Story
Henry came to us as a young pup and was diagnosed with Megaesophagus. You can see by looking at him that it does not slow him down. The absolute only thing different between him and any other dog is that he has to eat on two feet. Everything else is normal. Eating on 4 feet is not an option for him. However, he can drink and have treats on 4. He is crate, house trained, and doggie door trained. He gets along well with all size of dogs as he has several foster siblings. He is very loving and affectionate and believe it or not is sensitive. When researching this condition, ask questions as not all cases are the same. His foster has had two different ME dogs and both are very different. He needs that special person who will look after him and make sure he stays and healthy and happy as he is now. He would love to have a playmate too.

Story
Gordy is a fluffy cookie monster, trapped in the body of a Border Collie. He doesn't know how to herd livestock or chase balls. He'd rather sit pretty for treats than run after sheep.Gordy is as handsome as they come! His right ear always stands at attention, while his left cocks to the side and a smile is stretched across his face. He loves to play tag in the yard with other dogs and tries to beat the neighboring dog to the end of the fence line. Gordy may be a little slow when feeling at ease in new situations or with new people, but once he knows you're a good person, he'll think you're the bee's knees and want to be friends!Would you like to wake up to Gordy's smile every morning? Then contact OHAR to learn more about how to meet him!History: Gordy was turned into the Mesquite Animal shelter when found as a stray. Gordy is a happy, playful guy who is eager to please. He is crate trained graduated from obedience training where he was a star pupil.Adoption Process: After your application is approved, a home visit is schedule. We will bring the pet to you and help with introductions to your current pet(s). You will then have a week with the pet to ensure they are the right fit for your home. At the end of the week, you finalize the adoption and the pet is officially part of your family! Learn more at ohar.org/adoptionprocess

Story
It was 2021 July 12, two days after my birthday I was gifted Daisy by my best friend. At first I didn’t know Daisy was a breed who will grow big, so I accepted the gift and kept her. Over the months I started seeing her grow big and big and at first my mom wasn’t happy about it because we lived in apartments, and we still do. Daisy’s birthday is May 8th making her 4 years old. Although she might seem old she is very playful and loves to go for runs and walks. The more i walked Daisy outside the more she got used to ignoring people and other dogs while on her walk, that made going outside with her easier. What I’m looking for in a new home for Daisy is someone who lives in a house, where she would have her own backyard to run and play around with.Daisy gets along with other dogs she tends to live with. It takes time but she gets used to the company. Daisy loves to cuddle. She knows to do her business outside and can be in a cage.If daisy is the pet you are looking for please contact me.

Story
Meet Summer! Howdy, they call me Summer because I bring the sunshine, happiness and laughter to every party! I am 1 year old and I love like there is no tomorrow and am as gentle as you need me to be. When my foster family first said yes to me, they had zero clue just how sick I really was, because I showed as little as possible that side of me. And showed them nothing but the happy, grateful, playful side of me. If that gives you any idea of how laid back temperament wise I am. Ideally I would love to find an active family or adult who will give me endless car rides if they like, or all the cuddles and wiggly butt smiles they can take, or what ever adventure they may have in mind.I do have a lot of energy, but if you aren’t as energetic that is okay too! I LOVE CATCH!!!!! I light up when you throw a ball for me and I will come rushing back to drop the ball back near your feet. I am that girl! So have no fear of your lifestyle with me, as long as you can love me and throw me balls galore; we should be loving life to the fullest. I can’t wait to meet you and until then my foster mom and Nona are taking really good care of me. To set up a meet and greet or inquire about a dog, please first fill out an application at https://savinghoperescue.org/adopt It doesn`t obligate you, but it is the first step. We don`t get to all of the inquiries but respond to all applications. Thank you for choosing to rescue!

Story
Dolly Parton was a stray found running the streets of Dallas. She was adopted from a a shelter by a family member who after a month was ready to return her due to this family member not really understanding what it means to be a a dog owner . So we brought her into our family . We already had 2 dogs both breeds working dogs and knew what it means to handle a dog that requires lots of attention and exercise. But the problem we have is Dolly Parton and our other female dog are fighting for dominance with each other . It’s been a year since we brought her into the family and the fights are getting worse between the 2 females . Both females have dominant personalities , and it’s not working, it’s time to find Dolly Parton a better home fit for her . She would do best being an only dog or possibly in a home with a submissive male. She does great around children and people, but because of her breed and being very dominant she doesn’t do well with other dogs. But she is very smart & loving

Story
Sawyer is from a family member who is a breeder in Oklahoma. I have his littermate. He was born in February 2022. Sawyer belonged to my daughter in-laws dog being raised with 4 kids and 2 other dogs. When life got too busy for them, she gave the dog to us; we have his littermate. Now a couple of years later I have too many dogs (4) and am unable to afford and have time to devote to Sawyer. He needs more attention than I can give to him. Sawyer is very attentive to whomever his owner would be. He follows me around, is obedient, and is very curious about what you are doing, and wants to be by your side. He is up to date on his shots due on 8/15/25 His last grooming was 3 months ago. As a Australian Shepherd, he has been easy to train as they are a pleaser dog, and well behaved.
