Story
Meet Tiger Lily!  This four year old beauty is our prickly little pear...  tough and thorny to the touch, but soft and sweet on the inside.  Her tough past shaped her, but it won't define her future.  This little girl is a survivor!   In life, Tiger Lily approaches everything with caution.  She can be snappy when new people or dogs approach her and can become overwhelmed in new environments.  With a little patience, however, you'll easily win her over.  Confidence may be what this little girl lacks, but Leadership is what she craves.      In the home, Lily is a star!   Housebroken, crate trained, great on leash and knows all of her basic commands.  Agile and playful she loves walks around the neighborhood and exploring.  At night, however, she'll be your favorite weighted blanket as she curls up on your lap.   When in training, Lily rocked her cat test and would do well in a home with dog savvy cats.  It takes time, however, for her to warm up to any new dog.  Her foster sister is a sweet, laid back pit mix that Lily loves to curl up next to.  Dogs that aren't bossy, pushy, or scary are dogs that Lily would (eventually) do well with.   If you have an adult only home and aren't scared of a little challenge, Lily may be the pup for you.  We promise that she's worth the wait!  Contact us today for your private meet and greet.  You won't regret it....    Fill out an adoption application to schedule your own private meet and greet with this furry friend. Story
Fenced yard required Piper is an eight-month-old puppy that is coming out of her shell. Full of sweetness and curiosity, this little girl is also very timid and approaches everything with caution. Piper likes to observe everything going on around her before joining in, but she is slowly making progress with her socialization. Piper wants to be part of the action, she just doesn’t always know how to join in. She will circle around until she feels brave, and then she’ll jump on the couch or plop down on the floor. Piper doesn’t often seek out attention, but when she jumps up on the couch next to you, she soaks up the love and enjoys being petted, and she won’t get up until you move first. Piper will need a family that can be very patient with her and take the time to earn her trust. This sweet pup is her happiest when she is outside. Piper loves to prance around the yard and investigate all the smells and nose around under sticks and leaves. One of her favorite things to do is run around with a toy in her mouth and try to get the resident dogs to chase her. If she can’t convince anyone to play, she will toss the toy around and entertain herself. Piper doesn’t bark when she is in the yard, but loud noises do scare her and her first reaction is to run in the opposite direction, so having a fence to ensure that she doesn’t bolt out of the yard is imperative to her safety. Piper has shown a lot of progress since arriving at her foster home. She quickly learned how to go up stairs, and with a little coaxing (and her foster mom getting tired of carrying her) she learned to go down. She is good about jumping in the car and rides well, she just doesn’t always like to get out on her own. When she arrived, she didn’t know what a treat was, but she slowly started to realize how delicious they are and started to take one if it was placed in front of her, and then a couple days later decided it was safe to accept it from her foster mom’s hand. Piper will need some help with learning commands as she starts to get more comfortable with her environment. When it comes to her ideal forever home, patience is the biggest requirement for Piper’s future family. A calm environment would also help her feel comfortable, so older kids who understand how she feels and how to approach and respond to her would be best. Piper gets along well with other dogs and enjoys playing with them. She would fit in well with younger dogs, but she might be a bit much for older dogs. She would also be great as an only pup. No matter where she ends up, Piper is sure to be a loyal, fun, and endearing companion.

Story
Rough Collie 3 years old 34 pounds but underweight Fenced yard required Fostered in Illinois Don’t let the smooth-like coat fool you. Three-year-old Grace is a sable and white rough collie. Her coat was heavily matted and the shelter decided to shave her before releasing her to our rescue. Although Grace looks good as a smoothie, her beautiful long coat will return in no time. Meanwhile, enjoy her hugs, kisses, and sweet personality. Little Grace is a sweet and friendly girl. She loves cuddles and giving kisses. She greets strangers by gently jumping on them. She gets along well with the resident cats and two resident collies. She is curious and friendly with the next door neighbors’ dog as well. Grace and the neighbor’s dog jump up on the fence to see each other any chance they get; super cute to watch. Although at times she might be a tad bit pushy towards one of the dogs in the foster home, they both snuggle up for a nap on the couch at the end of the day. When not enjoying the comforts of home, Grace likes running around the yard. She gets bursts of energy and zooms all over the place. This fun girl needs a fenced in yard for sure! Grace is coming along nicely with her training. She knows the sit and come commands and is working on shake and down. She could use a little work on social etiquette. Her table and counter manners are less than ideal, and she tends to jump on people, but we feel that with consistent and gentle training she will learn in no time. Good thing she is food motivated. Grace rides well in the car, is pretty good on a leash, and is fine with loud noises. When outside, she has some difficulty keeping focus as there’s so much to see, hear, and smell while on leash or in the yard. Continued practice with following directions when distracted is recommended. Bath time and brushing is not a problem for Grace. Being a social girl, she likes to be with her collie pack when her humans are gone. One day, Grace expressed her displeasure with confinement. When she was left in a gated kitchen, she somehow managed to escape. She was found sitting on the couch happy and content as if she’d been there all day! And who can blame her? Maybe her nickname should be Houdini. Her foster mom started crating her when leaving for extended periods of time. Grace will whine for a while but will settle down. When everyone is home, the crate is open and you’ll find Grace relaxing there from time to time. With her playful nature and loving kisses, Grace would be a great addition to any family. Fill out an application for amazing Grace today.
