Story
Minnie is an irresistible 6-month-old sweetheart, weighing just 6 pounds—and yes, those adorable ears are even cuter in person! She’s full of puppy energy and loves to play, but when it’s time to rest, she’s happiest curled up right on your lap. Minnie is a true companion dog who thrives on being close to someone who cares. She sleeps through the night in her crate, gets along great with other dogs, and has been friendly with all her human visitors. Like any young pup, Minnie is still learning the basics and will need a loving, patient home to help her grow into her best self. If you're ready for the fun (and occasional chaos!) of raising a puppy and think Minnie could be your perfect match, please fill out our application at 1luckydogrescue.org or email Nancy at nancymoore016@gmail.com. If emailing, please tell us a little about the home you’d provide for this special girl!

Story
Mika is a gentle, friendly girl with a sweet soul. At around 6 years old and weighing just 10 pounds, she may be small in size, but she has a big heart and gets along well with dogs of all sizes. Mika is a quiet companion who rarely barks and sleeps peacefully through the night on her dog bed. While she’s not a big cuddler, Mika happily offers her belly for rubs and enjoys being near her people. She's still working on her house training and currently needs a little help getting outside to do her business. Mika enjoys short walks—about a quarter mile is her comfort zone—and doesn't need much more to feel content. She’s shown little interest in the feral cats she encounters on her walks, so she would likely do well in a home with a cat. If you're looking for a calm, loving, and low-maintenance companion, Mika could be the perfect match. If you are interested in adopting Mika, please complete our application at 1luckydogrescue.org or email Nancy at nancymoore016@gmail.com and tell us a little about the home you would offer Mika.

Story
Finneas is an affectionate, dog. He likes to alert you when someone comes to the front door. Finneas is a good walking companion. His previous owner gave him to me after she was called back to work in the office during the pandemic with only a 3 day notice! She posted a video of him onthe Next Door App. She interviewed 8 other potential owners at there homes before selecting me. He was easy to potty train at my home with his favorite treat, Pup-peroni and his absolute favorite, tuna! Finneas is 7 years and 6 months old and loves to get peanutbutter or food out of different types of food bowls or food holding toys. I hope his new owner or a family member is at home most of the time while they are getting to know him. I am mainly interested in a loving companion/family and a safe home for him. He enjoys jumping and relaxing in the sun in the backyard. My adjectives for Finneas includes loyal, affectionate, cuddly, intelligent, caring, loving and spirited!

Story
Chihuahua Age: 2 yrs old Female, spayed 5.5 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Sissy was dropped off at the shelter “as a stray” by someone (sometimes it is people dumping their own dog but saying “they found it”). She was very scared at the shelter (at 5 lbs, it is understandable that she would be freaked out). She was difficult to handle at times by the staff, but she also failed her high value resource guarding test. The test mainly consists of giving the dog food or other high value items, then tease the dog with a rubber hand to see if the dog will bite the fake hand. Very few shelters still do this test, because it often doesn’t accurately test the dog’s demeanor in the real world, but this particular shelter (and some large well-known rescue organizations) still use it. She is a typical clingy small Chihuahua. For the most part, she is okay with the other small dogs in the home. However, if another dog is not treating her nicely, she will “return the favor” then it is game-on. She is not good with larger dogs. We have no idea about how she is with cats, but it is likely that she would be okay. It has been noticed that over-stimulated play with humans can result in some mouthiness / nipping - best to avoid that activity or involve a toy. If she is with another dog, they should be fed separately and avoid giving her treats if another dog is present. She came to the shelter with a broken tooth, that was pulled when she was spayed. She had a skin issues that was believed to be flea allergy dermatitis - treatable with flea control. In her first foster home, she got into an altercation with a larger dog that ended up in a dislocated knee. Even though we initially considered amputation, Sissy uses the leg and shows no signs of pain, so we kept it. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. For more information about Sissy, contact nobodysperfektdogs@gmail.com

Story
Long-Haired Chihuahua Mix Age: 3-5 years Male, neutered 11 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) PLEASE NOTE: We do not adopt any of our dogs out to families with children under the age of 13. Here is what Bodhi’s foster family has to say about him: “Meet our foster dog, Bodhi. He's a Heinz 57 of dogs, a little bit of everything. Bodhi is a character, and can be a little quirky. It took him a week before he wanted to have anything to do with us. After that week, he came out of his shell. He is a loving dog, that would be great in a home with 1-2 adults, no children. He would do great being the only dog. He can be a lap guarder, and he does not like to share said lap with other dogs. Bodhi is great on leash walks, and he is getting used to hanging out in the yard while I garden. When we started bringing him outside, he would do his business and then go back inside. Now, he is learning to hang out outside and relax. When Bodhi gets excited, he becomes a bit of mouthy player. (He does not bite down.) Just to add some observations from Bodhi’s previous foster home - he is pretty much a “one person” or “one family” dog. He is not too keen on interacting with strangers (visitors to your home or out in public). Potential adopters should be prepared to give Bodhi time to adjust to a new environment and new owners. He will likely take at least a couple weeks to trust and feel comfortable. It won't happen overnight. For more information about Bodhi, contact nobodysperfektdogs@gmail.com
