Story
Montana is an affectionate 4-year-old Lab/Pit mix who’s ready to be your loyal companion for life. This sweet girl is a fetch fanatic who lives for playtime and loves nothing more than chasing balls with her favorite humans. She’s both treat and toy motivated and ready to learn new tricks. Montana gets along fine with other dogs, but she’s truly a people-focused pup who wants to be your number-one play partner. On a recent Doggie Day Out adventure, she proved to be a calm car passenger and a wonderful trail companion. She enjoys sniffy walks and likes to lead the way without pulling on the leash. Though Montana can be a little shy when meeting new people, she warms up quickly with patience (and a few tasty treats). Once she feels comfortable, she enjoys gentle petting and cuddle time with her friends. If you can toss a tennis ball, you’re already in her inner circle! Montana was placed on final because shelter life has become overwhelming for her. Repeated encounters with unfamiliar people reaching into her kennel have left her feeling uneasy, and she may growl or show her teeth to ask for space. But outside the kennel, Montana’s true personality shines—sweet, playful, and full of love. Montana will thrive in a calm, patient home that gives her time to decompress and build trus ##2599337##

Story
Zoey is an enthusiastically friendly four year old medium sized dog who is likely some kind of terrier mix. She's not shy at all with new people and is very energetic- she doesn't necessarily need someone very experienced with dogs but does need someone who can regularly exercise her more strenuously than simple walks. She seems to understand the concept of fetch and loves playing with toys. She gets along with the two dogs she currently lives with but it is unknown how well she would interact with cats. She's very cuddly and loves attention! Her human passed away and had no known relatives so she needs a new forever home. She's very attentive to the humans around her and seems to be constantly looking for a job to do so she would probably do well with agility training or as a running buddy or farm/ranch companion. We are helping Zoey's current guardian to rehome her. Please fill out our online application and we will forward to them. Adoption fee would be minimum $100 donation to Furry Friends Rescue. If you have specific questions please send them through and we will put you in touch with her current guardian.June 10, 2026, 12:34 am

Story
Samson and Goliath were rescued from a distant shelter. Their mom BC mix was abandoned and taken to the shelter where she gave birth to 9 puppies on day 2 on 3/9/26. Mom was nervous. Dad is unknown but maybe an Aussie mix. A rescue person took them in and mom nursed and cared for her puppies. Great mom. All healthy and playful. Puppies are now 8 weeks old and 2 pups came to us to start puppy home training and socialization. Puppies are both very sweet and friendly. They just got their first vet exam vaccinations deworm and microchip. They are now relaxing and learning at their foster homes. We will see more of their breed type personality soon. If more border collie they will need some future fun dog sport and training. Border Collie & Aussies are smart but will need a job or activity when adults. Both pups are super adorable. Playful smart and eager to learn. They are healthy been in home quarantine after first vaccines and now need new foster homes or adopters for one on one training and socials.June 10, 2026, 12:34 am

* This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, June 13th from 12-3 PM unless adopted prior to the event. To be considered for adoption before or at the event, please read the dog’s full biography to see whether they may be a good fit for your home, then submit an application.  Can't make it? Check our website after the event for available dogs. All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.Adoption fee: $650 Meet Subwoofer, aka “Woofie” — 28.6 Pounds of Resilience, Wiggles, and Big-Eared Charm   Subwoofer’s story started out tough, but you’d never know it from the joyful, goofy puppy he is today. This 5-6 month old ACD/Husky mix boy came to DPS as a very young puppy from a Central Valley shelter, gravely ill with parvo. Thanks to dedicated care and a whole lot of determination, Woofie fought his way back to health— and now he’s thriving, growing fast, and filling his foster home with laughter. At 28.6 pounds, he’s a sturdy, happy pup with an even bigger personality and ears that seem to have a life of their own.   Woofie is the kind of puppy who greets each day with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a readiness to play. He’s affectionate without being clingy, social with other dogs, and always up for an adventure. Most of all, he’s a survivor who has blossomed into a fun-loving companion ready to find his forever family.   Daily Routine Woofie starts his day around 7:30–8:00 AM, waking up in his cozy enclosed pen area. First stop: the backyard, where he happily runs out to stretch his legs and take care of business. Breakfast is a highlight— he’s very food motivated and gets adorably excited when meals are on the way.   During the day, Woofie rotates between his pen area, the kitchen, and the backyard, enjoying a mix of playtime and naps. He especially loves romping around with his canine foster sibling, engaging in games of chase and tug-of-war before settling down to recharge.   Dinner happens between 5:00–6:00 PM, followed by more playtime with his people or doggy friend. By 10:00 PM, he’s ready to wind down for the night and settle in to sleep.   Personality: From Fighter to Fun-Loving Goofball When Woofie first arrived, he was very sick and understandably quiet and reserved. But as his health improved, so did his spirit. Over the past few weeks, his true personality has burst into full view—playful, curious, and delightfully goofy.   He’s full of classic puppy energy from the moment he wakes up. He loves being around people and other dogs, and he’s always eager to join in on whatever is happening. While he enjoys attention and companionship, he’s not overly clingy—he’s content as long as he has friends nearby, whether human or canine.   Woofie also has a charmingly vocal side. Sometimes he’ll “chat” to himself with a soft, howling-style bark when he wants attention. It’s less noisy than you might expect and more endearing than anything—like he’s narrating his own adventures.   Social Life Woofie lives with a medium-sized Australian Shepherd/Cattle Dog mix and absolutely loves having a canine playmate. He interacts with other dogs daily and is always ready to run, wrestle, and play. Off-leash, he’s friendly, enthusiastic, and social.   He hasn’t yet met cats or young children, but his foster family believes he would do best with slightly older kids who can understand typical puppy behaviors like mouthing and high energy play.   Energy & Exercise This is an energetic, playful puppy who thrives on activity and engagement. He’s happiest when he’s moving—running in the yard, playing with toys, or exploring the world around him.   Woofie has recently started going on walks and is already showing promising leash manners. He’s curious about his surroundings and adapting quickly to new experiences, making him a great candidate for families who enjoy daily walks, outings, and adventures.   Puppy Habits (The Honest Scoop) Woofie is very much a puppy, which means:   -He loves to chew—especially during teething -He may dig a little in the yard (particularly to bury treasures like bones) -He sometimes barks briefly when seeking attention or greeting visitors -He can be a bit mouthy, but this is typical puppy behavior and improves with guidance   With structure, training, and appropriate chew toys, these habits will continue to improve as he matures.   He has a fun, spirited personality and will do best with adopters who are ready to do training and help him grow into the amazing adult dog he’s destined to be.   What Makes Woofie Special Woofie didn’t have the easiest start in life, but his resilience and joyful spirit make him truly unforgettable. He fought hard to recover from parvo, and now he’s embracing every moment with enthusiasm and curiosity. And then there are those ears— big, upright, and impossibly cute. They’re the first thing people notice and the last thing they forget.   Favorite Thing His foster family can’t get enough of Woofie’s adorable “talking” habit. Every now and then, he’ll sit quietly and have a little conversation with himself, making soft howling sounds as if he’s sharing his thoughts with the world. It’s equal parts funny and heart-melting—and perfectly captures his quirky, lovable personality.   Subwoofer (“Woofie”) is a survivor, an explorer, and a joyful young pup ready to start the next chapter of his life. With love, structure, and plenty of playtime, he’s going to make an incredible companion.June 10, 2026, 10:43 pm

