NAME:Lady BugSTATS:Female, chi mix, 7 years, 11 lbs.TEMPERAMENT:Shy at first and warms up.Playful, but not overly so.SKILLSPotty trained.Crate trained.Leash trained.Good with dogs.Good with cats.Likes walks, but not great for hiking.MORE ABOUT ME:Likes belly rubs.Couch cuddler.Likes walks.Submissive.ONE LAST THING:Lady Bug is a sweet, happy, little 11 lb girl who would love to be your couch buddy. She loves a walk around the block and will help aerate lawns by enthusiastically back-kicking after potties. Lady Bug is food motivated and smart. While she's a calm, mature gal (est. 7 years old) she happily dances at meal time and wakes up with smiles and gallops to greet each day. She's learned to go in her crate on command and responds well to gentle 'ah ah's. Lady Bug is timid around strangers - she barks and growls -but just needs a few minutes to get to know them and then is all wags. Cold morning temperatures make her shiver, so she would enjoy living somewhere hot where she could sun bathe. Not a super barky little girl; however, she feels it is her duty to let the mailman know he offends her by being in her eyesight. Lady Bug has learned to get along with the big labrador she currently lives with. At the dog park, she interacted with little dogs well and appeared to want to play. She has seen cats, but does not have much interest in them. Lady Bug has not been tested with kids but, because she is so small, gentle children over 10 would be bestLady Bug came to us as a stray and it's evident from her behavior of needing to be close to her person, she would benefit from confidence building. If you're ready for a small, loyal companion to fill your heart with love, this little pup might just be the one for you!May 25, 2025, 2:41 pm

Meet Nadia Beetlejuice! Nadia is a 10 yr old, 8 lb unaltered Chihuahua Mix that came to us from Visalia ASD. She has been fully vaccinated, microchipped and is parasite free. After further examination by our vet and reviewing her lab work she determined Nadia has diabetes as well as multiple mammary masses and horrible teeth. Our first step is to get her diabetes under control. Nadia has been responding as well as expected with insulin injections twice a day. It's not ideal but it's vital to her well being. We have seen quite an improvement in her glucose levels in the month she has been on insulin. WIN WIN!! Our vet will continue to monitor her until she's stable enough to take the next step to getting her back to health. She is available for foster to adopt with the inclination that she remain on insulin for the rest of her life.  This is what her foster family has said about her. Nadia the sweetest senior gal you could ever meet. She knows how to use the doggy door but sometimes she still has accidents. She's getting better at it but she doesn't know how to tell us she needs to go out. She thinks Just Food For Dogs is the BESTEST food on the planet. If you know who the producer is, she is all for shooting a commercial. All she wants is paid in dog food and treats.  Nadia loves her person and would rather chill out watching soap operas than anything else. She loves going on short walks but doesn't want it to become a habit, lol. A home with seniors is preferred or adult children that know how to be around older dogs. She likes other dogs and tries to sneak their toys away from them.  If you would like to bring Nadia into your home and give her extra love and attention you can fill out the application using the link provided. www.beourpet.org/adoptions.php.   We are on all social media at @umbrellaofhope and we invite you to follow us and share which helps more people see and adopt our pets.  To help our ALL VOLUNTEER team rescue more senior, special needs, medically needy and hospice animals (and a few 'typical' ones along the way, please consider making a tax-deductible (TAX ID 45-4103375) donation online at www.paypal.me/UOH or Venmo @umbrellaof-hoperescue or Zelle beourpet@gmail.com.   You can also buy tees, tanks. sweatshirts, hats and bandannas where all proceeds benefit our animals https://ruff-life-rescue-wear.myshopify.com/collections/umbrella-of-hope We also have an Etsy store where the merchandise is made by volunteers and supporters, changes regularly and 100% of the proceeds benefit our medical fund https://www.etsy.com/shop/Umbrellaofhope Amazon Wish List tinyurl.com/pineapplewish  February 7, 2025, 12:09 am

Story
