Story
***Potential adopters must fill out the questionnaire at the end of the bio and forward to graciabutter@gmail.com. Pumpkin is a sassy but sweet two-year-old chihuahua mix. It took her a couple of weeks to settle into her foster home but once she did, her personality won over her foster mom’s heart. She gets along well with other dogs and loves to run around with her favorite toy. She is small but mighty and knows how to be assertive with the big dog in her foster home if she needs to. We feel she would do best in a home with another dog similar in size and a home without young children. Pumpkin has mastered the doggy door and is doing well with her potty training. Animal Rescue Recon makes sure that each dog is current on its vaccinations, has been or will be spayed or neutered, and is microchipped to help keep pets out of the shelters and get them back home where they belong. ****Answers to the questionnaire must be emailed to GraciaButter@gmail.com. Please tell us a bit about yourself/family • What city do you live in? • Do you rent or own? • Any children in the home? What ages? List all family members living in the home • What is your work schedule? Family schedule? • How many hours per day would the pet be left alone? • Where is the pet kept when left alone? • Where does the pet sleep? • Any other pets in the home? If so, what type/breed? • How often will the dog be exercised? • If the dog becomes ill or injured are you financially prepared to provide medical care? • Are you prepared to care for this dog for its life span of 10-15 years? • Do you have a training plan? Please explain. • Do you have a plan in place if something happens and you are no longer able to care for the dog? • Before adoption, an up-close video of your fenced yard will be required - the entire perimeter including gates and the bottom of the fencing. The yard must be free of foxtails and fully secured. • Home check may be performed • If "meet & greet" is scheduled, all household members, dogs included, must be present. Our adoption fee is $350 The fee covers the cost of having the dog fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and microchipped.

Story
Molly is a rescue dog we found on the street, starving and very skinny. She had no micro chip and we tried finding her owners with no luck. We had Molly for two years. She is fix and microchipped now. She is a very loving dog. She loved her owners but she doesn’t do so good with our other dogs. Molly needs a home with no other dogs or an owners experienced with dogs who have trauma. She also great with cats. She is potty trained. We have a dog door she uses freely. She is crate trained! At night, she sleeps in a crate.

Story
Attention-loving Waggo Waffles seeks furever home! Waffles is 4 Year old 8 lb Chihuahua mix. Waffles is a charming, playful chihuahua with a heart of gold. This blondie loves to snuggle and play, but can be a bit of a handful at first. He gets very excited to greet his favorite people and might give a little nip or wiggle out of pure enthusiasm. Don't worry, the excitement settles down quickly, and then it's all happy snuggles! Waffles would do best in a home with someone who can shower him with attention. He doesn't like being alone and might cry initially when left in his pen, but rest assured, he calms down and sleeps soundly through the night. He's not a picky eater; he just wants to finish his dinner and get back to snuggling! Waffles is playful and enjoys his squeaky toys. He's also learning basic commands and house training. While he gets along with other dogs, he craves to be the center of attention. Due to his initial exuberance, Waffles might not be the best fit for small children or those with balance issues. Are you looking for a loving and loyal companion? Waffles could be your perfect match! He promises to bring lots of joy and snuggles into your life. Story
Meet Moonpie Cookie, our sweet 5-year-old Chihuahua mix looking for her forever home! Moonpie came to us from the San Jose Animal Shelter, and though it took her a few days to trust, she's now a bundle of love waiting to be your shadow.     She may be a bit shy at first, especially when approached from above, but give her some time, and you'll have a loyal companion who adores neck scratches. Once trust is built, all her touches are filled with love.   Moonpie loves playtime, especially with other dogs! It took a few supervised introductions, but now she enjoys a good game of chase on her terms. She's become more active and healthy with two daily walks and controlled kibble portions, shedding some of that extra weight.   This adorable girl is housebroken, great on a leash, and gets super excited at the sight of it! Moonpie is an explorer in the backyard, taking the first five minutes to find the perfect spot to relieve herself.   When it's chill time, she sleeps well in a kennel, or if you prefer, Moonpie is more than happy to cuddle up next to you for a nap or a good night's sleep.     Most of her day is spent burrowed in her blanket or sitting right next to you, just wanting to feel warm and secure. Moonpie is the epitome of a lap dog – an absolute doll that you'll fall in love with instantly.     UPDATE 4/14/24   The ideal home for Moonpie would be a calm, quiet, adult home, with no more than one other small dog.   Because she is timid, we don’t recommend Moonpie for first time dog owners. Moonpie requires an experienced dog owner who understands dog behavior and that it will take time - several weeks - for her to get acclimated and trust you, but she is so worth it.   She is extremely skittish and fearful of new people. Sudden moves will cause her to react and possibly snap at people. While her actions may indicate she wants attention, she can’t handle it initially and requires the space and time to relax in a new environment.   She had blossomed in her foster home and is the epitome of a lap dog and is handled with ease. Her trust has been earned over a 90-day period and this is what her new family should expect. She is housebroken. She does fine on a leash but prefers exploring the backyard to relieve herself. She sleeps well in a kennel and is fine being in the kennel for chill time during the day. She does fine with being left alone in her kennel.    If you are so inclined, she will be happy to cuddle up next to you for a nap. This little girl has so much love to give, she just needs a patient owner who will work with her to become the dog she is meant to be.     If you're ready to open your heart and home to Moonpie Cookie, send us an email to beourpet@gmail.com   GENERAL INFO:   Housebroken?: Yes, we think so Crate Trained?: Yes Leash Trained?: Yes Rides Well in Car?: Yes Non-Shedding?: No Good with cats?: Not tested Good with dogs?: Yes Qualifies for Seniors for Seniors?: yes Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of 5 Umbrella of Hope is an all-volunteer, donation-run, non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals from local shelters, places them in private foster homes, provides them with needed medical care and then finds them new homes.  Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee.