All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.Adoption Fee: $650 I leaned into the 'Mango' theme, his size, his social personality, and some classic puppy chaos while keeping it adoption-friendly. Mango Meet Mango, a 10 week old, 18 pound tropical paradise disguised as a puppy. Mango is sunshine, happiness, and questionable decision making wrapped up in an adorable fluffy package. He wakes up every morning convinced it is the greatest day in human history and fully expects everyone around him to share his enthusiasm. Named after a tropical fruit, Mango is sweet, colorful, impossible to ignore, and somehow always involved in whatever is happening nearby. If there is fun to be had, Mango has already arrived and is currently recruiting additional participants. This boy has never met a stranger. New people are greeted like long lost friends returning from a three year expedition across the ocean. The mail carrier? Hero. The neighbor? Best friend. The person who came to fix the internet? Basically family now. Mango approaches life with the confidence of a puppy who believes every human on Earth exists specifically to pet him. At 18 pounds and only 10 weeks old, Mango is already making it clear that he's not aiming for 'tiny lap dog.' He's aiming for 'adventure buddy who accidentally takes up half the couch.' His favorite hobbies currently include wrestling with siblings, exploring the yard, chasing anything that moves, investigating things that absolutely do not concern him, and accepting treats with the seriousness of a professional food critic. Every snack is reviewed. Every crumb is appreciated. Every meal receives five stars. Like all puppies, Mango is still working on his manners. He understands that human hands are attached to people he loves. He is still evaluating whether they might also be chew toys. Research continues. Mango is playful, social, confident, affectionate, and always ready for whatever adventure comes next. Whether it's a walk, a road trip, a hike, a backyard game, or simply following you from room to room to make sure you don't get lonely, Mango is all in. The family who adopts Mango is getting more than a puppy. They're getting a personal cheerleader, professional cuddle specialist, entertainment director, snack enthusiast, and loyal best friend. And fair warning: puppies like Mango don't stay available long. Someone is going to adopt this happy little ray of sunshine and spend the next decade telling everyone, 'You should have seen him when he was a puppy.' The only question is whether that story will be yours.June 10, 2026, 10:43 pm

Kiwi is the kind of puppy who wakes up every morning ready to see what exciting things the world has planned for her. She's smart, curious, outgoing, and usually the first puppy to greet new people. If there's something new to investigate, Kiwi has already arrived and would like a full report. Named after a tiny fruit, Kiwi finds it hilarious that she's already 15 pounds. While her name may be small and sweet, her personality is anything but. This girl has big-dog confidence packed into a fluffy puppy body. Kiwi believes every household activity is a team sport and fully intends to participate. Folding laundry? Kiwi is helping. Making dinner? Kiwi is helping. Sweeping the floor? Kiwi is helping. Trying to carry groceries inside? Kiwi would like to supervise. By 'helping,' she mostly means following you around, keeping you company, and occasionally attempting to relocate important items. Kiwi absolutely loves people and greets visitors like they just returned from a year-long expedition. She wants to know everyone, meet everyone, and make sure nobody feels left out of the fun. Like any puppy her age, she's currently balancing her studies in advanced zoomies, stick collection, leaf inspection, toy redistribution, and the exciting field of 'Should I put this in my mouth?' Research is ongoing. She's also incredibly bright and learns quickly. Kiwi pays attention, picks up routines fast, and genuinely enjoys being engaged with her people. She'll thrive with a family that wants an active companion to train, socialize, and include in life's adventures. Her future family is getting more than a puppy. They're getting a hiking buddy, road-trip companion, neighborhood social director, professional shadow, and loyal best friend. And here's the thing about puppies like Kiwi: they don't stay available for long. Some lucky family is going to adopt this confident, funny, people-loving girl and spend years telling stories about the day they brought home the best dog they've ever had. The only question is whether you'll be hearing those stories from someone else.    June 10, 2026, 10:43 pm
