Story
About Me: Name: Domino Breed (or best guess): Chihuahua mix Approximate Age: 8 yr Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 12 lb Adoption Fee: Reduced Fee $300 Requirements: Patient Adopter Why In Rescue: Owner passed away Profile: Domino has been with Bichon and Little Buddies for over 2 years as we have worked with him to have him become comfortable with humans other than his owner.  When he was surrendered, we were told he is paranoid - and that does fit him.  He gets worried when he has a tag on his collar or when he is wearing a sweater.  He has stranger danger, so isn't going to want to be in a household where people are coming and going a lot or where he is expected to go visiting.  While he has some issues, he is a funny and loving guy to the people he has bonded with.  He will sit excitedly, waiting for one of his chosen ones to kneel down and open his kennel door so he can leap out and give a hug.  It is now time for him to venture out and find a family of his own.  While he lived with other dogs in his previous home, at the shelter there are a number of dogs he doesn't get along with - primarily males, so he may do best as an only dog or a female dog with a slow introduction.  Domino went for a short home visit with a volunteer to see how he would be in a home.  He had issues with other dogs in the house when the foster mom had food.  We are hoping for an only dog home for him to lessen the chance for issues if he decided to try to guard his person or his food.  He did warm up to visitors with some time, but will likely always need a slow introduction.   If you are looking to adopt a dog that really needs you, Domino may be that guy.  He is an athletic little guy who will climb up to the top of his kennel so he can look out and see what is going on.  If you can offer Domino a patient and loving home, please fill out the pre-adoption application and we can discuss more things about him. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS June 23, 2024, 6:34 pm

Story
About Me: Name:  Koda Breed (or best guess): Chihuahua Approximate Age: 4 yr Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 10 lb Adoption Fee:  $450 Requirements: Loving family Why In Rescue: Owner Surrender Profile:  Koda was surrendered with a number of other dogs when his owner lost their home.  Koda is a friendly guy and does well with the other dogs we have had him meet.  He has been neutered and had a dental with a number of extractions.  His owner said he was housetrained, but all dogs will need a bit of a refresher course in a new home.  We were told that Koda is not good with kids, so he is looking for an adult only home, and where he can be "put away" when children come to the house.  He is a loving guy to all the caretakers at the shelter, but he would much rather be in a home! We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. Story
Coca has only been with the rescue for a short time, so her foster family is still getting to know her. So far, she's been very sweet but a little unsure about things. Once she gets comfortable, she's very playful and impish. She likes snuggling, but prefers to snuggle by her person's head vs their lap, so it's good thing she's only 12 lbs. She does ok in her crate when foster mom leaves and overnight, but can be vocal the first few minutes and when she knows it's time to be let out. She's working super hard at potty training and responds well to praise and treats. Most of the time she's low energy with periods of higher energy, which is consistent with her age. If you're looking for a sweet, goofy little dog that will always have a puppy face, Coca might be your gal!You can also watch for stories, pictures and videos about Coca on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/40103261297/ Ask to meet her today!!Adoption fee: $500All dogs/puppies have been fully vetted including spay/neuter, micro-chipping, worming, heartworm testing and preventative treatment, flea/tick preventative, and all required age appropriate vaccinations. As required by Wisconsin Act 90, all dogs will have received a veterinarian exam (CVI) within the past 30 days. Our adoption process requires the submission of an application. Applications and Adoption Rules can be found on our website, on the "HOW TO ADOPT" tab at JRsPupsNStuff.org. Upon receipt of the completed application, we will process the application including: contact with your veterinarian and completion of a home visit. Please be sure to include the contact information for your vet as we will call. If your vet requires an information release, please be sure to contact them as soon as you submit your application. We are a group of volunteers with families and jobs, so please be patient and allow a few days for our response.JR's Pups-N-Stuff Dog Sellers License 522614

Story
Meet Toby! Hi all, I’m Toby! Foster mom says I’m a “cute little squeak.” I’m not sure what she means, since I hardly make a peep except when I’m being a guard dog (like us little chihuahuas have to be). I'm a senior guy, weighing just 8 pounds, but I could stand to lose one pound to be a healthy weight I was surrendered to a shelter when my owner could no longer keep me and boy was it scary! It's hard to be a little guy in a big world sometimes. But Albert’s took me in, and I’m getting comfy in my foster home day by day. I love getting pets. I was surrendered with my sister Molly, and we’ve always lived together, but we aren’t bonded. In my foster home, I live with lots of other dogs, and I get along with them, but sometimes I have to tell them who is boss (me, obviously). I also get along with respectful kiddos, but I won't seek their attention. I just kind of like hanging out. I love lounging in a soft dog bed or even in my crate (it's my quiet place). I don’t mind being crated at all, in fact, but I’m house trained and don’t destroy anything, so I don’t need to be crated. I do well on a leash and really enjoy going for walks, but my stride is much shorter than yours! I recently had a dental cleaning, and I had a lot of my teeth removed (I guess that is what you get when you don’t brush!). Foster mom says it’ll give me “fresh breath.” I’m also being treated for anaplasma and lymes disease (both caused by tick bites). I don’t have any symptoms, and I probably never will, but Albert’s just wants to make sure I get extra good care. I'm hoping that will be with you! *Toby is being fostered in Madison, WI. Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $300, ($550 for a pair). Learn more about Albert's Dog Lounge, our mission, and adoption policies by visiting Albertsdoglounge.org. Of Agriculture License Number: 474085-DS NOTE ABOUT AGING A DOG: Aging a dog, based on looking at them, is unreliable and usually inaccurate. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality and their needs. Story
Macy is a lively, sweet, smart girl. She weighs 9 pounds and is believed to be a chihuahua / terrier mix. She is current on Rabies as well as flea, tick and heartworm meds. She needs some dental work. Her human has moved to memory care so she needs a new home! Macy is very affectionate - loves to sit on laps and snuggle at night. She can never get enough pets! Macy is a quick learner. Since turning 8 she has learned to sit when she wants pets or a treat, "quiet", "go pee" and most importantly not to jump on people. She is also mostly house trained (sometimes uses a potty pad). She loves being outside and riding in the car. She is curious and willing to try new things. As recently as last fall, her family included 3 others dogs, a cat and her elderly human mom, so she is used to being around others. She would love to be adopted with her best friend Abby.

Max Needs Compassionate, Seizure Experienced Owner Max is a year old, we believe CHIH Min Pin Mix, although Paperwork says Doxie Pom mix, weighing between 10 and 15 pounds who came to Tiny Paws as Owner Surrender. Concerned Winter weather will be challenging but Foster puppy pad trained him. Could be perfect Apartment dog but must be able to carry him if steps involved.