BUTTERNUT SQUASH is a sweet 8 year old, 9 lb, Chihuahua Mix who comes to us from Visalia ASD. She is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped and has been treated for parasites. Butternut doesn't really care for other dogs and she hasn't been tested with cats. She'd prefer to be the only pet in the home. She would be a perfect companion for an older person who isn't too active and prefers to stay home most the time. We recommend she be around older children who know and understand shy dogs.  This is what her foster family said about her.   Meet Butternut, a sweet and gentle soul who just needs a little time to warm up! This shy girl is looking for a patient, understanding home where she can blossom at her own pace. While she may initially seem reserved, Butternut is incredibly loyal and loving once she feels secure. She thrives in a quiet environment with plenty of space to relax and would do best with a calm, experienced dog owner who can provide her with the gentle guidance she needs to build confidence. Butternut loves leisurely walks and quiet cuddle sessions once she feels comfortable. She is housebroken and loves lounging on her bed. If you are looking to give a deserving dog a loving forever home, Butternut could be the perfect match for you! As you can see from her foster family, she's sweet and deserving of her forever family. Could that be you? If you'd like to adopt Butternut you can submit an application using the link provided at the end of this introduction.  www.beourpet@gmail.com/adoptions.php  We are on all social media at @umbrellaofhope and we invite you to follow us and share which helps more people see and adopt our pets. You can also buy tees, tanks. sweatshirts, hats and bandannas where all proceeds benefit our animals https://ruff-life-rescue-wear.myshopify.com/collections/umbrella-of-hope We also have an Etsy store where the merchandise is made by volunteers and supporters, changes regularly and 100% of the proceeds benefit our medical fund https://www.etsy.com/shop/Umbrellaofhope Amazon Wish List tinyurl.com/pineapplewish  February 6, 2025, 9:57 pm

Meet Howie White GANGSTER!! Howie is an 18 lb,, 5 year old, NEUTERED MALE Chihuahua Mix that came to us from Visalia Animal Services. He's fully vaccinated, microchipped and parasite free.  Howie was shut down at the shelter and scheduled to be euthanized. We couldn't let that happen and we said YES we would take him. We do not know what he endured before he came to us but to him it must have been traumatic. His foster home has been working with him to overcome his fears. He's gone from hiding under the table to searching out love and praise. He's still cautious but he's made great progress. This is what he foster family said about him. Howie is a happy boy and becoming more confident each day. He's quiet and prefers to be in a comfy bed or with his human. Toys? He's never seen one before. His favorite time is mealtime followed by treats. He's potty trained with no accidents in the home. In a new environment, we ask that you give him a learning curve until he understands where you want him to do his business.  Depending on the environment, he is making progress with leash training. He was clueless wearing a collar or harness the first few weeks. He loves the outdoors basking in the warm sun. He's good around cats and mostly stays to himself. He hasn't been tested with children but we suspect he would be good with older children who know how to be respectful of shy dogs.  All in all, he will make a great companion to someone who will seriously devote their time to addressing his fears and making him feel safe and loved. If you are that person willing to give Howie a wonderful home please email us at beourpet@gmail.com. Story
Meet Wesley Crusher! Age: 13 yearsWeight: 13 lbsBreed: Chihuahua Mix I'm a sweet, senior guy looking for a cozy home where I can relax and enjoy my golden years. I may be missing a few teeth (okay, maybe a lot), but that doesn't stop me from enjoying dry food and treats! I know how to sit for my snacks, and I'm working on perfecting my bathroom habits and manners. New things can make me a little anxious, so I need slow and calm introductions, but once I'm comfortable, I'm all yours! I love snuggling up in bed and may even get closer as I get to know you better. While I’m quiet most of the time, I’ve just started barking when a new person arrives—just a little shout out to say “hello!” I get along well with other dogs and did great with two fur-friends my first week in rescue. I like to make my mark in the yard, but I don’t stay outside for long. And even though I may slip out of a collar, I’m best in a harness for walks or adventures. I haven’t met cats or children yet, but I’m open to testing it out! If you think I’d be a good fit for your home, fill out an application at:www.beourpet.org/adoptions.php Let’s make this old soul’s final chapter the best one yet. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143We are on all social media at @umbrellaofhope and we invite you to follow us and share which helps more people see and adopt our pets. You can also buy tees, tanks. sweatshirts, hats and bandannas where all proceeds benefit our animals https://ruff-life-rescue-wear.myshopify.com/collections/umbrella-of-hope We also have an Etsy store where the merchandise is made by volunteers and supporters, changes regularly and 100% of the proceeds benefit our medical fund https://www.etsy.com/shop/Umbrellaofhope Amazon Wish List tinyurl.com/pineapplewish  June 7, 2025, 6:31 pm

