Low maintenance- meaning not demanding and a good energy level. If this listing is still posted, we are still accepting applications. We do not do out-of-state adoptions. We do not hold dogs, please submit your application when you are ready to adopt. If you are interested in meeting any Poochmatch dog, please visit our website to complete an adoption application. It is in the ADOPTION folder at the top of our home page. Just fill in the blanks and SEND. We commonly receive multiple applications for a single dog. Story
Emmett is a love bug! He's very sweet, gentle, timid, cautious, and calm. He sometimes wants to play but can’t play for long because he coughs when excited. He loves following his person around, always, and sitting next to you on the sofa. He gets so happy when he gets attention. When you call his name, he wags his tail immediately and climbs all over you, rubbing his body on you. Emmett is a good listener. If you tell him, "No, Emmett," he'll stop whtever he's doing and look at you apologetically. Emmett is trained on the pee pad and can potty outside but may need reinforcement in a new home. Emmett occasionally marks if other dogs are in the house. Emmett only barks during meal prep and when his human returns home. Not alpha. Gets along well with other dogs but prefers the company of people. He's independent and doesn’t care about other dogs. He would be better in a home without other dogs but can live with other dogs. When held and another dog comes near, he tries to nip. Emmett can be left home alone for hours, but he cries or howls for a few minutes and then falls asleep. Emmett doesn’t like being alone for long periods, so we hope his future family will spend plenty of time with him. Originally found as a stray, we rescued Emmet in October 2024 from a high-kill shelter in Korea. Health considerations: Emmett has bronchial stenosis (narrow airway), which can cause him to cough, especially when excited or after eating. He’s sensitive to temperature, dry air, & poor air quality, but since he’s been in the US, he’s been doing very well. He would do well with a humidifier, nebulizer, supplements, and weight control to manage his airway — although we haven’t needed to use these tools since he’s been in the US. He has lichenification in his ears & feet, a thickening & wrinkling of skin from chronic rubbing, scratching or licking. You should clean Emmett’s ears and feet with disinfectant regularly. Emmett is currently fostered in Los Angeles, CA. We adopt out of state! You just have to travel to him to pick him up.

Story
Meet Buddy & Obi — Two Sweet Brothers Looking for Their Forever Home Buddy (Brown and White) and Obi (Black and White) are a pair of 4-year-old littermates whose lives turned upside down last June when they were left at the shelter by owners who said they no longer had time for them. But these boys never stopped loving, trusting, or trying — and now they’re ready for the loving home they’ve always deserved. Both Buddy and Obi are vision-impaired, but don’t let that fool you — they get around wonderfully and have adapted with resilience, courage, and a whole lot of heart. Obi’s Story When Obi arrived at the shelter, he was heartbreakingly underweight. His former owners reported he’d been losing weight for six months — without ever receiving medical care. Boston Buddies immediately stepped in, got him to a veterinary internist, and ran bloodwork and an ultrasound. Obi was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD) and Protein-Losing Enteropathy (PLE). The vet recommended starting with a prescription hydrolyzed diet — and it worked like magic. Obi has thrived. He’s gained weight – he now weighs 29 lbs. which is MORE than Buddy who weighs in at 27 lbs.- , filled out beautifully, and is finally healthy and comfortable. He will need to remain on this special diet, but it’s truly been life-changing for him. Both boys eat the same diet to keep things simple (and to prevent Obi from sneaking Buddy’s food — trust us, he would!). Obi now has energy, softness to his body, and no more hip bones sticking out. His foster family has done wonders, and he’s ready for the next chapter. Their Personalities These boys are truly the sweetest. They adore people — especially kids — and warm up quickly. They love to wrestle, play, snuggle, and explore. Despite their vision challenges, they adjust to new spaces surprisingly well. They’re potty trained, use a doggy door independently, and are very food-motivated (Obi might just be the fastest eater on planet Earth). Their vision impairment does mean they can be startled by loud noises like trash trucks, leaf blowers, or loud cars. When scared, they may freeze or sit down, especially Buddy. Walks are