Coco is a 1 1/2 yr old neutered male brindle Border Collie/Akita mix that weighs 83 lbs and was surrendered to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 6/10 along with a housemate Bobby. He was originally adopted from the MAS on 7/24 along with his housemate Bobby. They were both surrendered on 6/10 because the owners were not allowed to tether. I am told by staff that together they are quite rambunctious. They probably feed off of each other. However, individually, they were well behaved. Coco was the calmer and well mannered of the two. Coco knows the sit command and takes treats gently. He gives kisses. He’s friendly, active (but not overly so), alert, and affectionate. He responded to his name. He did his business when he got out into the yard. He did have a strong pull on the leash. He would do best having a secured yard to run and play in, then to live indoors a home, not an apartment so he can enjoy spending time indoors with his new family. That way he could show them how much love he’s saved up for them.

Henry came to us as a young pup and was diagnosed with Megaesophagus. You can see by looking at him that it does not slow him down. The absolute only thing different between him and any other dog is that he has to eat on two feet. Everything else is normal. Eating on 4 feet is not an option for him. However, he can drink and have treats on 4. He is crate, house trained, and doggie door trained. He gets along well with all size of dogs as he has several foster siblings. He is very loving and affectionate and believe it or not is sensitive. When researching this condition, ask questions as not all cases are the same. His foster has had two different ME dogs and both are very different. He needs that special person who will look after him and make sure he stays and healthy and happy as he is now. He would love to have a playmate too.

The more i walked Daisy outside the more she got used to ignoring people and other dogs while on her walk, that made going outside with her easier. Meet Muffin! She is a 1 yr old female Australian Cattle dog that weighs 38 lbs. She came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/26 as a stray. She is a beauty and such a sweet smile! She appears to have had a loving home before as can be seen in her clean soft fur, yet has not been reclaimed. All of noise makes her a bit nervous but the more time out of her kennel with it is building up her confidence. She walks well on a leash, takes treats gently and enjoys being petted. As we walked past other dogs barking at her, she was a bit intimidated by them, but did not show any aggression. If there will be another pup in the home, please ask the shelter for a dog test. This precious boy with the sweetest smile and bright eyes is Garrett. He arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/17, as a stray. Garrett is listed as an Australian Kelpie mix. He has an attractive golden coat with dark streaks and beautiful eyes. He weighs 67 pounds, is about 2 years of age and has been neutered since arriving at the shelter. He looks to have been nicely cared for. He may be house trained as he did his business in the yard. He walks well on a leash and had no reaction to several dogs that barked at him as he walked past their kennels. He is amiable and has a sweet disposition. He was A-OK with allowing me to pet him. Garrett is well behaved, calm and gentle, and a bit on the shy side at this point. Just like all of our dogs, he deserves a home in which he would receive plenty of TLC, an inside life with his people, a soft cushy doggy bed or two and nutritious food.