Viper is 8 lbs and 7 years old. He is located in the East SF Bay Area. Viper is a happy little guy with a big, silly personality! He has not met a person or dog he doesn’t like. He’s even good with the cat!   He is excellent on walks and car rides. He is always hungry and will smile and dance for treats. He also knows how to “sit” when prompted. He recently went to the groomer who said he was very well behaved, and this was definitely not his first time at the groomers!   He will need some patience with house training, because he is a “marker” but he is not opposed to wearing belly bands, which have been so helpful! He was recently neutered so we’re hoping it helps with curbing that behavior. He was no problem wearing belly bands and doesn’t try to take them off.   He can be anxious in new environments and will need a little time to decompress in a new home. Fortunately his anxiety just comes out as him being squirmy and wanting to be close to his person and get lots of love. He has calmed down quite a bit in his foster home (he’s only been there two weeks) and he seems very content. He will do the same in his new home.   He has a collapsed trachea (common in small breeds) which can make him cough, and pant at times. This also means it’s important for his family to use a harness rather than a collar for walks and outings.   Viper would fit in with an active family or a single person who wants a lap dog. He’d be happy to have a friendly dog or cat sibling, or be a single pup. As long as he can be the center of someone’s attention and love, he will be thrilled to be yours.   GENERAL INFO:   Housebroken?: Working on it Crate Trained?: Yes Leash Trained?: Yes Rides Well in Car?: Yes Non-Shedding?: No Good with cats?: Yes Good with dogs?: Yes Qualifies for Seniors for Seniors?: yes Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of 5 Umbrella of Hope is an all-volunteer, donation-run, non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals from local shelters, places them in private foster homes, provides them with needed medical care and then finds them new homes.  Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. Story
Meet the ooooober handsome Geordi La Forge!   This special guy is around 11 lbs and we are guessing approximately 14 years old. This is what his foster mom says about him -   'Geordi Geordi Geordi... what can I say about this beautiful little bundle of joy!? It took some time for this little Angel to come out of his shell, s He is a black and white, neutered male Pomeranian. The shelter said he is about 4 years old, the vet stated more like 14...but he has all of his teeth, and they don't look bad either! So I'm guessing he is much younger than that, but I'm not an expert, so who really knows!? He came from a hoarding situation, but we dont know much about his upbringing. His poor little rear end had so much hair loss, but its slowly growing back. His face is a little crooked and we don't know if it was an old injury, or birth defect. He yawns smaller than normal because his mouth is a little crooked, but I think it makes him that much more beautiful .   I Love this little dog! He is sweet, gentle, loving, and potty trained to potty pads. He even uses a doggy door to go outside! He gives his foster mama kisses, although it took about 3 weeks for him to really come out of his shell, but he is out now and fully loving life! He greets me at the door and wags his little tail when I come home, even bounces and spins sometimes too! He is really is a happy little guy. He is very quiet, and does sleep quite a bit, but if you aren't hanging out with him on the couch, he WILL come find you even if you are in dispose ()! He does really well on small flights of stairs, its about 5 to get outside my home. He has a pretty good appetite and loves his Freeze Dried Raw Stella and Chewys Pet food, but kinda snubs the Nulo kibble .   He gets along well with other dogs big and small...he doesnt play much, but is the best couch potato Netflix snuggler you can find! Hands down, he will LOVE those weekend binge fests! Oh and the belly rubs , he absolutely LOVES his belly rubs! I'll get him up from a nap and say let's go potty Geordi! And he will just roll over and give me his belly. He makes my heart melt .   He would probably do best in a home with older more chill kids as he does have a bit of a sight and hearing impairment and can get nippy if he is approached too fast or aggressively. He also doesn't like going to the vet because it scares him, so he can be nippy there too. But once he knows you, and knows you won't hurt him, he will be your best friend furrever! '   Are you that special someone he has been looking for!?   If you are interested in any further information on this beautiful little bundle of joy, please email at: beourpet@gmail.com   Geordi is ready and waiting to meet you! You can also buy tees, tanks. sweatshirts, hats and bandannas where all proceeds benefit our animals https://ruff-life-rescue-wear.myshopify.com/collections/umbrella-of-hope We also have an Etsy store where the merchandise is made by volunteers and supporters, changes regularly and 100% of the proceeds benefit our medical fund https://www.etsy.com/shop/Umbrellaofhope Amazon Wish List tinyurl.com/pineapplewish  June 7, 2025, 6:31 pm
