Story
Firn is an 11-month pup rescued from a high-kill shelter in CA and brought to Seattle recently. Sadly, just days after arriving, her new big sister was diagnosed with cancer. Because of this, Firn can’t get the dedicated time and training focus she deserves at this pivotal age.Firn is incredibly sweet and affectionate. She’ll hop into your lap for cuddles and belly rubs immediately! Loves fetch and will wear herself out chasing toys, then wants to settle in and snuggle. She can be timid around men initially but warms up quickly with treats. She loves other dogs. She has a puppy’s curiosity but learns fast. She is already doing great with her potty and kennel training! She sleeps through the night in her kennel. She is a fast learner who thrives on routine and clear communication.Ideal for an active home that understands smart, young dogs.Needs to continue her training foundation.Needs daily exercise and mental stimulation.

Story
Welcome Bambam to CCPAL Rescue. Bambam is a 10-week-old Dachshund mix. We think with Chihuahua. These puppies are small at about 5 pounds right now. We think they will be 15 or less full grown. They are good in a playgroup with their siblings. They are getting used to being kenneled and are fine in a car. Bambam is the most vocal of the 3, but Dachshunds are going to typically be vocal dogs. He wants to be loose in a play group with his sisters. Once a Dachshund bonds they bond to a single person and while they can love others in the family, it will be clear who is their person. They are in Texas at the CCPAL Rescue. Bambam can go with children. We like all children to be 8 or older. They were found as strays and pulled from one of the local high kill shelters. Bambam would be best in a home where the person doesn’t work all day every day. A puppy needs time to spend being with her humans and they need to be socialized with other people regularly so they become well rounded adult dogs. Dachshund dogs do best in a home with less steps or levels in the home. We would love someone that loves this breed. I love this breed so I know there are those that feel the same about this loyal and loving breed. They can be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $600 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Story
Welcome Mutz to CCPAL Rescue. Mutz is a 3-year-old Daug (Dachshund /Pug). He weighs about 12 pounds and is full grown and a nice weight. This dog came from the hoarder or overabundance of dog situation. He has an adorable underbit and has really blossomed at the Rescue. He is a quieter dog and has learned to like to be held. He is definitely a lap companion. He is playful with other dogs and has the sturdy body of the Pug. He would love to be a companion for a person that is retired, partially retired or maybe someone with a household that wants a dog with a lower energy to join in. He would be ok with a smaller condo size yard. He is learning leash manners and getting used to commotion of the Rescue. He hasn’t experienced a lot of different things so he isn’t sure yet but he is really really nice. He is not a big shedding dog. He is fine with nail trims and baths and will make some lucky family a great companion. I would say anyone moderately active would be fine for this dog. He bonds deeply and he warms up with affection nicely. He would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is getting vaccinations, neutered and he will be ready for his forever home soon. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is $200. Welcome Arty to CCPAL Rescue. Arty is a 2 year old Dashchund/Parsons Jack Russel is our best guess using AI technology. He weighs 25 pounds. This boy is very sweet. He is calm, good with other dogs, relatively quiet and not too vocal. This description doesn’t fit with the breeds mentioned but this is his behavior. He is good with other dogs and very laid back. He has a coarse coat, and it isn’t too much of a shedding dog. He is sturdy enough to be a good walking companion. He would be fine in a smaller yard like a condo yard and would be ok with a moderately active family. He is a gem and he loves humans, despite his previous experience with them. He is kenneled with another small dog that came from the same place and he does well. He will be neutered soon and looking for his forever home. Watching Chocolate come out of his shell is something really specialeach day a little braver, a little sillier, a little more in love with his person. This sweet boy has plenty of playful energy. He loves toys, zooming around with his dog friends, and being part of the action. He does well with friendly dogs, likes kids, and truly just wants to be wherever you are. A home where someone is around most of the time would be his dream. Chocolate doesnt need perfecthe just needs his person. Someone patient, kind, and willing to let him bloom at his own pace. elcome Draco to CCPAL foster program. Draco is a 3 year old 7 month old Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund). He weighs about 9 pounds. He is very social and loves cuddles. He loves the good Samaritan that found him on the streets in the Texas snow storm. Draco is great with other dogs and we think his best home would be with another playful dog or a person that is home and would love to play ball, walk and cuddle Draco. He doesn’t dig or tear up anything in the house and he does his business outside. He will use a potty pad if it is too long for him to hold. He is an opportunist when a gate or door is open and will take that opportunity. He will stay behind a baby gate if there is one and his foster is also going to introduce him to a crate. Right now he is allowed partial free roam while she is away at work. He is super social and loving so he would be fine around children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is neutered, microchipped and will have all vaccines topped up before he leaves the Rescue. He likes strangers but will bark if someone is at the door. He is lower on the shed scale but he does shed. His arms curl around your hands when you pick him up. He really likes being held. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Story
Hello, My name is Gigi (short for Guinevere). I am a super sweet little girl. I am a bit shy, a bit scared of new things and environments, but am a SUPER CLING ON that loves her humans! And I am on the hunt for my SUPER CLING ON aka snuggly human! I think I am a full bred short haired doxie, as my mommy was, but we do not know for sure who my father is/ what breed he was. I am about 12 lbs and about 6-7 years old, female, cuter that cute wiggly worm (see my zero great pics.. I wiggle A LOT). I have super short hair, and am cold all the time, so I want to snuggle all day everyday, and be held, and carried around wherever you go. Not that this is a requirement, but it basically is. I like to lick your feet and be under them. I am a MAJOR tripping hazard. Not that this is a requirement, but it basically is. My story is long… I can tell you if we get to our… 2nd visit?... or at least 2nd smooches… and, not sure about you, but I give LOTS of smooches. Basic story: My doggie mom died when I was 3 DAYS old from (advanced stage 3 heartworms)… and my 2 sisters (one passed within a week), and I were bottle babies- at an age not survivable by almost anyone. My other sister was my bosom bestie until a few months ago when she passed. I also lost my human mom. Anyways, I am not used to being alone. I can be taught, but there will be a learning curve. I like food, but the soft and yummy type. I need a dental, plus I never loved hard kibble. SO…. if I'm left in a safe spot, and a new routine is established, I will learn to be ok again. My foster mom has worked on it, and a sound machine has been her life saver apparently… she says mine too... But if that crazy lady would just commit to 24/7 snuggles we wouldn't have this issue! Foster mom is odd… she only gives 16/7 snuggles… she blames work…???... I call it RUDE. This ‘work’ of hers… they must be awful to not let her have 24/7 snuggles! Not my kind of people! I'm not good on those choke ropes… “leashes.” Foster mom keeps trying to momsplain/ ‘tell’ me they are necessary so I don't get too far away…. And so critters dont swoop after me and eat me… im long and lean and skinny just the right size for a bird of prey or coyote she says… but … whatever… I hate those “leashes!” (aka I need leash training slowly). In summary: I love to cuddle, dance, lick your feet, be silly, tap dance with my super huge feet to body ratio. I need a home that loves me for me, doesn't trip on dogs under their feet constantly, and can cuddle me as close to 24/7 as we get! Oh, also, I have been piddling on rugs and in the house… and outside like every 60 seconds… so foster mom took me to the vet, I am on an antibiotic, and will get results Monday to see if this is the right antibiotic. But I may need to stay away from rugs/ carpet for a bit at least. I am heartworm negative, and up to date on my 3 years rabies (just redone), microchipped, just had blood work today, and soon to be up to date on my other vaccines. Before I was adopted the 1st time, I had not weighed enough to be spayed… even at 3 years old. My adopter chose not to spay me as I was still tiny, and not around any other dogs, except my sister. I need to be re-evaluated for a spay when I get my dental, once I am adopted. My adoption fee is $400, but with proof of dental and spay evaluation, $200 of this will be refunded.

