Hello Biggie Paws Friends! 👋Spring is coming and we have the perfect flower for you 🌸 …A Moonflower! Moonflower, (sometimes called Moonie by her foster family) is looking for her forever home - she is staying in McHenry, IL right now. Moonie is about 4 months old, 15 pounds and looks like a Shepherd Mix. There’s a lot of work that goes into the life of a puppy! Learning to walk on a leash, always going potty outside, looking after those humans… Moonflower is doing a great job with all her puppy skills! She still has some accidents, but has been doing great going to the bathroom outside - her foster family is also starting to teach her some tricks and commands, like ‘sit’! Sometimes new situations can be a little scary - I’m sure you’ve been there before! Moonflower feels this way sometimes too and just likes to have a little time to get to know people. Once she is comfortable, you’ll really get to see her affectionate side and she’ll curl right up in your lap. We recommend a forever home for Moonflower that does not have small children - she likes to have time to warm up to people, and sometimes little ones aren’t quite old enough to understand that. Moonflower loves her human friends, but may like her animal friends even more! When she gets a chance, she loves playing with other dogs and cats. 🐾Moonflower can’t wait to find her forever home! If you think she would be a good fit for your family and you would like to be considered to adopt her, please apply using the link below! Moonflower is available for adoption for a fee of $500. She is microchipped, up-to-date on all her age-appropriate shots and spayed.http://www.biggiepawsrescue.orgDATCP # 494550

Story
Are you ready to welcome the cutest bundle of fluff you've ever seen in your life? Meet Puppy, a 1-year-old chow chow, collie, golden retriever mix who was found terrified and roaming the streets of the South before SCCR took him in. He may have had a rocky start, but let us assure you, he's come a loooong way since then.Puppy's got a strategy when it comes to meeting humans. Step 1: approach them with a wagging tail and inquisitive sniffs. Step 2: assess the situation, and if a petting hand approaches, execute an expert retreat! Step 3: entice humans to dispense treats in exchange for trust. Step 4: allow special Puppy belly rub (with his foster parents, he's become a belly-rub connoisseur, with a hint of reluctance and a dramatic flair.) Who knew belly rubs could be both a pleasure and an art form?Let's talk about Puppy's skills. He's like a treat-seeking missile, guided by the invisible scent trails of his favorite snacks. He knows his commands - sit, leave it, and touch - and if you wave a treat, he'll be happy to give you a show. He's playful, too; he loves squeaky toys and a good dog wrestle! Puppy does well with all kinds of dogs, as long as they're not too "in his face." In fact, he'd love a home with a fenced-in yard and a confident doggie sibling who can continue to show him the ropes as he grows up. His best bud & foster brother Jaxson can vouch for this. They're like the canine version of dynamic duo, causing double trouble and playing all day long in the yard.Puppy might not be a cuddler (yet!), but he's got ways to show he cares. Waiting outside the bathroom? Check. Tail wagging with enthusiasm? Double check. And the grand finale - letting you pet him and rub his belly without a disappearing act. Bravo! We're looking for a special kind of human for Puppy, someone with a quiet home (probably no small children) who understands that building trust takes patience, time and treats (mostly treats, though). Puppy's journey to normalizing his fears is a tale of triumph waiting for its final chapter. So, if you've got a bit of a doggy whisperer in you, and a love for treats that rivals his own, then you might just be the hero this fluffy adventurer is looking for!PLEASE NOTE: Puppy does have an abnormal gait that he currently manages well without any medication or pain. Anyone interested in Puppy should apply and speak to our medical team for his medical history and records.Interested in adopting this dog? Visit our website (http://www.SecondCityCanineRescue.org) to fill out an application and to find out where this dog may be shown this weekend. We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog's individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog. Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don't know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess. Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area. Questions? Email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org. Hope to see you become part of the SCCR family!

Check out our Facebook page and YouTube channel for more pictures & videos of our adoptable dogs!  Updated: 11/28/2023 Dog Name: Willow Sex: Female Estimated Breed Mix: Smooth Collie/ Mix Approximate Age: 2 years Approximate Weight: 40 lbs. Description: Sweet Willow was abandoned in the woods of a small Texas town, she was skin and bones and had very obviously been owned before. She greeted her finders with a wagging tail and lots of kisses! Willow is very intelligent and listens very well. She is great with other dogs, big & small. She is also great with kids! She is a petite medium size, the kind of dog you can take for adventures or just lounge at home! Willow deserves a warm and loving home! Adoption Fee: $400.00 We are a Wisconsin state licensed dog rescue -WI# 402433   ***We do not have a central adoption center at this time. All our dogs are in private foster homes within WI. At this time we only place our dogs in areas of WI. The breed of our dogs is our best guess with the help of our veterinarians. Our Weight Classes are as follows: 0- 25lbs - Small 26- 45lbs - Medium 46-89 - Large 90+ X-large If you are adopting an adult dog, which we consider 6 months of age or older, your adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper shots, dewormed, flea & tick preventative, heartworm tested and microchipped. If you are adopting a dog younger than 6 months of age, the dog will be up to date on the shots as per the dogs age. The dog will be dewormed, flea/tick preventative and microchipped. We only spay/neuter our dogs by 6 months of age. If you decide to adopt a younger dog than 6 months of age, they will need to be spayed/neutered at one of our preferred clinics. This will be determined by your contract along with the month they should have their surgery. This is included in your adoption fee. Once you are approved with our rescue, you can meet any one of our dogs within the fosters home. If you are interested in the dog you met, you can take the dog home under our mandatory foster to adopt program. You receive 5 days to see if the dog is the right fit for your home. If it is, we will conduct the home visit and finalize adoption. If it is not, it is returned to the foster. We are happy to find you another dog that meets your needs in your home. If a dog is listed as PENDING, a family has met the dog and planning on adopting the dog after the home visit has been conducted. We always suggest sending in an application for a dog because there are times where the dogs are given back to us under the foster to adopt program. There are many reasons dogs are returned but normally it just was not the right fit for all. Please go to WWW.TAILWAGGERS911.COM under HOW TO ADOPT . We have an online application that is very easy to fill out. April 15, 2024, 8:03 pm

