Story
Dont let the name fool you this little guy isnt a fire-breathing dragon, but he does have a flair for the dramatic. Drako is a total lap dog with diva energy, and hes not afraid to let the other dogs know hes the main character. He loves people (especially kids), though he'd prefer your toddlers keep their sticky fingers to themselves. Potty trained? Basically. Cat friendly? Absolutely not. Drako is the kind of dog who wants to be where you are, preferably draped across you like a fancy throw pillow with opinions. He rules the pack, steals hearts, and knows exactly which camera angle makes him look regal.

Story
Margarita is very quiet and can be shy at first until she gets to know you. She would be perfect for someone who works from home, wants to take their dog everywhere with them, as an emotional support animal, or for a senior looking for an easy, small, lightweight pet. The paperwork from the shelter estimated me being a senior, but I appear to be much younger, so we are going to ask the vet to reevaluate my age. She is a bit of a Houdini and can escape harnesses and does not do well on the leash. She would thrive in a home with a fenced yard for her to romp and play. She does do her nervous snips typical of chihuahua's but LOVES attention and to be next to her forever person. Kids definitely make her nervous and she likes to protect what is hers, toys, food and her person. So, although a bit diva she does get along with other pups with slow introduction and plenty of monitored time to connect. She does take a little more time to acclimate to a new environment but once she does, she is very endearing and sweet. If anyone has a special heart for the truly displaced, please consider giving Margarita a chance to learn to be the dog she was always meant to be.

Story
Welcome Missy to CCPAL Rescue Foster program. Missy Gorda is a 2 -year- old Chug (Pug/Chihuahua). She weighs about 13 pounds and appears to be a good weight. She has the Pug body and is thick in the middle. She is very playful with toys. She is in a foster home with a large dog and Minnie and she does good with both. She isn’t a big shedder. She isn’t too vocal which is nice. She can use the doggy door and goes outside to do her business. She came from a hoarding situation and probably hasn’t been held much. She is a little nervous being held and has a bit of a stiff body. She loves her crate and will go to it when she is scared. The crate makes her feel safe. She is a wonderful little dog. She is really doing great in her foster home. We think the best home for Missy is a home with a partially or fully retired person or someone who has a quieter home. She would be great with someone that is more to themselves and doesn’t have a houseful of people everyday. She is a nice dog and when she is afraid she will retreat to her crate. She is getting lots of attention in her foster home and is doing great. She wouldn’t require a huge yard but a fenced one would be best for this girl. She can go with children. We like them to be 8 or older. She is currently in Texas in foster care. She is getting her vaccinations and will be spayed soon. She can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $400 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Story
Welcome Flynn to CCPAL Rescue. Flynn is a 2.5 month old Chiweenie with a dash of miniature Pincher is our best guess. He looks mostly like a longer legged Dachshund mix. He has a really soft coat that is feels like a Dachshund. He weighs about 8 lbs. He should stay a small dog full grown. He is outgoing, trusting, affectionate and very sweet. He is good in a crate and really good with his sibling Chestnut. He likes to be held and is soft when you hold him. He would be best in a home that someone doesn’t work all day everyday. Puppies need socialization and time being with their human. He also will need to finish off his puppy training. He is getting his vaccinations and will be neutered soon and ready for his forever home. He was rescued from one of the local kill shelters in Texas. They were out of space and her time was up. CCPAL is giving him a second chance for a new forever home. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is $600 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Story
Meet Luke! Luke is a great little guy, around one year old and 14 lbs. He is full of personality! Luke is hilarious, affectionate, playful, and just a joy to have around. He is sweetheart who loves to be near you and lay by your feet as you are working. You can't help but fall in love with him when you meet him.  Luke has lived with other dogs before and can do well. He is a little leash reactive on walks, but it's workable and he is already doing better with the help of our trainer. He will be just fine as an only dog and probably would appreciate being treated like the prince of the household.  Luke does not have experience living with cats or kids so we recommend him for a cat-free home and a family with kids over 10 at this time.  He is such a sweet and cool little fella! Luke is vaccinated, neutered and chipped. His adoption fee is $450  We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at www.savinggreatanimals.org and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon! Story
Meet Kisses! Kisses is around 5 years old and a Pom/Chi mix.  She needs a minute to get to know you but once she warms to you, Kisses likes to snuggle with you on the couch or wherever you are. She warms up easily. She loves her morning and afternoon walks. She is playful and enjoys belly scratches. She will launch herself into a lap at any opportunity and give you kisses, hence her name! She wants you to know she loves you.   She is very affectionate with people but doesn't love sharing the attention with other pups. She's also a "runner" and she's very fast, so even when she is in an enclosed backyard she's always dragging a leash just in case. She appears very active but tires easily and wants a lap to sit in.  Kisses will love to share her life with her very own person. She will be a loving companion who will shower you with affection.  Kisses is vaccinated, spayed and chipped. Her adoption fee is $450 We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! Story
Meet Halsin! Halsin is a former encampment dog who lived through some very tough conditions, but now that he finally knows safety and comfort, he’s more than ready for a life of comfort - and he deserves every bit of it. Halsin is a lovely Pomeranian boy who strikes the perfect balance between couch-potato charm and outdoor-adventure enthusiasm. He’s equally happy loafing by your side or joining you on a leisurely walk, and he loves the rain just as much as clear skies. No weather fazes this guy. Halsin is emotionally sensitive in the sweetest way. He absolutely thrives on being near his people and is a true shadow dog for anyone who wants a quiet, affectionate companion. Snuggling, walkies, and constant gentle companionship are his love languages. He would shine in a home where someone works from home or simply enjoys having a dog as a steady presence throughout the day. Halsin is crate trained and nondestructive. He sleeps well in his crate overnight (though he’d rather happily curl up in bed with you given the chance!) He is potty trained, with only a couple marking incidents early on when new dogs were introduced inside the home. He is great with grooming once basic trust is established — nails, brushing, baths… especially if rotisserie chicken is involved. Halsin learns quickly, responds beautifully to gentle correction, and genuinely wants to please. He’s emotionally sensitive and very intelligent. Halsin gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is endlessly patient with his rambunctious foster sister. His corrections towards her have been few and appropriate. He would do well in a home with or without other dogs, though if there are other pets, he still needs plenty of human interaction — people are his true north. If you like a very physically affectionate dog that wants to be on or around you at all times, then this is your boy. He would not be a good match for anyone who prefers dogs that are more independent and like to have their own space. He warms up to new people within minutes, especially women (his clear favorite). With men, he can be briefly cautious, but he has warmed quickly to his foster dad and kind male visitors. His instincts from his past sometimes make him alert around strange men (especially at night) or at the door, but he is not a barker by nature otherwise. He will sometimes be protective of his foster mom on walks (again mostly at night) towards strange dogs and people. It took about two weeks for Halsin’s full personality to blossom in his foster home, but once it did, a warm, goofy, deeply affectionate boy emerged! He’s the kind of dog who weaves himself into your routine and your heart. His foster family describes him as one of the hardest dogs not to keep, and that says everything. Halsin is extraordinary. He is ready for a home that will adore him, include him, and let him finally live the cherished life he’s earn. He will be vaccinated, microchipped and neutered.