Story
General about info for the dogs currently listed in this group: Permanent, Loving Homes Needed for Senior Rescue Dogs Over many years, I have monitored and tried to help this particular group of dogs. These dogs have been loved, responsibly vetted, and cared for throughout their lives, though not in an ideal overall situation. They were in a somewhat hoarding situation… not the typical not cared for at all one, but still applies. They were kept clean and fed and I paid for most of their vet care along the way, but their owner would not surrender them until now. Due to this: Adoption fees are all $300, but will be returned once proof of dental is given. I am finally allowed to find them homes, and cannot provide the level of long-term veterinary care these dogs deserve — including dental work, senior monitoring, and ongoing medical needs, thus, I am seeking permanent, stable homes where their remaining years can be lived with comfort, dignity, and consistency. What I am looking for • A calm, stable home • Someone experienced with senior dogs • Financial ability to provide ongoing veterinary and dental care • A commitment to keep them for life — no rehoming • Patience, kindness, and realistic expectations These dogs are older (aged 8 to 12 years old), and while many are still active, affectionate, and content, they will require the kind of care someone prepared for senior dogs can provide. What I will provide Full transparency about age, temperament, and medical needs Important medical history is known I do not have every vaccine record/etc but they are all spayed/ neutered, microchipped, and current on rabies vaccines Time for proper introductions Careful, thoughtful placement — this will not be rushed I am open to placing individual dogs or compatible pairs, and I will work closely with the right people to ensure a good match. If you are genuinely experienced with senior dogs and are prepared — financially and emotionally— to care for one for the rest of their life, please reach out by private message and tell me about yourself, your home, and your experience. These dogs deserve peace, safety, and love for the remainder of their lives. Thank you for reading with compassion. Hello, My name is Aurora. I am about 9 years old, and was born 10/7/2017. I am fully vetted, and in great health. First of all, please know I am WAY cuter than my pictures do justice. I am a little wiggle butt, and my foster parents have had trouble getting a good picture of me. Also, the white on my face makes me look way older than I act. It has progressed since I was a baby, but I really dont act like an old lady! My only issue is that I am desperate need of a dental cleaning. My teeth are better than my sister from the same litter, who just found a home, but she had to have almost all of her teeth removed. I will most likely need at least a good portion of mine removed as well. The good news is that my shining personality will make up for this slight issue. I am beyond happy to do whatever you do, as long as you give me a chance to get to know you. My dog mommy, whom I was around for the 1st year of my life, and thus learned a lot from her, was super nervous natured. I am not like her often, except at first in new situations. I will need probably about 2 weeks to settle in before you try to take me on walks outside or anything similar. I do use potty pads very well, though so that makes this transition time easier. I am silly with a lot of energy. I do like food, but not super food obsessed. I love cats and other small dogs. I will NOT do well around children unless they are older and super patient and super calm with me. I am FULLY vetted: fixed, 3 year rabies, DDAVP, microchip, heartworm tested negative multiple times, including recently, and current on heartworm and flea preventative. My stuff comes with me (crate, bed, toys, hw flea prev for 3-6 months depending on where I am in between vet visits). Still needed: dental, and lepto if you plan on taking me outside in any possible standing water your yard or other places. This wasnt a thing in Houston, but apparently is here.

SparkPlug is a firecracker! Big personality in a little body. He is fun and curious, is doing great on routine! Learning so fast with potty training and basic commands. Loves his people and has to be cuddled to go to sleep. Does well in a home with small kids, teenagers, dogs (large and small) and cats. He has been learning to tell you he needs to go potty by the bell training and it's going well! Loves a good pup cup! Fully expects one anytime you go through the Starbucks drive thru! -----

A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.
