Story
Portugal’s story is one of resilience, kindness, and second chances. This handsome five year old black cat was found injured near a local citizen’s home, covered in several painful puncture wounds from what we can only imagine was a traumatic attack. Thankfully, a compassionate woman stepped in and refused to let him suffer alone. She rushed him to an emergency vet, covered his extensive medical care, and opened her home to him while he healed. Despite everything he has been through, Portugal has proven just how strong he is. He may be FIV+, but that certainly does not define him. In fact, Portugal seems to know just how lucky he is to have been saved, and now he is ready to find a forever home where he can finally relax and feel safe again. Portugal doesn`t mind the other cats as long as they respect his space. Right now, he would much rather be your one and only companion, soaking up all the love, comfort, and security he deserves. He has already survived so much, and now all he needs is someone willing to give him the peaceful next chapter he has been waiting for. Black cats and FIV+ cats are often overlooked, but Portugal is proof that some of the most special souls simply need someone willing to see their worth. FIV+ cats are some of the most overlooked cats in shelters, but they are just as deserving of love and homes as any other cat. FIV, or Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, affects a cat’s immune system, but many FIV+ cats live long, happy, and healthy lives with proper care and regular veterinary checkups. His adoption fee is $80, and includes his vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, registered microchip, FIV/FeLV test, current on flea preventive, and neuter. He is already fixed.
