Story
Meet Mittens! This sweet senior girl is looking forward to life in a real home, after living on the streets for quite some time. Mittens is estimated to be 12+years old, a senior gal, who is missing most of her teeth and her bloodwork indicates that she is slightly hyperthyroid, a common concern in older felines. She has started methimazole for this. Today, Mittens was spayed after a long life of being an intact girl, and she did have a mild pyometra and cysts so she is going to be feeling MUCH happier and more comfortable now. Mittens eats like a champ, uses the litterbox here, and loves attention and relaxing. She is now spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and FELV/FIV tested negative and had full panel bloodwork. If you are looking for a senior companion and want to give this sweet girl a great rest of her life, please stop by the shelter, or you can call or email with questions: 630-553-9256 or animalcontrol@Kendallcountyil.gov

Story
Truffle is an approximately 3 year old male DSH orange tabby who was brought to us by a good samaritan after finding him on the side of the road out in the country. Truffle was sitting in a pile of now and the snow was melted around him. He even had a collar on. We will never know how Truffle got there, but he was pretty sick when he arrived. He is doing much better now, and is neutered. We are still working on getting him acclimated here at the shelter. He will be able to be free to roam our communal cat room soon. Truffle's adoption fee is $100 and he is now neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and FELV/FIV tested negative. Please stop by the shelter to meet him, or call/email with questions: 630-553-9256 or animalcontrol@Kendallcountyil.gov

Story
Hero is a 1½-year-old sweetheart with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He’s full of energy and loves to play — wand toys, chasing, exploring… he’s always ready for fun. Because he’s still young, he really thrives with daily playtime and interaction. When he’s all played out, Hero can be incredibly cuddly and affectionate. He enjoys being near his people and will happily soak up attention and pets. He’s loving, curious, and has that perfect mix of playful and snuggly. Hero would do best in a home where he can be the only cat or with other young, playful cats who can match his energy. He doesn’t do well with older, low-energy cats who prefer a calmer environment. He’s such a special boy and deserves a home where he can truly thrive and be his happy, playful self.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Nova is a beautiful black cat, born approx Oct 2024.  She came into her original foster home very weary of people but has since warmed up and has become a fun friend in the home.  She loves to play!  Her favorite things are chasing laser lights and springs around the house with the other cats.  She loves to be pet but the are a specific number of times and you won't know until you hit that number and she gives you a little nip.  She will need someone who can understand her cues and would do best with older, respectful kids  While she isn't a lap cat, she does love to be around the action and is usually found in the same room as her people.  She is fearless as well and has no issue with loud noises, vacuums, kids, etc.  She will need a home with another cat as that is her go to and she loves to play with them.  She might even tolerate a calm, respectful dog.  She is fixed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.  Her adoption fee is $150  To adopt Nova, fill out an application at www.kakf.org/formsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 10:58 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi my name is Francie.  I'm a very typical calico female.  I'm hissy and a diva at first but once I get to know you I warm up.  I'm very independent, and like to play with my toys.  I like other kitties but love being the princess as well and doing my own thing.  I would be fine with another young kitty but would be best paired with a sibling I am already used to.  I might not do well with little kids but should be fine with older, respectful ones.  And I could possibly learn to tolerate a calm, respectful dog as well.  I am fixed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $200 ($350 if adopted as a pair) To adopt Francie, fill out an application at www.kakf.org/formsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 10:58 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sally is an adorable little brown tabby with white markings.  She and her sister Ebony were living in a homeless encampment with their mother and sister.  The man taking care of them wanted them to have a better life so he found a couple of nice people to take them in.  Sally is very friendly, loves to play, especially chase.  She is great with other cats and would do best with another cat friend in her home.  Sally can be a little shy around young, loud, energetic kids so she would probably prefer calmer, older kids.  She has never met a dog before and might be okay with a calm, respectful, disinterested dog with the right introduction.  She is fixed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.   Her adoption fee is $225 ($400 if adopted as a pair) To adopt Sally, fill out an application at www.kakf.org/formsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 10, 2026, 12:06 am
