Story
Meet Fry, a 10 month old pug mix with the most adorable pout. Fry came in with his sister, Leela, and they were terrified of their new surroundings. At 10 months old, they were just experiencing walking on a leash for the first time. Now he is walking so well on leash, and loves to take nice leisurely strolls where he can sniff as much as his little heart desires. We’ve loved seeing him blossom as much as he has while here at the shelter. His playful side is starting to come out and we think he’d do great in a home with another dog! He may need some time to warm up when meeting new people, but a little patience and some treats sure go a long way! At this time, the shelter is requiring him to go home with another dog, to help bring him out of his shell and bridge his relationship to people! His sister Leela and him make an adorable pair, but if you have another playful pup at home that would work too! Fry follows the lead of the other, more confident pups, to show him that people are friends and not as scary as he thinks they are. Even with another dog in the home, he may require more than one visit before he starts to open up and be comfortable enough to go home.March 7, 2026, 9:20 pm

Story
This kiddo is cute as a bug…hence the name BUGSY! He is your typical pug, so sweet and goofy. This kiddo is a great walker, likes his toys, and gets along great with other dogs! He came in missing a lot of hair because he has a flea allergy and his previous family could no longer afford flea medication or his care. We got him started right away on flea meds and started bathing him every other day to get him back into tip top shape! Bugsy is paired up with a few pups and he just loves having friends! He is a cuddly guy who loves to get into your lap. We know this kiddo will make someone very happy! Hopefully he will find someone that can look past his current hair situation so he doesn’t have to be here long! Bugsy will be so happy to have a family of his own again.March 12, 2026, 3:25 pm

Meet Leela, the 10 month old pug mix. Her face always has the most adorable pout, and she is quick to make her way into both your lap and your heart when you meet her. Leela came in with her brother, Fry, and they were terrified of their new surroundings. At 10 months old, they were just experiencing walking on a leash for the first time. Now she is nearly a pro on the leash, and loves to take nice leisurely strolls where she can sniff as much as her heart desires. This girl is so full of love, she just wants to be close to you and crawl up into your lap and give kisses. We’ve loved seeing her blossom as much as she has while here at the shelter. Her playful side has come out in full force! She may need some time to warm up when meeting new people, but a little patience and some treats sure go a long way! Story
Meet Otis – Our Valley Fever Survivor Who’s Ready for His Next Chapter Otis is an 8-year-old, 23 lb Boston Terrier who has already fought — and won — the biggest battle of his life. When he came to us, he was suffering from a severe case of Valley Fever that caused extreme pain, fever, and regurgitation. Thanks to incredible veterinary care and his own determination, Otis pulled through and is now stable, comfortable, and enjoying life again. Otis is still on long-term antifungal medication, and Boston Buddies will cover all Valley Fever–related medications and follow-up testing for as long as needed. As Otis has started feeling better and stronger, some challenges have developed in his current home. He is doing well with female dogs but has shown he prefers not to live with other male dogs. For everyone’s safety and happiness, we are now searching for a foster or forever home where Otis can be the only dog or live with a small female companion. Otis Highlights: • Ball is life — he loves fetch and will happily entertain himself • Professional blanket rearranger and dog bed interior designer • Crate trained and comfortable with cozy bedding • Master hole digger and ball burier • Has perfected the art of dramatic pouting • Takes his meds like a champ… as long as there’s liverwurst involved Otis is still polishing his house training skills and may need patience and structure in a new home. He thrives with clear rules and confident leadership — if there’s a power vacuum, Otis is ready to step in as King of the Castle. Otis can be a little independent and sometimes aloof, likely from a past life where he may not have been treated as a family member. But he is learning what love and safety mean, and he is showing more connection every day. What Otis really wants is simple: A calm home. A sunny spot to nap. Unlimited ball time. A family who sees how special he is. If you can give this brave little survivor the life he deserves, please apply: Adopt: https://www.bostonbuddies.org/adoption-application/ Foster: https://www.bostonbuddies.org/foster-application/ Located in Southern California Adoption Fee: $350 Otis has fought so hard to be here. Now he just needs someone to choose him.   View more photos on our facebook page  https://www.facebook.com/BostonBuddiesInc February 19, 2026, 4:57 pm