still one of their favorite activities — they just need a patient, understanding human to reassure them. A home without stairs is best, as they can manage a few with guidance but not independently. When meeting new people, they can get excited and a bit jumpy — not out of rudeness, but because they’re trying to “feel out” who’s there when they can’t fully see. A Little About Each Boy Obi • goofy, carefree, and slightly clumsy • loves being outside • professional grass roller • navigates the world beautifully with his nose • vision is more impaired than Buddy’s • bumps into things sometimes — but just shakes it off and keeps going Think of Obi as the goofy, lovable teen brother who always keeps things light. Buddy • loves toys and bones • insists on peeing on every tree during walks • your punctual “meal time” reminder • more cautious and thoughtful • sometimes has anxiety-related accidents, but they’re infrequent and come in phases Buddy is the charming, slightly grumpy “old man” of the duo — even though he’s only 4. Most important of all: Buddy and Obi are deeply bonded. They find comfort, confidence, and joy in each other, so they must be adopted together. They are ready for a calm, loving home that understands their needs, celebrates their quirks, and cherishes them as they deserve. Location: Southern California Adoption Fee: The $300 fee for this pair has already been sponsored by a fan of Buddy and Obi's!  Ready to meet them? Story
Meet Gus – A Sweet Senior Looking for a Loving Home Formerly known as Shadow, Gus may look familiar — and that’s because he’s already touched hearts before! This charming 12-year-old Boston Terrier first came to Boston Buddies from the OC shelter about a year ago and was quickly adopted by a loving older couple. He enjoyed a happy life filled with love and companionship. Sadly, Gus’s world changed when his beloved dad passed away and his mom’s health no longer allowed her to care for him. Now, Gus is looking for a second chance at forever — a new family who has room in their heart for a gentle, older gentleman. Gus is the definition of easygoing. He loves lounging around the house and is perfectly content with a peaceful day followed by a leisurely evening walk. He’s great on a leash (unless a cheeky squirrel crosses his path!), sleeps quietly through the night in his crate, and is fully house-trained — he even uses a doggie door like a pro. Gus gets along well with other dogs and enjoys meeting new friends on his walks. He hasn’t met any cats, but he’s very interested in the birds and squirrels in his foster home's yard — so a home without small, fast-moving critters might be best! He’s a big fan of mealtime — especially important now that he's on a special hepatic diet to support his liver health. He also has a bit of seasonal itchiness that’s easily managed with a Cytopoint shot every few months. Simply put, Gus is a sweet soul who just wants a comfy spot to nap, a kind human (or two) to love, and maybe a few tasty treats along the way. Are you the one to give Gus the golden years he deserves? Fill out an application at www.bostonbuddies.org Gus is currently being fostered in Southern California Adoption Fee: $250   View more photos on our facebook page  https://www.facebook.com/BostonBuddiesInc December 15, 2025, 11:03 pm

Story
Home for the Holidays Needed for Moe!   Meet Moe — a 7-year-old, 21-lb. stunner who narrowly escaped spending the holidays behind shelter walls. He found himself at the Downey Shelter just before Thanksgiving as a stray and was down to his final 72 hours when Boston Buddies swooped in the moment we learned about him!   The shelter listed Moe as a French Bulldog, but we’re pretty sure he’s a Boston… maybe a Frenchton? Either way, those ears are screaming Boston, and his gorgeous brindle coat makes him look like a little tiger .   Moe sat patiently at the shelter, waiting for someone to notice what a gem he is — but no one came. Thankfully, one of our amazing volunteers did. She’s completely smitten and says if she weren’t already at capacity, Moe would already be home.   Moe even brought his favorite toy with him when he left the shelter . He’s currently hanging out at our vet’s office and is more than ready — no, needs — to start living the good life in a real home. Whether temporarily as a foster or forever as family, Moe is ready. Can you open your heart and home to Moe?   Please submit an application at www.bostonbuddies.org Questions? Email us at contactus@bostonbuddies.org Let’s get Moe a Home for the Holidays. He already spent one holiday in a shelter — let’s not let him down for a second one. Moe is located in Southern California. Please share to help Moe find his miracle December 15, 2025, 11:03 pm
