Story
Mama aka Sabine aka Sabi has been bringing her babies to me for about a year and a half and after catching and adopting out her last litter in November, I was finally able to get her spayed. She lives mostly outdoors though she is good about coming in when the weather is bad or when she just feels like being social. After working with her slowly, she finally let me begin to pet her and now she loves to have her butt scratched. She has even started rolling on her back for belly rubs! She still has some ways to go but I feel she is ready for her forever home! She seems totally unbothered by our two large dogs and our cats. She has had some interaction with kids and overall, seems to do well, especially after an adjustment period. She deserves a home where she will be cared for and loved and I wish we could give that to her. There is an adoption fee to ensure she goes to a good home, but she will also leave with her food, favorite treats and her favorite blanket! Located in DeSoto, TX.

I have Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) but please don`t let that stop you from giving me a loving home!! The adoption of all FIV positive and FeLV positive animals is made complete with a new cat welcome gift, provided by The 5 O`Clock Fund. The shelter staff has added some information below about FIV.Cats that test positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) can live long and healthy lives, sometimes with no symptoms at all. They do require some special care. FIV can be transmitted to other cats, usually through a bite. Therefore, FIV positive cats need to be kept indoors to avoid infecting other neighborhood cats. They can live happily with other cats that are not positve for FIV as long as they get along. In order for a FIV cat to live a long and healthy life, it is important to keep the cat`s immune system strong, with a healthy diet and a stress-free environment. Regular vet checkups are recommended.FIV positive cats can have a difficult time finding homes, even though in all respects they are normal, loving cats. Please don`t allow the FIV stigma to prevent you from opening your heart and home to a wonderful kitty companion.

I have Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) but please don`t let that stop you from giving me a loving home!! The adoption of all FIV+ and FeLV+ is made complete with a new cat welcome gift, provided by the 5 O`Clock Fund.Cats that test positive for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) are more likely to develop a secondary illness. They do require some special care. FeLV can be transmitted to other cats, through direct contact such as through mutual grooming and by sharing litter boxes and bowls. Therefore, FeLV positive cats need to be kept indoors and should only be housed with other cats who are also FeLV positive or no other cats. FeLV cannot be transmitted to humans or other types of animals such as dogs.Since there is no treatment for FeLV, it is important to keep the cat`s immune system strong, with a healthy diet, a stress-free environment and regular vet checkups. FeLV positive cats can have a difficult time finding homes, even though in all respects they are normal, loving cats. Please don`t allow the FeLV stigma to prevent you from opening your heart and home to a wonderful kitty companion.
