NAME:Lady BugSTATS:Female, chi mix, 8 years, 11 lbs.TEMPERAMENT:Shy at first and warms up.Playful, but not overly so.SKILLSPotty trained.Crate trained.Leash trained.Good with dogs.Good with cats.Likes walks, but not great for hiking.MORE ABOUT ME:Likes belly rubs.Couch cuddler.Likes walks.Submissive.ONE LAST THING:Lady Bug is a sweet, happy, little 11 lb girl who would love to be your couch buddy. She loves a walk around the block and will help aerate lawns by enthusiastically back-kicking after potties. Lady Bug is food motivated and smart. While she's a calm, mature gal (est. 7 years old) she happily dances at meal time and wakes up with smiles and gallops to greet each day. She's learned to go in her crate on command and responds well to gentle 'ah ah's. Lady Bug is timid around strangers - she barks and growls -but just needs a few minutes to get to know them and then is all wags. Cold morning temperatures make her shiver, so she would enjoy living somewhere hot where she could sun bathe. Not a super barky little girl; however, she feels it is her duty to let the mailman know he offends her by being in her eyesight. Lady Bug has learned to get along with the big labrador she currently lives with. At the dog park, she interacted with little dogs well and appeared to want to play. She has seen cats, but does not have much interest in them. Lady Bug has not been tested with kids but, because she is so small, gentle children over 10 would be bestLady Bug came to us as a stray and it's evident from her behavior of needing to be close to her person, she would benefit from confidence building. If you're ready for a small, loyal companion to fill your heart with love, this little pup might just be the one for you!September 12, 2025, 1:32 am

Story
Hospice  Meet Nessa Rose  At just 10 pounds, little Nessa Rose has carried a lifetime of fear on her tiny shoulders. This 10-year-old blond Chihuahua mix came to us deeply traumatized — the kind of fear that makes the world feel unsafe, even when gentle hands and kind voices are all around. Her crate is her refuge, her one small corner of safety. Nessa is a hospice adoption, meaning she has some medical challenges and masses that can’t be fixed — but what can be healed is her heart. What she needs most is a quiet, patient home where she can learn, in her own time, that love doesn’t hurt and that she is finally safe. Being that person for a dog like Nessa is a special kind of magic — the kind that doesn’t come from walks or tricks or toys, but from watching a frightened soul start to trust. To see her take a deep breath and choose to come closer, to sleep soundly for the first time, to lift her little face toward yours — that’s the reward. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 As a hospice adoption through Umbrella of Hope, we will cover Nessa’s approved ongoing medical care at Well Pet Veterinary Clinic and, when the time comes, her peaceful euthanasia. All she needs is someone to love her through the time she has left. If you have room in your heart and home for a gentle spirit who simply needs a safe place to rest and rediscover love, Nessa Rose Wicked is available for adoption. &#239&#184&#143 Because every dog deserves to know peace, safety, and love — no matter how much time they have left.   GENERAL INFO:   Qualifies for Seniors for Seniors?: yes Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of 5 Umbrella of Hope is an all-volunteer, donation-run, non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals from local shelters, places them in private foster homes, provides them with needed medical care and then finds them new homes.  Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites and given any additional treatments (dental work, bloodwork etc) as recommended by our vet.  Adoptions to veterans of the US Armed Services are ALWAYS free to thank you for your service.   We thank Well Pet Vet Clinic for providing most of our veterinary services and give a special thanks to volunteer photographers Tanya, Barbara, Kristy, Christine, Teressa and Natalie.  We are on all social media at @umbrellaofhope and we invite you to follow us and share which helps more people see and adopt our pets.  To help our ALL VOLUNTEER team rescue more senior, special needs, medically needy and hospice animals (and a few 'typical' ones along the way, please consider making a tax-deductible (TAX ID 45-4103375) donation online at www.paypal.me/UOH or Venmo @umbrellaof-hoperescue or Zelle beourpet@gmail.com.   You can also buy tees, tanks. sweatshirts, hats and bandannas where all proceeds benefit our animals https://ruff-life-rescue-wear.myshopify.com/collections/umbrella-of-hope We also have an Etsy store where the merchandise is made by volunteers and supporters, changes regularly and 100% of the proceeds benefit our medical fund https://www.etsy.com/shop/Umbrellaofhope Amazon Wish List tinyurl.com/pineapplewish  November 11, 2025, 8:06 pm

