15, 2024, 1:32 pm

he is really friendly, nice, smart and naughty. He may be sacred to unfamiliar people. He barks when strangers walk close to the front door. He is not aggressive at all, never bitten anything before. he only pees and poops outside, so at minimum walk him twice a day. he really loves to stay with the owner and loves the catch-and-fetch games.

Story
Solstice went on a doggie day out adventure with a volunteer on 8/31, here is what they had to say! `When we first met, he was timid and a bit stressed - some lip licking and stress panting. He didn`t want to be leashed/harnessed - it was a lot for him. Once ready, he was scared to get in the car, but did with treats. I took him home first to meet my husband and get some decompression/play time in. I walked him through the house and let him sniff each room, then we went outside. He definitely would enjoy a yard as we found out that he LOVES to play! He will play independently as well as with his humans. He was up for anything: to play tug, chase a ball, chew on a squeaky toy - he`ll be a lot of fun for someone! Once he had a ball or toy, he was happy to play with it by himself, tossing it out, running with it, and so on - definitely able to amuse himself. After a bit of running around and chasing the ball, we went inside. During his time in the house, There was no marking or any attempt to pee in the house. I was unsure if he was potty trained, but he only went when outside, so he well may be. Once he was comfortable with the house and us (didn`t take lone), he would walk around independently a bit to explore, but wanted to primarily hang out where I or my husband was. After a couple hours hanging out with us at our house, we decided to go for a walk and to see how he did with people. Interestingly, he jumped right in the car without any coaxing. We went to Midtown for a walk and went to Chalk It Up. He was great with people and kids. He really wanted to meet other dogs, which he did not get to do, of course, and as he eats just about anything, I had to carefully watch to ensure he didn`t eat anything he shouldn`t. Several people stopped to ask about him and one person posted him on her Instagram - who knows, maybe it will reach the right person! All in all, it was a great day and he`s a super dog.`*** Solstice`s adoption fee has been paid for with a donation from a community member ***

Story
************COURTESY POST***** NOT AT THE SHELTER SEE NUMBER TO CALL BELOW***** Hello, I'm Maximus, but my friends call me Max. I celebrated my third birthday in September 2023. Max is a well-behaved pup who responds to both verbal and non-verbal commands. He's crate-trained, full of energy, and thrives when given tasks to do. We believe he's an Australian Kelpie mix with some other breed. Max walks excellently on a harness and leash. Outdoors, Max can be protective if someone approaches too closely to him or his loved ones. He grew up in a household with another older dog, birds, and children. Due to changes in our circumstances, we need to find a new home for Max. He deserves to have more freedom than an apartment can provide, especially while we're away at work. Additionally, with a baby on the way in March, we worry that Max may not adjust well to the change, as he's used to interacting with slightly older children. If you have any questions or if I've missed any important details, please feel free to reach out to me at 530-554-5091.
