Story
Meet Daisy â&#194&#128&#194&#147 A Loyal, Playful Companion Looking for Her Perfect Match Daisy is a 2-year-old Border Collie/Pit Bull mix, born on Valentineâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s Day (2/14/2023) â&#194&#128&#194&#148 and true to her birthday, she has so much love to give. With her goofy personality, deep loyalty, and love of fetch, Daisy is a sweetheart waiting for the right person to open their heart to her. Daisy has medium-to-high energy: sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s always up for a game of fetch or some toy time, but sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s just as happy to curl up in a sunbeam or snuggle with you on the couch afterward. She knows her basics like sit, down, shake. Her recall is still a work in progress, and she can be a little sassy if sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s not done playing fetch - sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll plop right down on the grass with the ball in her mouth if sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s not ready to head inside! However, she is very attentive and smart and we know sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153d learn a lot with a patient and loving teacher. She does get nervous and reactive around new people, animals, or unfamiliar sights and sounds, and weâ&#194&#128&#194&#153re currently working on improving her leash manners and confidence on walks. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s making progress and responds well to consistent training and positive reinforcement. While Daisy has lived with other dogs before, weâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ve made the incredibly difficult decision to rehome her because she and our other dog are no longer getting along. We believe she would be happiest as the only pet in a calm, stable home. Children can also make her anxious â&#194&#128&#194&#148 likely due to her Border Collie instincts to herd â&#194&#128&#194&#148 so an adult-only household would be ideal. That said, once Daisy trusts you, sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s incredibly affectionate, goofy, and devoted. She may be shy at first, but give her a chance to play fetch and warm up at her own pace, and sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll soon be curled up next to you, tail wagging and heart full. Weâ&#194&#128&#194&#153re heartbroken to say goodbye, but our hope is to find Daisy a new family who can give her the space, attention, and understanding she deserves. If youâ&#194&#128&#194&#153re looking for a smart, spirited companion who will reward your patience with endless love, Daisy could be the perfect fit. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Daisy XIX, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org. Story
Meet the perennially goofy and Just Happy to Be Included®, Bowie the Border Collie. He is a 5-year old, 90lb Border Collie (as the name implies), with a big goofy smile and a sunny disposition. Bowie was one of my mother's furbabies, and she passed unexpectedly this year, leaving my partner and I scrambling to find a home for him and his dog-brother Scout. We are unfortunately unable to foster them indefinitely due to our own existing pet situation, and we need to find them a good home as soon as possible. Bowie is a laid back, very zen, sometimes a little derpy, pup who loves to take walks and chase squirrels, but is equally comfortable just lounging around all day. Bowie is great with kids, he lived with my Niece his whole life, and is very gentle and loving with her. He's great at chasing balls, just not great at returning them. He gets along great with other dogs, and has lived with cats before, though not recently. He is currently living with us and his brother Scout. Bowie, as I mentioned before, is just happy to be included, whether that is playing with Scout, walks, sitting on the porch drinking coffee (not him, me) or whatever else is going on. He is calm under pressure, has no storm/thunder anxiety, and no destructive behaviors (digging, chewing, clawing). Bowie absolutely adores belly rubs and will flop over at your feet and let you rub his belly for hours and just fall asleep. Hands will definitely get tired before Bowie does. An ideal home for Bowie would be one that could also take his brother Scout, but that at minimum has other dog(s) to interact with and keep him company and lead his little pack of one. Bowie IS currently on medication for arthritis and hyperthyroidism, so he does have medical needs that have to be considered, but we are hoping as we get his weight down (my mother was unable to exercise him and was not diligent in portion control the last year or so) that these conditions should be ameliorated or resolved. Bowie is leash and house trained. My mother spent some time crate training him but fell out of practice as her health declined and he hasn't needed one for a while. He should take to it quickly though if crate training is needed in your home, and knows the basics of Sit, Stay, Come. We are planning on sending him and Scout to training school as soon as Scout recovers from neuter surgery so maybe by the time you read this he'll know even more commands! This sweet and loving pup is deserving of the perfect furever home. Could it be with you? Apply to adopt Bowie III today! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Bowie III, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org. Story
Maggie may have spent time on her own, but sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s off to a great start getting to know all her new friends. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s met both big dogs and little dogs, and even when her curiosity gets the best of her, she takes a cue from her new friends. Cats will keep her amused, even if they are uninterested in her. She knows how to walk on her leash, sleep in her crate, and take care of business outside. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s played well with young children, but she can benefit from the loving guidance of adults to help her become more confident. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll learn from a family who wants to help her become her best self. In her eyes, youâ&#194&#128&#194&#153re everything! Maggie has plenty of energy and will enjoy getting out for a run in addition to her walks. She loves toys, catching a ball, and playing tug. For a family with lots of love to offer to her, sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll steal your heart, and youâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll love her anyway! Iâ&#194&#128&#194&#153m strong, playful, and happiest when I have someone to run around with. Right now, I live in a high-rise with no outdoor space, but I dream of having more room to run. When playtime is over, Iâ&#194&#128&#194&#153m a sweet cuddler who loves to curl up with my humans. If theyâ&#194&#128&#194&#153re busy, Iâ&#194&#128&#194&#153d be so happy to have a furry friend or a playful human buddy to keep me company. â&#194&#156¨ The basics: Age: 2 years old Breed: Boxer/Border Collie mix Health: Healthy, fully immunized Special note: I used to eat too fast, but my slow feeder keeps me happy and healthy! Story
