Macho Nacho🌮💛— A Couch Potato Extraordinaire & Friendly Pup Available for Adoption or Foster Takeover!! Imagine you are stuck in a kennel for 23.5 hours, every day, for over 100 days. It’s loud, it’s scary, and everytime a volunteer or staff member comes to get you, you’re so relieved for human connection that you immediately roll over for belly rubs and pets. You go on several meets to hopefully leave with your forever family, but one ever chooses you. So you keep on waiting and increasingly start to feel the stress of being stuck here daily. This was Macho’s life for several months until a lifesaving temporary foster gave him a chance and pulled him out the shelter for a few nights this week. Macho is thriving in foster—a real home, and proved he is everything we thought he would be. Gentle, snuggly, calm and friendly! His foster says he is incredibly sweet, loves the couch, and loves for cuddles! He has no problem sleeping in the crate or hanging out in there for a few hours while his humans are at work. He’s a very good walker with little to no pulling, except maybe getting excited for the occasional squirrel doing the opposite of minding its business and staying out the way. He has been very friendly meeting new people. Macho hasn’t officially lived with another dog yet in foster but has done well on several pack walks at the shelter and is nonreactive to othee dogs on walks. With slow, thoughtful introductions, he could be a good candidate for a canine friend! Macho is with his temp foster until Saturday 8/22. If you can’t wait to meet him, apply for him today! That will put you in contact with his fosters do they can set up a meet and greet with you! Otherwise, come meet him on-site this weekend to adopt him or become his new foster! He would love and extremely benefit from staying out the shelter!

Gibbs is so chill! Do you love spoiling your furry friends with fun toys and treats? Gibbs would gladly be your pampered pooch, chewing and chomping his way to your heart. He is crate-trained to snuggle up with a good toy and a bone when his fosters leave for the afternoon. One of his favorite summer treats is an ice cube! Gibbs gets along well with his foster family’s cats, too! He also shares a home with another dog, birds, and a sugar glider, and he is not bothered by them either. He was also great with a neighbor’s puppy when they met. One of his favorite places to hang out is on the couch with his foster dog sister and his foster parents. At two years old and 55 pounds, Gibbs is extremely chill and low-energy for a young dog. A home where he can learn to play more and enjoy a fenced yard would be ideal. His foster family takes him out on a leash for potty breaks and exercise. He is a little shy when meeting new people, but he warms up fairly quickly. It’s unknown how Gibbs would react to young children, but he would likely be shy at first. Just one look at his great big eyes, and you’ll fall in love with this sweet boy. Want to learn more about Gibbs? Fill out the adoption application at istodaymydayrescue.org. Gibbs is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and heartworm-negative. His adoption fee is $325. He is being fostered in the DeSoto, Missouri area in Jefferson County.

Story
Hi there, my name's Ears... for obvious reasons. I am a middle-aged lady with plenty of spunk. I would prefer a home with no small children because, to be honest, hugs are just NOT my thing. I'd much rather snuggle up next to you on the couch. I love playing tug-of-war with my caretakers but if you are a v-e-t, no thanks. I have a special mask (muzzle) that I wear when I visit them and medication I take to keep me calm while I'm there. Handler's Note: Ears has a ton of energy and can be a bit dramatic when other dogs invade her personal space. If she is being harassed by another dog, she will give very loud, vocal corrections that can sometimes escalate the conflict. She has a bit of barrier aggression towards other dogs, but seems fine with them in Playgroup.
