Story
Meet Wedge! I’m an eight-year-old boy weighing 21 pounds. I’m housebroken, crate-trained, and I can even use a doggie door! Now, let me tell you what I love and don’t love. I absolutely adore traveling, camping, small hikes, and walks. I love people-watching at dog-friendly patios and watching whatever catches my eye on TV. I’m not a night owl and love to go to bed early. I’m happy to sleep in my bed, but I’m always up for an invite to share yours. On the other hand, I don’t like being around a lot of people in small spaces. And I’m not a fan of little people in my face. I’m more of the quiet and reserved kind of guy. I like other dogs that are my size and calm. (I’m not sure how I feel about cats.) And I’m not really into giving kisses. But if you’re up for showering me with kisses and love, I’m all ears!If you’re looking for a good, loving, and quiet handsome little guy, swipe right and let’s meet!To set up a meet and greet or inquire about a dog, please first fill out an application at https://savinghoperescue.org/adopt. It doesn`t obligate you, but it is the first step. We don`t get to all of the inquiries but respond to all applications. Thank you for choosing to rescue!

Story
Maggie may have spent time on her own, but sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s off to a great start getting to know all her new friends. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s met both big dogs and little dogs, and even when her curiosity gets the best of her, she takes a cue from her new friends. Cats will keep her amused, even if they are uninterested in her. She knows how to walk on her leash, sleep in her crate, and take care of business outside. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s played well with young children, but she can benefit from the loving guidance of adults to help her become more confident. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll learn from a family who wants to help her become her best self. In her eyes, youâ&#194&#128&#194&#153re everything! Maggie has plenty of energy and will enjoy getting out for a run in addition to her walks. She loves toys, catching a ball, and playing tug. For a family with lots of love to offer to her, sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll steal your heart, and youâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ll love her anyway! All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. The standard minimum donation for dogs over six months to seven years is $200, puppies under six months is $250, dogs eight years and over are $100 unless specified otherwise. You can view all adoptable pets and fill out an adoption application online on our website at http://dallaspetsalive.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/. Story
Meet the perennially goofy and Just Happy to Be Included®, Bowie the Border Collie. He is a 5-year old, 90lb Border Collie (as the name implies), with a big goofy smile and a sunny disposition. Bowie was one of my mother's furbabies, and she passed unexpectedly this year, leaving my partner and I scrambling to find a home for him and his dog-brother Scout. We are unfortunately unable to foster them indefinitely due to our own existing pet situation, and we need to find them a good home as soon as possible. Bowie is a laid back, very zen, sometimes a little derpy, pup who loves to take walks and chase squirrels, but is equally comfortable just lounging around all day. Bowie is great with kids, he lived with my Niece his whole life, and is very gentle and loving with her. He's great at chasing balls, just not great at returning them. He gets along great with other dogs, and has lived with cats before, though not recently. Bowie, as I mentioned before, is just happy to be included, whether that is playing with other pups, walks, sitting on the porch drinking coffee (not him, me) or whatever else is going on. He is calm under pressure, has no storm/thunder anxiety, and no destructive behaviors (digging, chewing, clawing). Bowie absolutely adores belly rubs and will flop over at your feet and let you rub his belly for hours and just fall asleep. Hands will definitely get tired before Bowie does. An ideal home for Bowie would be one with other dog(s) to interact with and keep him company and lead his little pack of one. Bowie IS currently on medication for arthritis and hyperthyroidism, so he does have medical needs that have to be considered, but we are hoping as we get his weight down (my mother was unable to exercise him and was not diligent in portion control the last year or so) that these conditions should be ameliorated or resolved. Bowie is leash and house trained. My mother spent some time crate training him but fell out of practice as her health declined and he hasn't needed one for a while. He should take to it quickly though if crate training is needed in your home, and knows the basics of Sit, Stay, Come. This sweet and loving pup is deserving of the perfect furever home. Could it be with you? Story
Nutmeg is approximately 4 years old and is a red heeler mix. He is always happy and gets along with other dogs and currently lives in a household with a cat. He is moderately playful and willing to follow other dogs leads. Because of his herding instinct he does nip at strangers that come on his turf. We aren't sure how he is with small children but believe he will do well with older ones. Nutmeg is  housetrained, neutered and current on his vaccines. He doesn't like being in a crate so is loose in the house or outside. We feel he would be fine in a one dog family providing his human(s) has the desire and plenty of time to spend with him. A home visit is part of his adoption process so he is available for adoption in the immediate DFW area only. If interested in Nutmeg please email us for a pre adoption questionnaire which is the first step in the adoption process. April 9, 2023, 12:13 am
