Story
We adopted our 11-year-old calico cat with her sister as kittens. After moving to a new home, she developed severe anxiety and began struggling with other pets in the household. Despite working closely with our veterinarian, we were advised she would do best as the only pet in a calm, quiet home. She is very sweet, affectionate, and loves to cuddle. She has anxiety-related health issues, including recurrent UTIs, fur plucking, and gastrointestinal problems that require special food. She is spayed, declawed on all four paws, and up to date on vaccinations. This has been an extremely difficult decision, but we want her to have the best quality of life possible. We are looking for a patient, loving home where she can be comfortable, relaxed, and receive the one-on-one attention she deserves.

Story
Meet our 3‑year‑old female cat Hazel, a gentle soul who had a rough start in life after being abandoned as a tiny kitten. She’s grown into a loving, curious girl who enjoys rubbing on new adult visitors and choosing her own moments to be social. She loves to sit nearby, relax in sunny spots, and be part of the room on her own terms. She would thrive in a calm home with no children and no other pets. She becomes overwhelmed by toddlers and other animals, and she needs a peaceful environment where she can feel safe and confident. She’s touch‑sensitive, so she prefers affection she initiates herself and will let you know when she’s had enough. She’s healthy, litter‑trained, spayed, and has excellent house manners. She just needs the right match — someone patient, gentle, and understanding of a cat who didn’t get the best start in life but has so much potential in the right home.If you’re looking for a quiet companion who will bond deeply once she feels secure, she may be the perfect fit.

Story
Meet Ford! Ford is an approximately 1 year old male DSH cat who came to us as a stray. He was unfortunately apart of a large group of cats being fed by someone in the community, and they were no longer welcome in the neighborhood. After not being reclaimed by an owner, Ford has proven while he was originally scared when he arrived, that he really wanted to like humans. He has been slowly coming out of his shell, enjoys "talking" to us here at the shelter, and is getting used to his surroundings. Ford is cat friendly, but we are not sure about dogs. He uses his litterbox here. His adoption fee is $100, he is now neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and FELV/FIV negative. Please stop by the shelter to meet him, or call/email with questions: 630-553-9256 or animalcontrol@kendallcountyil.gov

Story
Meet Milo! He is a 1-2 years old (estimating) male neutered DSH cat. Milo came to us from a situation where someone could no longer care for the number of cats in their home. He is a shy guy, but sweet once he gets to know his people. He unfortunately came to us extremely overweight, and is now on a weight loss journey to wellness (he was about 17 lbs when he arrived.. and should be closer to 10-12 lbs). Milo is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and FELV/FIV negative. His adoption fee is $100. Please stop by the shelter to meet him, or call/email with questions: 630-553-9256 or animalcontrol@Kendallcountyil.gov

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Nova is a beautiful black cat, born approx Oct 2024.  She came into her original foster home very weary of people but has since warmed up and has become a fun friend in the home.  She loves to play!  Her favorite things are chasing laser lights and springs around the house with the other cats.  She loves to be pet but the are a specific number of times and you won't know until you hit that number and she gives you a little nip.  She will need someone who can understand her cues and would do best with older, respectful kids  While she isn't a lap cat, she does love to be around the action and is usually found in the same room as her people.  She is fearless as well and has no issue with loud noises, vacuums, kids, etc.  She will need a home with another cat as that is her go to and she loves to play with them.  She might even tolerate a calm, respectful dog.  She is fixed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.  Her adoption fee is $150  To adopt Nova, fill out an application at www.kakf.org/formsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 10:58 am
