Story
Montana is an affectionate 4-year-old Lab/Pit mix who’s ready to be your loyal companion for life. This sweet girl is a fetch fanatic who lives for playtime and loves nothing more than chasing balls with her favorite humans. She’s both treat and toy motivated and ready to learn new tricks. Montana gets along fine with other dogs, but she’s truly a people-focused pup who wants to be your number-one play partner. On a recent Doggie Day Out adventure, she proved to be a calm car passenger and a wonderful trail companion. She enjoys sniffy walks and likes to lead the way without pulling on the leash. Though Montana can be a little shy when meeting new people, she warms up quickly with patience (and a few tasty treats). Once she feels comfortable, she enjoys gentle petting and cuddle time with her friends. If you can toss a tennis ball, you’re already in her inner circle! Montana was placed on final because shelter life has become overwhelming for her. Repeated encounters with unfamiliar people reaching into her kennel have left her feeling uneasy, and she may growl or show her teeth to ask for space. But outside the kennel, Montana’s true personality shines—sweet, playful, and full of love. Montana will thrive in a calm, patient home that gives her time to decompress and build trus ##2599337##

Story
STABBED BY HIS OWNER, NOW HES ALL ALONE Rescue preferred This is not the life Buster deserves to be living Buster came to the shelter in July after being stabbed by his owner with a sword. He was seen by an offsite vet, his owner was arrested, and he has been here as evidence ever since. His owner’s case was dismissed due to a lack of evidence (unfortunately), and Buster is now FINALLY able to leave the shelter after being cooped up in a kennel for over FIVE MONTHS. We prefer that Buster goes to a rescue, as we do not want Buster to ever have to go back to the person who did this to him— he deserves better. He deserves love. Buster’s story is sad, but please do not bring him into your home unprepared just because his story tugs at your heart. Anyone who takes Buster home needs to be prepared for a long and potentially rocky and frustrating decompression process. Being in a shelter for so long is not easy and takes a toll on a dog’s psyche (and behaviors). He needs space and grace to heal. Currently, Buster’s mind is all over the place so it takes him a bit to connect with people because he is just too overwhelmed. He needs someone who understands that it may not be love at first sight. Someone patient who will not necessarily shower him with love but will give him structure, boundaries, and a safe place to rest his bones. Buster seems to want to be with dogs, but again, he needs to decompress. He lacks manners and shows some dominant behaviors, possibly due to how stressed he is. We cannot say for sure how his opinion of dogs and behaviors toward them will change once he is in a home, but currently he would do best with SLOW intros (decompression!!!!) and a tolerant, friendly dog. ##2619651##

Story
Joey is a 3 year old black Mutt ( medium mixed breed ) the shelter told us he was a Border Collie mix small frame from his recent last vet visit : 38 pounds. He is neutered and up to date on all his vaccinations. He is a loving happy and healthy dog looking for his perfect forever home. He absolutely loves people and bonds deeply with his humans. Joey enjoys walks hiking and being outdoors but he is just as happy cuddling on the couch giving kisses and relaxing by your side. He has soft fur that does not shed much and is a joy to pet. Joey is fully house trained listens well to all commands like sit stay leave it come drop it paw spin off place and more. Joey is very trainable. He loves learning tricks and enjoys having structure and interaction. He can be left alone for up to 10 hours indoors without issues making him a good fit for someone with a full workday who can still give him quality time and regular walks every day. He is lives with two cats. However Joey really does not like other dogs and must be the only dog in the home. No young children. He would do best with older kids and a family or individual who enjoys daily walks and giving lots of affection. We are helping Joey's current guardian to rehome him. Please fill out our online application and we will forward to them. Adoption fee would be minimum $100 donation to Furry Friends Rescue. If you have specific questions please send them through and we will put you in touch with his current guardian.January 24, 2026, 12:25 pm

Story
FOSTER CARE! Hello, my name is Rudy and I'm a 3-year-old, neutered Border Collie mix that currently weighs about 45lbs. I'm a sweet and friendly guy that's hoping for a family that understands my special needs don’t make me any less loveable! I have a chronic balance issue that causes me to have a bit of a wobble, especially when I'm excited. But don't worry, I'm still a happy go lucky guy and I've adapted just fine! Sometimes other animals don't understand my signature wobble, so I'd like meet any residents dogs to make sure we get along. For more information about me, just ask Customer Service about Rudy! ID# A960272 My foster family says I'm the bestest boy! Here's how I've been in their home: Rudy is such a good boy! He has a bit of a wobble, but that doesn't stop him from enjoying daily walks, going for short trots, and playing with the family. He does great in the car. He can jump in on his own (we act as a spotter just in case) and he sits patiently during the entre drive just taking in the sights and smells. He loves squeaky toys and sometimes carries them with him on walks. This adorable boy is very affectionate and is a constant companion. He will follow you around the house like a fur and LOVES to cuddle. We have been able to leave him home for the work day without any accidents. He will try to chase small animals like birds, cats, and wildlife so he will probably be best as the only child. He is an absolute joy to have and we hope he finds his forever family soon.   Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Story
Hi there! My name is Oreo and I'm a 10-month-old, neutered, Border Collie/Shepherd mix that currently weighs about 50lbs but I'm just a teenager and still growing. I'll be between 60-70 pounds once I'm full grown. I'm a sweetheart that's looking for a family that understands the needs of under-socialized pups like me. I'm devoted to my people and want to be your constant companion! I get nervous in new places and situations so I'm hoping my new family will have enough patience and love to help me learn about the world. Once I'm comfortable, I'm very affectionate and can be a little bit curious as well! I'm a young dog with tons of potential! I just need someone to guide me. Could it be you?
