Story
Meet Woofgang Puck, or just Puck for short! This lovable 8-year-old Chihuahua mix is a little bundle of joy, possibly with a sprinkle of Beagle in his genes. At first, Puck may come off as shy, but give him a moment, and his playful side will shine like a star! Puck adores his toys and loves to get into some light-hearted trouble—just picture him as the life of the party! He enjoys his naps, but don’t let him miss out on the fun; after all, who wants to snooze through an adventure? He loves being outside, but keep an eye on him—if the yard isn’t secure, he might go on his own mini explorations. And be careful! If a door is left open, he’s ready to dash out! When it comes to other dogs, Puck needs a little help. He has a tendency to “assist” them with their meals, which can be quite annoying. His friendly greetings can be a bit much—he barks, jumps, and wags his tail enthusiastically, which may confuse his canine pals. With some training, he can learn to tone it down. He’s also learning how to handle his protective instincts, but if you have other pets, be prepared to guide him through it. Puck is quite the jumper when he’s excited and might unexpectedly leap onto you, giving playful nips at your legs! He listens when corrected but often forgets the rules once the fun starts again. While he’s crate trained, Puck feels much more comfortable snoozing on a cozy bed rather than being confined to a crate. Sleeping in your bed isn’t something he’s into just yet. The good news is, he’s house trained and will let you know when it’s time to go out. Puck does have a heart murmur and takes medication twice a day for it. He can get a bit anxious, especially when being picked up or during car rides, and sitting on laps isn’t really his scene. This sweet boy is looking for a forever home filled with love, patience, and understanding. With your support, Puck will be ready for short hikes and exciting adventures with his favorite human! Puck has been neutered, is current on vaccines, has tested negative for heartworm and is microchipped. He also had a recent dental and lost a few teeth. If you are interested in adopting Puck, please complete an adoption application on our website. Just go to uaaf.org/adopt. Story
Meet Stretch! Stretch is a 1½-year-old mixed-breed boy weighing about 13 pounds, with the cutest long legs and an adorable personality to match. Stretch can be a little unsure of new people and new places, so he’s looking for a patient, understanding family who will give him the time he needs to feel safe. Once he learns that humans are kind, his sweet and silly side really comes out. One of Stretch’s favorite things is getting kisses on the sides of his face—but he insists on one on each side so it’s fair! When he gets excited or happy, he celebrates with the cutest little spins that will absolutely make you smile. Stretch loves to play fetch, though sometimes the game turns into a playful round of keep-away with his squeaky toys. His goofy antics are guaranteed to bring laughter to your home. He is crate trained and does well with a dog door. Stretch also gets along great with other dogs and cats. A confident dog friend in his new home may help him feel more comfortable as he settles in. With a little patience and a lot of love, Stretch will blossom into a loyal companion who will reward his people with endless affection and those adorable happy spins. Stretch has been neutered, is current on vaccines, has tested negative for heartworm and is microchipped. If you are interested in adopting Stretch, please complete an adoption application on our website (uaaf.org/adopt). Story
Meet Nuggie, a senior dog with a heart of gold and a personality as rich and layered as his name suggests. While he has a sweet and loyal side, he also knows exactly what he likes—and what he doesn’t. He’s independent, spirited, and full of character, just like you'd expect from a classic Chihuahua. Nuggie is friendly on his own terms, often forming strong bonds with his favorite people. He’s sharp as a tack and still enjoys exploring his surroundings with youthful curiosity. Once you’re in his circle, you’ll find a fiercely loyal companion who brings joy, laughter, and a whole lot of heart into your life. He’ll thrive in a home that appreciates his quirks, respects his space, and is willing to advocate for him with others. Whether that means letting guests know he needs a little time to warm up or ensuring he has a quiet spot to retreat to, Nuggie does best with someone who understands and honors his boundaries. Adopting Nuggie means embracing a dog with opinions, charm, and endless personality—and gaining a devoted, one-of-a-kind friend for life.
