Meet Beau, a gentle 3-year-old soul with a laid-back personality! From our observations, Beau seems to enjoy quiet moments and light socializing with other dogs. He`s been noticed exploring the yard at his own pace, occasionally interacting with his canine companions. While initially timid, Beau usually warms up to gentle pets and walks well on a leash. Come meet Beau today and see if he`s the calm companion you`ve been looking for!Due to capacity at the shelter, this pet is at risk. Story
Hi, I’m Bumble B. I’m a shy, gentle soul with the softest, fluffiest coat—like a living teddy bear. New places and people can feel a little overwhelming, but with some time, patience, and kindness, I start to open up and show my sweet, tender heart. I’m looking for a calm, loving home where I can feel safe and loved as I slowly come out of my shell.FOSTER REASON: I`m not used to living with people just yet so I need a calm home to show me the ropes and help me learn the world doesn`t have to be so scary!

Meet Cosmo Cosmo is a very sweet and petite pup who’s still learning that the world isn’t such a scary place. He can be shy and fearful, so he’s best suited for a calm and quiet home where he can build trust at his own pace. He’s still working on gaining confidence, especially on leash, and would do best with a patient person who can help him feel safe and secure.Cosmo can be fostered with a behavior foster or fostered to adopt while he continues to blossom. If you’d like to help Cosmo on his journey, email foster@spca.org to set up an appointment, or visit us—we’re open 7 days a week from 12PM–6PM at 2400 Lone Star Dr.

Story
Meet Morgan, spayed Border Collie Mix weighing approx. 54 pounds. She is up to date on all vaccines, including her heartworm and flea and tick prevention. She is well behaved dog overall, she loves chew bones, not the smartest with the terms fetching she will retrieve the toy but not return it. Morgan is house trained, and crate trained, her kennel stays up year-round because she will casually just go and lay in the kennel, she feels comfort there. Morgan loves to be outdoors; she currently has a doggie door and will lay outside for hours. Unfortunately, Morgan likes to be territorial of the house and has recently gotten worse with and should not be in a household with other dogs. She is very territorial over her human she builds a bond with, she needs someone who is looking for a cuddler, she thinks she is a lap dog. She takes a little time to warm up to strangers coming into her territory. Other than that Morgan is a sweetheart but needs to be placed in an only pet home, ideally not with younger kids who wouldn't know better and take things from her because she is food aggressive. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Morgan, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org. Story
Meet the perennially goofy and Just Happy to Be Included®, Bowie the Border Collie. He is a 5-year old, 90lb Border Collie (as the name implies), with a big goofy smile and a sunny disposition. Bowie was one of my mother's furbabies, and she passed unexpectedly this year, leaving my partner and I scrambling to find a home for him and his dog-brother Scout. We are unfortunately unable to foster them indefinitely due to our own existing pet situation, and we need to find them a good home as soon as possible. Bowie is a laid back, very zen, sometimes a little derpy, pup who loves to take walks and chase squirrels, but is equally comfortable just lounging around all day. Bowie is great with kids, he lived with my Niece his whole life, and is very gentle and loving with her. He's great at chasing balls, just not great at returning them. He gets along great with other dogs, and has lived with cats before, though not recently. He is currently living with us and his brother Scout. Bowie, as I mentioned before, is just happy to be included, whether that is playing with Scout, walks, sitting on the porch drinking coffee (not him, me) or whatever else is going on. He is calm under pressure, has no storm/thunder anxiety, and no destructive behaviors (digging, chewing, clawing). Bowie absolutely adores belly rubs and will flop over at your feet and let you rub his belly for hours and just fall asleep. Hands will definitely get tired before Bowie does. An ideal home for Bowie would be one that could also take his brother Scout, but that at minimum has other dog(s) to interact with and keep him company and lead his little pack of one. Bowie IS currently on medication for arthritis and hyperthyroidism, so he does have medical needs that have to be considered, but we are hoping as we get his weight down (my mother was unable to exercise him and was not diligent in portion control the last year or so) that these conditions should be ameliorated or resolved. Bowie is leash and house trained. My mother spent some time crate training him but fell out of practice as her health declined and he hasn't needed one for a while. He should take to it quickly though if crate training is needed in your home, and knows the basics of Sit, Stay, Come. We are planning on sending him and Scout to training school as soon as Scout recovers from neuter surgery so maybe by the time you read this he'll know even more commands! This sweet and loving pup is deserving of the perfect furever home. Could it be with you? Apply to adopt Bowie III today! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Bowie III, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org. Story
Meet the loyal, playful Luthien (â&#194&#128&#194&#156Luâ&#194&#128&#194&#157). She is a 2-year-old, 50-pound lab/collie mix with beautiful glossy black fur, one white sock, and a friendly attitude toward people. Lu was rescued from the animal shelter in Collin County, TX, in September 2023. Despite coming from a pet hoarding situation, Lu adjusted to her new indoor-outdoor life very well. Lu has been reactive to the prior resident older dog and would be safer and happier as an only pet. Lu enjoys running in the backyard, going for walks, and playing or chilling in the house with her people. While she adores individual, affectionate attention, she also seems to understand when playtime is over and calms down. She could easily rise to the activity level of a very active owner, but as long as she gets some daily mental and physical exercise, she is content to just be near her people. Lu is extremely gentle and easygoing with kids and babies, reactive toward dogs, and untested around cats. Her ideal living environment is the only animal in the home of involved owners. Lu is crate trained, house trained, and improving on leash training. She is spayed, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. She obeys sit, lay down, leave it, outside, and backup, and is improving on wait. She is very easy to train and motivated to learn! Some of Luâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s favorites are tug of war, fetch, space to run, belly and chest rubs, food puzzles, gentle brushing, car rides, walks, being outside, a cozy dog bed, dog chews and antlers, peanut butter, and watching TV together in the evening. This committed adventure buddy is deserving of the perfect fur-ever home. Are you ready to love her? Lu is ready to love you. Apply to adopt Luthien today! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Luthien, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org.
