Story
FloJo is sweet, lively, and playful and loves to chase balls in the yard. She is treat motivated and a sucker for a good belly rub, a surefire way to win her affection. FloJo knows basic commands and also knows how to speak when prompted, how to lay down for her food and she will go to the door when she needs an outside potty break. Flojo is good with children. She would thrive most as the only dog in the family. She is leash trained and remains calm when she sees other dogs. FloJo is three years old and weighs 88 lbs. Location: Foster homeAll pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you are interested in meeting a dog, please stop by the shelter during open hours. Dogs may be in a foster home, therefore scheduling an appointment is recommended. If you have an existing dog at home, we recommend bringing it along to meet your possible new family member.helpingstrays.org

Story
Meet Weston    Looking for a loyal shadow who will love you with his whole heart? Weston is your guy.   This sweet, affectionate boy loves being close to his people. He'll happily lean in for hugs, rest his head in your lap, and follow you from room to room as your devoted sidekick.   Weston is at the tail end of puppyhood, so you get the best of both worlds: he's fully potty trained but still has that fun, playful energy. He enjoys walks, chasing a ball in the yard, and relaxing nearby while his people work or watch TV. He sleeps soundly all night next to his people and can be left home alone for a few hours without any trouble.   Weston can be a little cautious with new people and new places, but once he trusts you, he's incredibly loving and loyal.   He enjoys other dogs but does best with clear boundaries around food, toys, and high-energy play. Because of this, he'd thrive either as the only dog in the home or with a calm, compatible canine companion. Weston would do best in a home with older children.   His ideal family is looking for more than a pet — they're looking for a best friend. If that's you, Weston is ready to love you for life.   If interested, please  complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Our $295 adoption fee includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. Story
My adoption fee is 75% off thanks to a grant from the Petfinder Foundation. So, it would only be $50 to make me a part of your family and give me a new chance at a joyful life! Hi, I'm Romeo! I was brought here as a tiny puppy from a place where I was barely getting fed. I was adopted shortly after and recently got returned due to weird circumstances. I suddenly had two injuries- an eye injury and a leg injury. I have gotten my eye removed and healed just fine. The shelter is still raising funds to get my leg surgery. I'm a sweet, goofy, and well behaved boy! I get along with everyone but I do have a tendacy to chase cats so I might be better in a home without cats.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2352756##