Story
NAME:BaronSTATS:Male, Chi/Spaniel mix, 7 years, 14 lbs.TEMPERAMENT:Shy at first, once he warms up; he loves his people. Baron does need a seasoned owner to work with issues (see below).SKILLSPotty Trained (but may mark until comfortable in new surroundings so suggest a belly band).Crate Trained.NO cats.No Children.Needs to be with another dog.Very treat motivated.MORE ABOUT ME:Likes belly rubs.Couch cuddler.Likes walks.Needs patient owner willing to work on behavior (see details below).Treat and clicker motivated. Needs work to gain confidence.ONE LAST THING:Baron is a special case. He had a traumatic (likely hit by car) trauma where he had not only lost an eye but had other injuries to his face and jaw. Although he is slowly getting used to living in this new way, he's also scared of strangers at first handling him so we need a seasoned owner for this beautiful little soul. Once he's comfortable, he will want to be with you and love you a lot. He's playful and can play tug with you. In a quiet environment, he will get comfortable and sleep on the couch and cuddle with you endlessly.Baron has been recorded with a bite. We know that the bite was due to the peron going over his head to pet him on the side where he couldn't see. Baron had already warned the person multiple times that he was not comfortable with them petting him and he actually allowed them to pet him for a few seconds a few times, but was telling them he needed space and then he finally bit which was just asking for space and out of fear. So again, we're looking for a seasoned owner willing to give this guy a chance to see life can be good.He has improved significantly, but still has some separation anxiety and guarding barking. The behavior has improved by distracting him with treats and using the 'clicker' for positive reinforcement.Baron needs a home that is patient with him, and in return he'll shower you with love. He will do best in a quiet environment where there are no children or cats.November 28, 2025, 12:09 am

NAME:AinsleySTATS:Female, Chihuahua, 3 years, 13 lbs.TEMPERAMENT:Friendly.Shy at first and warms up.Active (puppy energy).Shows fear of menSKILLSPotty trained.Crate trained.Good with older, gentle children.Good with dogs.Has not been exposed to cats.MORE ABOUT ME:Likes belly rubs.Couch cuddler.Likes playing with other dogs.Submissive.Suggest training (basic manners).ONE LAST THING:Here she is, Ainsley! This beauty is ready for her forever home. She is crate and potty trained. Doing ok with leash training and learning to trust humans again. She takes a bit to warm up to new people and is initially more fearful with men, but warms up with patience and shows them all love she has to offer. Ainsley enjoys playing with other dogs and being the center of attention. She enjoys doing zoomies especially early in the morning and when you come home. Loves to cuddle with you at night and will lay her head on your chest and look deep into your soul with her beautiful loving eyes. We suspect Ainsley was victim to abuse and was on the euthanasia list and so we are looking for a great forever family for her. April 21, 2025, 2:03 pm

Story
Meet Vivian! Vivian came to us as a brand new mom with 2 day old puppies. She was very protective of her puppies ant took amazing care of them. They are all grown up now and its time for Vivian to find her happy ever after! Vivian is 2-3 yrs old and weighs 11 pounds. She can be a bit timid and fearful of new situations and people. She is afraid of being outside and we think she never has been out doors before coming to us. She uses pee pads in her foster home but will need encouragement to go outside. She loves to snuggle and is not much of a barker. She gets along with all the dogs in her foster home but can be protective of her food. She could still stand to gain some weight as she came to us very skinny and we have been working on getting her to a healthy weight. If you would like to meet Vivian please fill out an application at ozziespoundpuppies.org She is spayed, chipped, vaccinated and dewormed. Her fee is $300
