Story
Maggie may have spent time on her own, but sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s off to a great start getting to know all her new friends. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s met both big dogs and little dogs, and even when her curiosity gets the best of her, she takes a cue from her new friends. Cats will keep her amused, even if they are uninterested in her. She knows how to walk on her leash, sleep in her crate, and take care of business outside. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s played well with young children, but she can benefit from the loving guidance of adults to help her become more confident. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll learn from a family who wants to help her become her best self. In her eyes, youâ&#194&#128&#194&#153re everything! Maggie has plenty of energy and will enjoy getting out for a run in addition to her walks. She loves toys, catching a ball, and playing tug. For a family with lots of love to offer to her, sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll steal your heart, and youâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll love her anyway! I absolutely love fetchâ&#194&#128&#194&#148and yes, Iâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll always bring the ball or toy back! Right now, I live in a high-rise with no outdoor space, but I dream of having more room to run. When playtime is over, Iâ&#194&#128&#194&#153m a sweet cuddler who loves to curl up with my humans. If theyâ&#194&#128&#194&#153re busy, Iâ&#194&#128&#194&#153d be so happy to have a furry friend or a playful human buddy to keep me company. â&#194&#156¨ The basics: Age: 2 years old Breed: Boxer/Border Collie mix Health: Healthy, fully immunized Special note: I used to eat too fast, but my slow feeder keeps me happy and healthy! Story
Meet the perennially goofy and Just Happy to Be Included®, Bowie the Border Collie. He is a 5-year old, 90lb Border Collie (as the name implies), with a big goofy smile and a sunny disposition. Bowie was one of my mother's furbabies, and she passed unexpectedly this year, leaving my partner and I scrambling to find a home for him and his dog-brother Scout. We are unfortunately unable to foster them indefinitely due to our own existing pet situation, and we need to find them a good home as soon as possible. Bowie is a laid back, very zen, sometimes a little derpy, pup who loves to take walks and chase squirrels, but is equally comfortable just lounging around all day. Bowie is great with kids, he lived with my Niece his whole life, and is very gentle and loving with her. He's great at chasing balls, just not great at returning them. He gets along great with other dogs, and has lived with cats before, though not recently. Bowie, as I mentioned before, is just happy to be included, whether that is playing with other pups, walks, sitting on the porch drinking coffee (not him, me) or whatever else is going on. He is calm under pressure, has no storm/thunder anxiety, and no destructive behaviors (digging, chewing, clawing). Bowie absolutely adores belly rubs and will flop over at your feet and let you rub his belly for hours and just fall asleep. Hands will definitely get tired before Bowie does. An ideal home for Bowie would be one with other dog(s) to interact with and keep him company and lead his little pack of one. Bowie IS currently on medication for arthritis and hyperthyroidism, so he does have medical needs that have to be considered, but we are hoping as we get his weight down (my mother was unable to exercise him and was not diligent in portion control the last year or so) that these conditions should be ameliorated or resolved. Bowie is leash and house trained. My mother spent some time crate training him but fell out of practice as her health declined and he hasn't needed one for a while. He should take to it quickly though if crate training is needed in your home, and knows the basics of Sit, Stay, Come. This sweet and loving pup is deserving of the perfect furever home. Could it be with you? Apply to adopt Bowie III today! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Bowie III, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org. Jax is 10 years old and has been with since he was adopted as a puppy. Jax is SWEET and playful. Being 10, he likes to lounge quite a bit most days but can still hit top speeds for a game of fetch or a jog. He loves butt scratches and to snuggle up with you. He’s extremely kid friendly. Jax welcomed 3 newborns into our home and is gentle with curious little hands. He is fully house trained. Jax is bonded with his long time sibling, cali. An ideal home for Cali and Jax would be someone who could offer a few walks weekly, daily cuddles or play, and a consistent schedule. We are being forced to rehome due to serious illness and allergies of a child.

Story
Let's go Eevee! This fun, energetic girl will Pokémon-go with you on any adventure. Eevee is a rambunctious bundle of energy that would fit in great with a family that gets outdoors and has space for her to run around at home. She is a bit of an attention hog, so she will do best in a single-dog home, but she has lived with both a cat and a dog and may be able to settle in with the right animal friends with enough time and training. Eevee needs animal companions that are respectful of her space when food is out, or to be fed separately. Owners and animal friends would need to be able to handle her high energy play-drive, so similar sized dog friends may be best. Eevee has lived with a toddler for two years, but may be better with older children after a slow introduction. Eevee is smart and very trainable. Earlier in her puppyhood, Eevee did a 3 week board and train and has some basic obedience training that, while rusty, could easily be honed further. She's showed aptitude for agility-style courses, and can be convinced to do most anything with the right treats. Eevee's prior trainer has stated that he would give any new owner two free training sessions to support Eevee's transition into a new home. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Eevee, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org. Story
Riggins is a 6-year-old, 40-pound Blue Heeler mix with a goofy personality and a heart full of love. I have had him since he was just 6 weeks old, and he has always been an energetic, playful boy who loves being outside and running around. Like a typical heeler, he can be very vocal and mouthy during playtime. Riggins is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines, so he is fully ready for his next chapter. He has lived around ducks and did wonderfully with them, and he absolutely adored the one child he has spent time with — immediately deciding that little boy was “his human.” As Riggins has gotten older, he has developed more anxiety, especially in busy environments with multiple high-energy dogs. He currently lives with several other dogs, including young puppies, and while he does enjoy playing, he can become overwhelmed in group settings. When overstimulated, he may bark, growl, or snap at the other dogs, though he has never injured another animal. Because of this, I truly believe Riggins would thrive in a calmer home with either no other dogs or perhaps one or two older, laid-back companions. He needs an experienced adopter who understands herding breeds and is willing to continue providing structure, patience, and guidance. He has worked with trainers and has even been on daily anxiety medication, but despite every effort, it has become clear that his current environment simply is not the best fit for him. Riggins is house trained, crate trained, and does fairly well on a leash, although he can pull when excited. He is incredibly affectionate and deeply loyal to his people. His ideal home would have plenty of space to run and explore — preferably with land or a large yard — and a calmer atmosphere where he can feel secure and relaxed. Rehoming him has been an incredibly difficult decision made entirely out of love and the desire to give him the life he truly deserves. He really is a sweet, energetic boy who just needs a different environment to help him thrive. Riggins is loyal, loving, goofy, and full of personality, and with the right home, he has so much happiness left to give. Apply to adopt Riggins today!
