Story
Meet our 3‑year‑old female cat Hazel, a gentle soul who had a rough start in life after being abandoned as a tiny kitten. She’s grown into a loving, curious girl who enjoys rubbing on new adult visitors and choosing her own moments to be social. She loves to sit nearby, relax in sunny spots, and be part of the room on her own terms. She would thrive in a calm home with no children and no other pets. She becomes overwhelmed by toddlers and other animals, and she needs a peaceful environment where she can feel safe and confident. She’s touch‑sensitive, so she prefers affection she initiates herself and will let you know when she’s had enough. She’s healthy, litter‑trained, spayed, and has excellent house manners. She just needs the right match — someone patient, gentle, and understanding of a cat who didn’t get the best start in life but has so much potential in the right home.If you’re looking for a quiet companion who will bond deeply once she feels secure, she may be the perfect fit.

Story
Shade is a 3 year old female DSH cat who came to us as an owner surrender. Shade had been urinating outside of the litterbox. When asked about any recent changes in the home, owners stated they recently acquired a new puppy that Shade hates. We would recommend that Shade goes to a home without dogs. She may do better as the only cat but only time will tell. She is free roaming in our adoption room and has not had any incidents of urination outside of the litterbox. Shade's adoption fee is $100. She is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and FELV/FIV negative. Stop by the shelter to meet this beautiful girl today!

Story
Beans is an 11 month old male DSH brown tabby and white kitty. He came in as an owner surrender due to frequent escapes which led to a neighbor feud. Beans appears to not like other cats, at least initially. We are unsure how he would do with dogs. Beans is housetrained. His adoption fee is $100 and he is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and FELV/FIV tested negative. If you are interested in adopting Beans, stop by the shelter or email/call with questions: 630-553-9256 or animalcontrol@kendallcountyil.gov

Story
Edward is around 4 years old and is a very sweet cat but has a ongoing problem of marking in the house. We've tried everything from medication to pheromone diffusers to help with this problem but he continues to do it. I think he may be better off as an outdoor or indoor/outdoor cat as he used to be a stray before he was rescued and we adopted him.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Nova is a beautiful black cat, born approx Oct 2024.  She came into her original foster home very weary of people but has since warmed up and has become a fun friend in the home.  She loves to play!  Her favorite things are chasing laser lights and springs around the house with the other cats.  She loves to be pet but the are a specific number of times and you won't know until you hit that number and she gives you a little nip.  She will need someone who can understand her cues and would do best with older, respectful kids  While she isn't a lap cat, she does love to be around the action and is usually found in the same room as her people.  She is fearless as well and has no issue with loud noises, vacuums, kids, etc.  She will need a home with another cat as that is her go to and she loves to play with them.  She might even tolerate a calm, respectful dog.  She is fixed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.  Her adoption fee is $150  To adopt Nova, fill out an application at www.kakf.org/formsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 10:58 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi my name is Francie.  I'm a very typical calico female.  I'm hissy and a diva at first but once I get to know you I warm up.  I'm very independent, and like to play with my toys.  I like other kitties but love being the princess as well and doing my own thing.  I would be fine with another young kitty but would be best paired with a sibling I am already used to.  I might not do well with little kids but should be fine with older, respectful ones.  And I could possibly learn to tolerate a calm, respectful dog as well.  I am fixed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $200 ($350 if adopted as a pair) To adopt Francie, fill out an application at www.kakf.org/formsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 10:58 am
