Story
About Me: Name: Domino Breed (or best guess): Chihuahua mix Approximate Age: 6 yr Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 12 lb Adoption Fee: Reduced Fee $300 Requirements: Patient Adopter Why In Rescue: Owner passed away Profile: Domino has been with Bichon and Little Buddies for over 9 months as we worked with him to have him become comfortable with humans other than his owner.  When he was surrendered, we were told he is paranoid - and that does fit him.  He gets worried when he has a tag on his collar or when he is wearing a sweater.  He has stranger danger, so isn't going to want to be in a household where people are coming and going a lot or where he is expected to go visiting.  While he has some issues, he is a funny and loving guy to the people he has bonded with.  He will sit excitedly, waiting for one of his chosen ones to kneel down and open his kennel door so he can leap out and give a hug.  It is now time for him to venture out and find a family of his own.  While he lived with other dogs in his previous home, at the shelter there are a number of dogs he doesn't get along with - primarily males, so he may do best as an only dog or a female dog with a slow introduction.  Domino went for a short home visit with a volunteer to see how he would be in a home.  He had issues with other dogs in the house when the foster mom had food.  We are hoping for an only dog home for him to lessen the chance for issues if he decided to try to guard his person or his food.  He did warm up to visitors with some time, but will likely always need a slow introduction.   If you are looking to adopt a dog that really needs you, Domino may be that guy.  He is an athletic little guy who will climb up to the top of his kennel so he can look out and see what is going on.  If you can offer Domino a patient and loving home, please fill out the pre-adoption application and we can discuss more things about him. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS April 27, 2024, 2:56 pm

About Me: Name: Preston Breed (or best guess): Chihuahua Approximate Age: 1 year Gender: Male Approximate Weight: around 5 lb Adoption Fee: $450 Requirements: Loving and patient adopter Why In Rescue: lost/stray dog Profile:  Preston came from a local animal control after he was turned in as a found/stray dog.  He is a nice little guy that would love to be part of a family again.  He is a bit demanding about getting attention, he is quite noisy when he is in a kennel and would rather be in someone's arms.  He is also an escape artist that will wiggle his way under a fence so he needs to be in a very secure fenced area, or on a leash.  If interested in adopting go to www.bichonrescues.com and fill out the pre-adoption application. We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. Story
Meet sweet little Harbor, momma of the litter sponsored by Boone and Crockett. She's a lean, mean, kissing machine! Although it take a little for her to warm up, once she does she is very affectionate and snuggles into foster mom and gives kisses whenever she's picked up. She's a very good girl that's working hard on potty training and is quiet and well behaved in her crate when foster mom is gone and overnight. In true chihuahua fashion, she like to let foster mom know when there's something too close to her territory outside but has been mostly quiet when inside. Although Harbor is dog friendly and lives with other dogs, she hasn't shown much interest in playing yet and would do well as an only dog. Please check back for updates as my foster family gets to know me. You can also watch for stories, pictures and videos about me on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/40103261297/ Ask to meet me today!!Adoption fee: $500All dogs/puppies have been fully vetted including spay/neuter, micro-chipping, worming, heartworm testing and preventative treatment, flea/tick preventative, and all required age appropriate vaccinations. Story
Meet Reed! Hello everyone, my name is Reed! You might think I look a little funny with little to no hair, but would you guess that I don't have a single hairless breed in my DNA, despite being found near a house that had been breeding hairless dogs? Yep, that just means I'm special! As an adult dog that weighs just 27 pounds, I have some very easily treatable skin issues. I just need to have a special bath every 1-2 weeks in the summer when my skin gets a bit sticky and as needed in the winter. Voila! Foster mom says I'm a really good boy, that might be a bit misunderstood by the average person, so she says I need to look for just the right one to be my forever human. You see, I'm pretty fearful of things, loud noises, and fast movements being one of them, so I shouldn't live with kiddos. I'd actually prefer to live with just one person or a very quiet two people. Men can sometimes be scary for me, so I'd prefer humans of the female variety. I get along with quiet dogs who kind of just like lounging around. I'm a good boy and go potty outside. Actually, I enjoy being outside a lot! Good thing I don't mind wearing clothes, because I'll need to wear them in the summer to protect my skin, and in the cooler month to keep me warm! I'm not a super huge fan of crates, but my foster mom has one set up for me as a safe space if people come over or if I just need a little downtime. I enjoy going on walks and do well on a leash. I really really want to do what my humans want me to do, but I tend to be scared to do some things. I'm never trying to be naughty, I just don't know how to talk human to let you know! The only way I know how to say I'm scared of something is to give a grumble. That doesn't make me a bad guy, I'm just doing the only thing I can to communicate. I That's where the special person comes in to play. My human will have to be able to see when I'm uncomfortable and intervene if I get in over my head in certain situations. I take some medicine for my anxiety to help me not be quite so scared, and that has been really helpful! I'm not asking for a lot in life, just to be understood. Do you think you can be my special person? Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs.