Meet the cuddly Luna! She's about a year and 4 months old, weighs 28 pounds, and is an Australian mix. We don't know exactly what type of breeds she is mixed with, but she is medium sized and very fluffy with pointy ears. My wife and I got her in December from DAS and it's definitely been a journey exploring who she is. Luna is a social pup who goes between energetic/social and lazy. She gets along with other dogs and babies (we're unsure if she gets along with cats) and currently lives with my infant son, our other adopted dog, my wife and I. Luna loves to run with her adopted sister from our bedroom to the living room and back. Whenever we put our son down for a nap, she lays down right next to the bed or couch and takes a nap too. She is a bit anxious/nervous about grooming activities, but won't try to fight it. An ideal home for Luna is one where they can go for walks/jogs/runs often and where she can cuddle for hours and hours. Whenever she wants to be alone, she simply just trots back to her cage. Luna is crate trained, leash trained, house trained and is currently working on what 'sit' means. She is very food motivated, and will do her default 'spin' if she has no idea what to do for the treat. She absolutely loves bones with peels on them and is determined on making them sparkle clean. She will sometimes avoid dog food, but absolutely demolish grass patches for some reason. When at the dog park, she will almost always go up to random people and lay on her back to say 'I've arrived! Pet my belly!' She has a habit of licking hands and seemingly does it to get more pets and belly rubs. This affectionate pup is waiting for her furever home. Could it be with you? ð&#194&#159&#194&#144¾ Meet Harper! ð&#194&#159&#194&#144¾ Hi, my name is Harper! Iâ&#194&#128&#194&#153m a 2-year-old, ~45 lb. Boxer/Border Collie mix with lots of love and energy to share. Iâ&#194&#128&#194&#153m strong, playful, and happiest when I have someone to run around with. I absolutely love fetchâ&#194&#128&#194&#148and yes, Iâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll always bring the ball or toy back! Iâ&#194&#128&#194&#153m also a big fan of the outdoors and would love to have a yard where I can stretch my legs and play. In short: Iâ&#194&#128&#194&#153m a loving, active pup who just wants to cuddle, run, and play. I'm being rehomed because my family is having to move. Love, Harper ð&#194&#159&#194&#144¶ð&#194&#159&#194&#146&#194&#153 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Harper, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org.
Story
Meet Zuko, your new best friend with a playful personality and floppy ears to match! Zuko is a male 2.5 year old boxer/cattle dog mix that weighs about 40 lbs. He LOVES people and is so smart and eager to please. His favorite games are tug (with a rope or any toy he can manage) and he loves to go on walks and play outside. He loves his stuffies, peanut butter kongs, and carrots. Zuko is crate, potty, and leash trained, microchipped, and up-to-date on all vaccines. He's good with other dogs and would love a playful friend to wrestle with, but is perfectly content getting attention from human friends only. He is not good with cats. He is curious about but mostly avoids babies/toddlers, but he does well with older children. He would do well with space to run and daily exercise. Zuko is a vocal dog that 'talks' (softly growls) for attention, but he has never been aggressive. He is currently on heartworm preventatives and is heartworm negative. He broke a toe a year ago and sometimes still favors that foot, but doesn't let it slow him down too much. Zuko will be your best bud and can't wait to shower you with love and attention. All he expects is the same treatment back! Story
Lillie Mae may be the perfect dog to step into your waiting household. At nearly two years old, she has learned all her basic skills from sleeping in her crate to taking care of business. Listening and knowing when to â&#194&#128&#194&#156leave itâ&#194&#128&#194&#157 and how to shake are part of her best qualities. Part of a full household, Lilly Mae might enjoy the attention of a small household but has spent time with other pups in her litter. Once she spends time with her new family, Lilly Mae's energy level will settle into her new playtime routine. To get started, chewing on a bone will always be a favorite pastime. She still needs a few final checks with her vet before moving to her forever home. Lillie Mae will definitely enjoy getting quality cuddle time and having a warm bed, a loving family, and a happy home of her own. All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. The standard minimum donation for dogs over six months to seven years is $200, puppies under six months is $250, dogs eight years and over are $100 unless specified otherwise. Story
Met Scooter! My husband and I are elementary school teachers and this sweet boy (now affectionately called Scooter) had been hanging around the school playground since the beginning of the year. When Animal Control came and said he would be euthanized that night, we couldnâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t let that happen. We scooped him up and brought him to our in laws home in Frisco. He is good with other dogs, cats, and kids! Scooter has been nothing short of wonderful. Heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s gentle, loving, and great with kids. Heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s fully potty trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and has quickly adjusted to being indoors. Heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s vaccinated, neutered and has the sweetest, most even temperament, he especially loves rolling over for belly rubs and being close to people. This boy is the best and deserves the best home! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Scooter, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org.