Story
Meet Buddy & Obi — Two Sweet Brothers Looking for Their Forever Home Buddy (Brown and White) and Obi (Black and White) are a pair of 4-year-old littermates whose lives turned upside down last June when they were left at the shelter by owners who said they no longer had time for them. But these boys never stopped loving, trusting, or trying — and now they’re ready for the loving home they’ve always deserved. Both Buddy and Obi are vision-impaired, but don’t let that fool you — they get around wonderfully and have adapted with resilience, courage, and a whole lot of heart. Obi’s Story When Obi arrived at the shelter, he was heartbreakingly underweight. His former owners reported he’d been losing weight for six months — without ever receiving medical care. Boston Buddies immediately stepped in, got him to a veterinary internist, and ran bloodwork and an ultrasound. Obi was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD) and Protein-Losing Enteropathy (PLE). The vet recommended starting with a prescription hydrolyzed diet — and it worked like magic. Obi has thrived. He’s gained weight – he now weighs 29 lbs. which is MORE than Buddy who weighs in at 27 lbs.- , filled out beautifully, and is finally healthy and comfortable. He will need to remain on this special diet, but it’s truly been life-changing for him. Both boys eat the same diet to keep things simple (and to prevent Obi from sneaking Buddy’s food — trust us, he would!). Obi now has energy, softness to his body, and no more hip bones sticking out. His foster family has done wonders, and he’s ready for the next chapter. Their Personalities These boys are truly the sweetest. They adore people — especially kids — and warm up quickly. They love to wrestle, play, snuggle, and explore. Despite their vision challenges, they adjust to new spaces surprisingly well. They’re potty trained, use a doggy door independently, and are very food-motivated (Obi might just be the fastest eater on planet Earth). Their vision impairment does mean they can be startled by loud noises like trash trucks, leaf blowers, or loud cars. When scared, they may freeze or sit down, especially Buddy. Walks are still one of their favorite activities — they just need a patient, understanding human to reassure them. A home without stairs is best, as they can manage a few with guidance but not independently. When meeting new people, they can get excited and a bit jumpy — not out of rudeness, but because they’re trying to “feel out” who’s there when they can’t fully see. A Little About Each Boy Obi • goofy, carefree, and slightly clumsy • loves being outside • professional grass roller • navigates the world beautifully with his nose • vision is more impaired than Buddy’s • bumps into things sometimes — but just shakes it off and keeps going Think of Obi as the goofy, lovable teen brother who always keeps things light. Buddy • loves toys and bones • insists on peeing on every tree during walks • your punctual “meal time” reminder • more cautious and thoughtful • sometimes has anxiety-related accidents, but they’re infrequent and come in phases Buddy is the charming, slightly grumpy “old man” of the duo — even though he’s only 4. Most important of all: Buddy and Obi are deeply bonded. They find comfort, confidence, and joy in each other, so they must be adopted together. They are ready for a calm, loving home that understands their needs, celebrates their quirks, and cherishes them as they deserve. Location: Southern California Adoption Fee: The $300 fee for this pair has already been sponsored by a fan of Buddy and Obi's!  Ready to meet them? Submit an adoption application here: https://www.bostonbuddies.org/adoption-application/ Help these two sweet brothers start the next beautiful chapter of their lives — together.   View more photos and videos on our facebook page  https://www.facebook.com/BostonBuddiesInc December 11, 2025, 12:16 am

Story
Home for the Holidays Needed for Moe!   Meet Moe — a 7-year-old, 21-lb. stunner who narrowly escaped spending the holidays behind shelter walls. He found himself at the Downey Shelter just before Thanksgiving as a stray and was down to his final 72 hours when Boston Buddies swooped in the moment we learned about him!   The shelter listed Moe as a French Bulldog, but we’re pretty sure he’s a Boston… maybe a Frenchton? Either way, those ears are screaming Boston, and his gorgeous brindle coat makes him look like a little tiger .   Moe sat patiently at the shelter, waiting for someone to notice what a gem he is — but no one came. Thankfully, one of our amazing volunteers did. She’s completely smitten and says if she weren’t already at capacity, Moe would already be home.   Moe even brought his favorite toy with him when he left the shelter . He’s currently hanging out at our vet’s office and is more than ready — no, needs — to start living the good life in a real home. Whether temporarily as a foster or forever as family, Moe is ready. Can you open your heart and home to Moe?   Please submit an application at www.bostonbuddies.org Questions? Email us at contactus@bostonbuddies.org Let’s get Moe a Home for the Holidays. He already spent one holiday in a shelter — let’s not let him down for a second one. Moe is located in Southern California. Please share to help Moe find his miracle December 15, 2025, 11:03 pm
