Eddie is a definite Heinz 57.. we think he is part shepherd but really have no idea what else. He is only 35-40 lbs and knee high. He is really sweet, crate trained, takes treats very gently, active and playful. He likes some dogs, but not all. Please help us make room to save more homeless pets!!! Story
Things Maple loves: - Loves attention and people- Can be around other dogs, people (including kids) and cats. Would recommend supervision for younger kids and cats as she is still learning- Loves going on hikes/long walks at the park - Loves training and daycare- Puzzle toys, treat dispensers, snuffle mats and kongs/lick mats- Dog safe fruits, veggies, cheese, etc. - Will sleep in a covered crate (just to avoid distractions)- Does not damage beds inside crate and does not try to escape- Loves pup cups and car rides. Does not get car sick. But does need to be restrained (dog seat belt)Commands/Tricks Maple knows: - Sit- Down- Paw/High Five- Wait - Leave it/Drop it/Take it (work in progress)- Walks decently on a leash (but will pull if she sees small animals)- Go to bed (crate)- Go to place (elevated bed/mat) - Look at me- Touch (touch hand target) Maple has been in obedience training which Helping Strays provides at no charge to adopters. Her new adopters should continue working on obedience training to maintain commands and manners that she has learned. Maple is an active girl and would benefit from a family who will take her on daily walks and outings to drain her energy. She would be great for dog sports.Maple can jump pretty high and a 6-foot fence is recommended to avoid any escaping. She is sensitive to sounds and can bark to alert what she doesn't recognize.Maple is 7 months old and weighs approx. 45 pounds.Location: Foster homeThe adoption fee for adult dogs, seven months and older, is $250. All pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you would like to meet Maple, call the shelter and make an appointment to meet her or complete an online adoption application on our website. If you currently have a dog at home, we recommend bringing them to also meet Maple.helpingstrays.org

Barrett is handsome and very photogenic! He is a friendly guy who is good with children and other dogs. He enjoys playing in the yard and likes to roll on his back in the grass. Ropes and frisbees are his favorite toys; sit and shake are commands he knows. Barrett is 8 years old and weighs 65 pounds. The adoption fee for adult dogs, seven months and older, is $250. All pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you are interested in meeting Barrett, please stop by the shelter during open hours or complete an adoption application on our website. If you currently have a dog at home, we recommend bringing it to meet Barrett.helpingstrays.orgBarrett has heartworms and will be starting treatment soon. He would greatly benefit from having a calm home to recuperate in rather than trying to rest in a noisy and stressful shelter environment. If you would like to provide a foster home during Barrett's heartworm treatment, Helping Strays will provide everything you need; the medical care, crate, food, etc. Barrett can still be adopted but will need to come back to the shelter periodically to complete his treatment which is covered in the adoption fee.

Story
🎁🐾 Angel: A Gift of Love in a Compact Package 🐾🎁 This holiday season, unwrap the greatest gift of all – the boundless love of Angel. While she might not be the largest boxer you've ever met, Angel more than compensates with the size of her BIG heart. Angel's Special Qualities: 🐾 Stature: Not the biggest, but the most heartful ❤️ Heart: Overflowing with love and affection However, Angel carries the weight of past traumas, making her quite apprehensive around other dogs and not fond of our feline friends. As you can imagine, shelter life is especially stressful for this sensitive pup. In a time when our animal control is stretched to its limit, we're making a heartfelt plea. Let's ensure that these discarded four-legged family members don't spend the holidays alone, devoid of the warmth of a loving family. Responsibilities for Angel's New Family: 🏷️ Microchip: To ensure her safety and easy identification 💉 UTD on Shots: Keeping her vaccinations up-to-date ✂️ Spayed: Already taken care of, so no additional worries These extras are not included in the adoption fee but are crucial for Angel's continued well-being. Let Angel be the gift that keeps on giving, radiating love, warmth, and joy in your home. Contact us today if you're ready to welcome this precious soul into your family. Let's make this holiday season one filled with love, compassion, and the companionship of a furry friend. 🏡❤️🐾

Story
This is Zues. Zues lived with his previous owner from puppy until he was 6. He was then dumped on the streets by a family member of his owner who said they would take care of him since his owner was no longer able. Due to the extreme change in his life, Zues is an anxious guy when you first meet him. After he warms up, he is the sweetest boy in the world. He loves ear rubs and cuddles. He is nuetured, house trained, and up to date on shots. He does not chew up things when left alone except for his toys. He loves kongs and tennis balls. Zues is partially blind. Our vet thinks it is something that he was born with and currently can only see a little bit, probably mostly shadows. He gets around fine but will trip over/run into things from time to time. The vet said the disease will eventually cause full blindness but no other health concerns. Due to his semi-blindness he is nervous around other dogs at first, especially bigger dogs and takes some time to warm up.
