Story
Meet Finley! Fin is a 2 year old border collie mix. He has a LOT of energy, and would do best in an active home. He loves his walks, and playing. He's good with other large dogs. Due to his energy, he would do best in an adult only home. Finley needs a firm handler, someone who is patient and will use positive reinforcement to reward good behavior. He was never shown how to act as a puppy, and still has a lot of puppy tendencies. He is house and kennel trained, but lacks manners that he is working on. Story
Mozart appears to be a pure bred Border Collie, and needs a new home because her owner had to move to assisted living.  She is a spayed female around 6 years old and about 40 pounds, who does need occasional brushing to keep her coat looking good.  Mozart is very calm and laid back for a Border Collie, and loves to play with her dog friend Moxie, the long haired Dachshund and Miniature Schnauzer mix.  We would love for them to be adopted together, but they can go separately.  You can see the two of them together in two of the pictures,  We refer to them as Big Floof and Little Floof.  They are currently in foster care, so you can call or text Tia at 563-495-8141 to arrange a time to meet them.October 1, 2024, 4:34 pm

Approx. DOB:  3/14/24                                 Current Weight(as of 8/2/24. 20pds Adoption Fee: $250 includes 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness. Wally was dumped in a small town along with his sister. He is a happy and joyful pup and loves to play.    Wally has some medical issues with his back and hind leg. Radiographs showed a lumbar vertebral malformation.  He will need to be on joint supplements for life.  He also experienced a seizure and it is possible he could have more but at this time only one has been witnessed by his foster. Wally's medical issues DO NOT slow him down,  He acts like a normal puppy, playful, loving and a zest for life! He can outlast any puppy when playing,  running outside or inside.  He loves every dog and person he meets.  He is a sweetheart who craves human touch and love. He is crate trained but not fully housebroken yet.  He really needs someone that has more time to really work with him on this. He is a smart little guy and is a people pleaser so that really helps him learn new skills.  We were working on the sit command but it seems like he has a hard time getting his rump in the right position to accomplish the command. Give this little guy a chance! Just fill out that application to meet him to fall in love.  At our adoption events at the Lee Summit Petco he is our star.  Always loving on every new person he meets there and then rolling on his back to get belly rubs.  He is a real ham.  Puppies are NOT housebroken and should not be expected to wait more than 1 hour for each month of age to go out to potty. Please make sure that you have a “potty plan” in place if considering adoption. All of our puppies have been spay/neuter, wormed, microchipped, and given age appropriate vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting/adopting one of them just fill out a application at www.furrykidsrefuge.org, click on the 'Adopt A Dog' icon and a dedicated volunteer will be in touch.  Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support! Story
*Meet Ginger!* Ginger is a high-energy, adventurous pup who's ready to find her forever home. This lively girl is kennel trained, potty trained, and has a love for life that's infectious! She adores playing fetch and tug-of-war, going on adventures, and exploring new places. She's also a fan of belly rubs and giving hugs. Ginger is great with dogs of all sizes but can get a bit wild when meeting new friends. She has been around outdoor cats but might be a bit too enthusiastic, especially if they move! She's still learning her manners and needs a family that can provide guidance and structure. Ginger can be a bit nippy during playtime, pulls on the leash like she's in a sled race, and has a tendency to jump on people. She's also known to play rough, so she might not be the best fit for homes with small children. Like most puppies, Ginger is curious and likes to explore with her mouth-so keeping an eye on her is a must! Ginger is working on her basic commands and is very food motivated, though she can be a tad stubborn at times. With the right guidance, she'll make a loyal and loving companion. If you're looking for a playful and energetic pup to join your adventures, Ginger might be the perfect match for you! Ginger will come with age-appropriate vaccines, spayed, microchipped and up to date on heartworm prevention. Ginger is positive for Ehrlichia, but is symptom free. She can have flare ups on occasion, which is simply treated with a round of antibiotics from your vet. Her adoption fee is $250. Apply to adopt Ginger today at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LUCK/Dog or at www.lucky13rescue.org.

Story
*Meet Molly!* Molly is a sweet and timid young pup looking for a loving home where she can feel safe and secure. She's kennel trained, potty trained, and eager to please. Molly isn't a big barker, but she sure loves to play fetch and run around in the yard! Molly can get a bit nervous or overwhelmed during playtime, and when that happens, she might jump a 4.5 ft fence to try and get away or head back home. She does well on a leash, but she might pull if she spots a cat, rabbit, or squirrel. Molly is working on her basic commands and manners. She can get excited and jump up, but she corrects easily. Sometimes, in her eagerness for attention, she might scratch you, but it's all in a bid to keep your focus on her. She's very motivated by praise, affection, and attention. Molly gets along well with dogs of all sizes but can get a bit excited when meeting new friends. She might play a little rough, especially when she's running full speed and accidentally knocks over her playmates. She has also been around outdoor cats but tends to get a bit crazy and wants to chase them, especially if they move. Molly definitely has a lot of puppy energy and needs a family that can provide the guidance and structure she needs to thrive. She's not a fan of yelling, loud noises, or loud barking dogs, but she's incredibly sweet and gentle for a young pup. She absolutely loves belly rubs and hugs. If you're looking for a gentle, loving companion who's eager to learn and grow with you, Molly could be the perfect addition to your family! Molly will come with age-appropriate vaccines, spayed, microchipped and up to date on heartworm prevention. Molly is positive for Ehrlichia, but is symptom free. She can have flare ups on occasion, which is simply treated with a round of antibiotics from your vet. Her adoption fee is $250. Apply to adopt Molly today at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LUCK/Dog or at www.lucky13rescue.org. Molly's estimated birthdate is: 12/28/23.

Story
Pearl is an 8mo old, 20lb mini Aussie mix gal. She is beautiful and you have to feel her super soft coat to really appreciate it! She is kennel trained and keeps a clean kennel. Pearl is super smart and very treat and praise motivated. Pearl is kid, cat and dog friendly :). She has displayed some resource guarding with food/treats around other pets but this is normal for a pup with her history of having to fight for her food and we will continue to feed her in her kennel while we work through this. She is already showing signs of improvement as she is realizing she will always be fed and will never ever go hungry again. She would do best with a confident dog friend and/or dedicated work towards continued socialization at a doggie daycare or supervised doggie play date. We are working on leash training and recall. She is a sneaky gal and will leave her kennel (her safe space) to sneak around and grab kid toys and random items and take it back to her kennel. She has gotten the zoomies a couple times now and was so pleased with herself! Pearl's most perfect new family will be loving and patient as she is learning that people can be so much fun! She is working on socialization and already greets everyone with tail wags and gentle kisses. She is a flight risk, scared of loud noises and storms, so will need to be leashed at all times. I keep a leash on her in the fenced backyard as we work on recall. She is already learning that I will keep her safe and runs to me when she gets scared. This sweet girl has two sisters in the Kansas City area, who would love to meet up occasionally for play dates!
