Story
We got Paco at APA in Brentwood 5 years ago as a puppy. He has been a great dog. He is super cuddly and affectionate. We had a baby 8 months ago and he has just not acclimated well to this change. He is pretty energetic and needs someplace with a fenced in backyard to get this energy out. However, once he is inside he is usually a lazy sack of potatoes. He hardly ever barks and would do best with no young kids and where someone will be home often.

Story
Macho Nacho🌮💛— A Couch Potato Extraordinaire & Friendly Pup Available for Adoption or Foster Takeover!! Imagine you are stuck in a kennel for 23.5 hours, every day, for over 100 days. It’s loud, it’s scary, and everytime a volunteer or staff member comes to get you, you’re so relieved for human connection that you immediately roll over for belly rubs and pets. You go on several meets to hopefully leave with your forever family, but one ever chooses you. So you keep on waiting and increasingly start to feel the stress of being stuck here daily. This was Macho’s life for several months until a lifesaving temporary foster gave him a chance and pulled him out the shelter for a few nights this week. Macho is thriving in foster—a real home, and proved he is everything we thought he would be. Gentle, snuggly, calm and friendly! His foster says he is incredibly sweet, loves the couch, and loves for cuddles! He has no problem sleeping in the crate or hanging out in there for a few hours while his humans are at work. He’s a very good walker with little to no pulling, except maybe getting excited for the occasional squirrel doing the opposite of minding its business and staying out the way. He has been very friendly meeting new people. Macho hasn’t officially lived with another dog yet in foster but has done well on several pack walks at the shelter and is nonreactive to othee dogs on walks. With slow, thoughtful introductions, he could be a good candidate for a canine friend! Macho is with his temp foster until Saturday 8/22. If you can’t wait to meet him, apply for him today! That will put you in contact with his fosters do they can set up a meet and greet with you! Otherwise, come meet him on-site this weekend to adopt him or become his new foster! He would love and extremely benefit from staying out the shelter!

Story
Rainier is a bit nervous when he's outside exposed to the big, loud world, but once he knows he’s safe with you? He melts. 🐕 Playgroup Rockstar While the big outdoors might intimidate him a bit, put him around another playful dog and his confidence skyrockets! Rainier absolutely shines around other pups. His Play Style: Bouncy, silly, and full of play bows! He loves a good game of body slams, and rolling around with a canine friend. The Social Butterfly: He’s a vocal boy who will give little yelps to say, "Hey, don't stop, let's keep playing!" Great Manners: Even though he's still learning his initial sniffing manners, he is incredibly respectful. When his play partner wants a break, Rainier takes the hint and happily gives them space. Note: Rainier would really shine in a home with a confident dog friend in his future home! Having a canine buddy helps him realize the world isn't so scary after all. 🏡 Rainier’s Wishlist: A patient family ready to shower him with love and reassurance. A confident resident dog to be his playmate and guide. Plenty of regular brushing sessions. Rainier is proof that the sweetest hearts often come in the most sensitive packages. Could you be the one to show this scared baby boy that he's safe forever? Inquire about adopting or fostering-to-adopt Rainier today!

Story
Meet Ribbons, a beautiful pup with the energy of a young dog and the manners of a mature lady. She is housebroken, trained on the basics, food-motivated enough to keep learning, eager to please, and very smart. She is a happy girl with a very strong tail that wags a lot; would be a great companion for a family without tiny children. She loves her walks and is great on a run. A genuine people person (dog), Ribbons is beloved by all who meet her. She enjoys belly rubs, scratches, and visiting with people who invite her into their shops as she walks down Grand (it keeps happening - people love her!). She has an indestructible rubber ball. Her mission in life is to go get it. At least once a day, her foster family reports, Ribbons decides no one is paying enough attention to her and drops her ball near someone’s feet. Otherwise, she is a very chill girl around the house - avoiding the cat and napping a lot. A previous foster reported that Ribbons is good with other dogs. Today, we can say that she is dog-reactive on walks, but she seems to really want to meet them and is getting better with training. Slow introductions would be in order before she integrates into a household with other dogs.

Story
Ace is about a year old. He lived a good chunk of the first 10 months of his life completely outdoors before I took him in. So he's not very well socialized or trained. But he is very good about letting you know he has to potty so he is house trained. Right now we're working on Crate and Obedience training. He is rambunctious and has a jumping and mouthing problem, which I'm working on. He loves squeaky toys and especially balls, but be careful, he will eat anything plush--including tennis balls. He doesn't get along well with my dogs because he isn't well socialized, and my dogs are super chill. So they take offense to him jumping on them. I've been keeping them separate for now. He is not very aggressive except in that he wants to play and he wants your attention. He is reactive to other dogs because he wants to play very badly. He is otherwise very sweet and will be an excellent cuddler.