Story
Fenced Yard Required Fostered in SW Missouri (Springfield area) Meet Trixie! This darling 1.5 year old girl is slowly coming out of her shell and showing her true, sweet personality. For most of her life, Trixie was very sheltered. Then a family obtained her, and they loved her very much. But the busy household, daily activities, and active children were overwhelming for Trixie. Her family reached out to us with the hope that we would be able to find her a home where she could relax, live without fear, and thrive. Trixie is a very sweet and gentle girl that needs confidence building activities and slow, continuous socialization. Guiding her through these stress reducing lessons will be made easier since Trixie is food motivated and will gladly sit for a treat. Leash walking is a work in progress and will take a while as she gets nervous about new sounds and new situations. It takes her some time to trust, but once Trixie gains your trust she will want to stay near you and enjoy all the cuddling and petting you have to offer. She will also seek reassurance from her person when she gets a bit unsure or anxious. This girl is young and playful. She will entertain herself with toys; she will even bring you a shoe or a slipper just in case you need one. She also likes to carry her toys around the house and leave them in various locations. Being young, she still likes to chew on Nylabones so she will need to be supervised or crated when not watched. Still a puppy at heart, she likes to run and play with other dogs and needs to learn proper play manners. She is a little overwhelming for older dogs and gets too wild when playing with young ones. Trixie would be fine with a mild mannered, patient dog, but we also believe she would be fine as an only dog too. What she needs most is a patient family that will take things slowly and guide her through the adjustment period and the learning process. Because Trixie is easily startled, a fenced in yard is required. It will allow her to run around and play safely. This lovely, deserving girl is looking for a calm, understanding forever home where she will be loved and cherished. She will in turn repay you in collie kisses! Story
Thumper was 1 day away from getting the needle when he was brought to Wisconsin. Why would a young, beautiful, vibrant dog be next up for euthanasia? Thumper was captured in the mountains of Kentucky with a pack of dogs. He didn’t know, like or trust humans. If you tried to put a leash on him, he would flop around, pull, bite on the leash and paw at it until his feet were bleeding. Because of his fear, you couldn’t pet him as he would hide in the back of the cage.  It took 4 days of dragging Thumper around the yard to get him to accept a leash. Three days later, he was off leash. Because Thumper is a pack dog, he accepts his role in the pack. He quickly became loyal and followed directions.  Thumper is listed as a mixed breed. He looks, acts, and feels like a border collie. He is very smart and shows his personality running in the woods and playing with other dogs. Thumper is NOT a dog that will lay on the couch and eat treats. He must be mentally and physically challenged. Look up border collie if you are unaware of their tendencies. Thumper is estimated to be 2 years old. He has longer soft fur and is knockout gorgeous.  Thumper’s transformation has been phenomenal. He is starting to snuggle with his foster dad. He is allowing other people at work to pet him. Noises rarely startle him.  When Thumper first saw little humans, he ran away barking. He now lets a 2-year-old pet him and is starting to nose bump a baby.  He is very smart and gets along with other dogs. He played with an 8 pound dog and an 80 pound dog. He will stay away from dogs that want to be left alone. When he gets bored, he will explore and be a little mischievous.  If you are interested in Thumper, do some research on border collies so that you know what type of behavior to expect. Animal is Fostered in: Milwaukee, WI For more information, or to apply for adoption, visit our website at: www.RescueOutreach.com Please note the following will be performed on all animals prior to adoption: Microchip Spay/Neuter (unless medically unable at time of adoption, in which case this will be discussed) Heartworm Testing (dogs);    FELV/FIV Testing (cats) Age appropriate CORE vaccines.  Dhpp, Rabies (if old enough)-dog;  CVR, Rabies (if old enough) - cat  - WE DO NOT ADMINISTER BORDETELLA unless indicated.   PLEASE NOTE- puppies and kittens may need to complete vaccination schedule depending on age at time of adoption.   Dewormed All breeds are best guess from veterinarian based on physical exam.  All animals come from high kill shelters with poor access to resources.  Once they arrive to our rescue they are quarantined for health purposes and spoiled in loving foster homes until their forever home is found!  Our organization is operated 100% by volunteers who give their time and love out of the goodness of their hearts.   ##1868248##
