Story
Yesterday marked Rosie's 1 year anniversary being with us. That's 365 days she's waited for a forever home. Although her foster mom loves her she'd love even more Rosie finding her family. Please share our sweet girl! Rosie is a 4-5 year old boxer/pittie mix who is as sweet as they come. She loves all people and especially adores children. She would do best as an only pet (no dogs or cats) and will offer unconditional love, greetings with toys, and tail wags. She’s completely house trained, never having a single accident since rescued, just an all around great girl. If you’re looking to add an incredibly loving pup to your home please fill out an application.   Her adoption fee has been sponsored for an approved application! Story
Here’s a more polished and engaging version of Cali’s bio, with added details about her living situation with young children in her foster home: --- **Meet Cali!** 🐾 Cali is a stunning 1-year-old, 50-pound Boxer mix with a heart as big as her smile. This sweet girl has already been through so much in her young life—she was found as a pregnant stray and bravely brought nine beautiful puppies into the world in August (all of whom have found their forever homes—yay!). Cali was the most devoted and loving momma, and now it’s her turn to be spoiled! Unfortunately, Cali was heartworm positive when she was rescued, but she’s a fighter! She has completed her treatment and is on her way to being heartworm-free, leaving her life of neglect behind her. Cali is ready to start a new chapter with a family who will cherish her for the rest of her years. Cali is an absolute love bug who adores people of all ages. She’s currently living in a foster home with several young children and has proven to be gentle, patient, and playful with them. She’s also great with other dogs and could potentially learn to live with a cat, though her playful nature might be a bit too much for some feline friends. With her adventurous spirit and affectionate personality, Cali is the perfect companion for an active family or individual looking for a loyal, fun-loving partner. Whether it’s exploring the great outdoors or snuggling on the couch, Cali is ready to bring joy and love into your life. If you’re looking for a sweet, resilient, and energetic girl to join your family, Cali might just be the one for you! 🐶💕 Please apply at www.soardogs.org Adoption donation required. This covers altering, DAP series vaccinations to date of adoption, Bordetella Vaccination, Rabies vaccination if over four months, Microchip, Deworming, heartworm test (if over 8 months), monthly flea/heartworm prevention to date, grooming, full veterinary examination, and temperament evaluation. All SOAR dogs go through a ten-day quarantine period to ensure they are healthy, before being adopted. We do not operate on a first come first serve basis, but screen applicants in order to find the best fit for our adoptable dogs.

Story
Hello, I'm Sissie. I've been passed around a bit and unfortunetly this isn't my first time here at PCHS. I was adopted when I was a young pup but somehow ended up on the streets with no place to call home. I'm shy to new people but warm up with some treats. Once we're friends, I'm the sweetest girl. Can you be my patient friend? If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##659584##

Story
Kiwi was rescued 2 years ago from the APA. Her approximate age now is 5 years old. She is 60lbs and is truly the sweetest girl. Has been around various ages of children and loves them, currently living with an 81 year old- so good with elderly, loves other dogs, good with cats, good with being bathed, is potty trained and good on a leash. She does have severe separation anxiety and needs fluoxetine regularly and trazodone as needed. Right now the owners fence is 5ft and she will jump it if not being watched. When being kenneled she does need trazodone for anxiety. She is being re-homed due to her owner having physical health issues since rescuing her. With his now limited mobility, he is unable to properly walk/exercise her. The current owner will be moving into a retirement community soon, so we are getting ahead in finding her a new home. ***Up to date on vaccinations. Will supply month of fluoxetine/trazodone, Apple AirTag, and 2 bags of dog food.

Story
Max was born here at Country Acres Rescue on October 9, 2023. He had NINE brothers and ONE sister. His Mama, Gabby, was transferred from an Animal Control with no staff or air conditioning back in September; we had NO idea she was pregnant, let alone pregnant with ten puppies! What a surprise! Gabby was such a good Mama; very attentive, loving, protective and provided plenty of milk for each baby - all ten pups are plump and HEALTHY. Max is such a happy, energetic, cutie-pie! Max loves other dogs, such a good playmate!!! Max would do best in a home with older children. He knows how to sit, stay and lay down. He is ready for his chance at a loving home. Please call CAR at 636-227-1919 to inquire more on how to adopt Max!
