Meet Jillian! ​This charming blue merle girl will melt your heart with her bubbly personality and beauty! Jillian loves meeting new people and treats every person as if they were her long lost friend. She loves following her foster family around the house, snuggling with them, or napping at their feet. Outdoors, she enjoys playing tag with her male BC foster brother, but she does not like to interact with the foster family's female dog, so she would be best in a house as an only dog or with a male. Jillian knows basic commands such as sit, down, and shake, and she is learning to be crate trained. She is very food motivated and loves getting her reward treats! Jillian does well on leash when heeling and is enjoying her daily trail adventures with her foster family. She can pull when excited by other dogs or prey animals, and her foster family is working on this through recall practice with treats. She has a strong prey drive and some herding tendencies, so she will do best in a home with no small children or cats. Jillian is current on vaccinations and is spayed. Story
Pongo is being fostered in Ringwood IL Meet Pongo!  He is a black tri with a tail, Australian Shepherd Border Collie mix.  His momma was in rescue with her litter of pups and is a 35lb. black tri Aussie.  Daddy was a Border Collie that was 40-45lbs.  Pongo's date of birth is 2/11/2025 so at 10 months old, he is still learning about the world and would LOVE a positive other doggie role model in his forever home or a mom or dad that would be willing to keep socializing him po Pongo is curious, brave, loves snuggles and is super smart!  He loves to love and he loves to learn.  He already knows, sit, down, go in (for his crate) come, wait, he waits at the door to be released with an OK, he is just a quick learner and so eager to please.  If you have never had an Australian Shepherd or a Border Collie, we highly recommend doing some research before thinking this breed is for you.  While they are absolutely adorable, they will need to work and have jobs or they can become destructive when bored and display some undesirable behaviors.  Pongo  is going to need a home that will continue his socialization with the world around him.  Without proper positive continued socialization Aussies can become guard dogs and a little insecure (Border Collies) about the world around them.  We recommend continued positive socialization throughout their entire lives!  Pongo is being fostered with other dogs, has good doggie social skills, and loves to run, play and chase.  He is food motivated, eager to please and just a total goofball.  He does great with everyone he meets but because of his puppiness, we recommend children over 12. Pongo is potty trained and crate trained, a little overexcited on leash at the beginning of the walk, but settles in nicely once you get going.  He LOVES to sniff on walks!!!!! He is also a little mouthy because he is still so young, but we are working on that in foster care. He would LOVE a fenced yard to run and play in, but as long as he has an outlet for his energy like classes, running, etc, he would be ok without a fence, but DAILY mental and physical exercise is a MUST for this youngster! He will need a MINIMUM of 2-3 hours of exercise throughout the day.  He is currently enrolled in tricks class at WAG: WI- IL Agility Group in Sopring Grove IL to work on some impulse control and self confidence.  Pongo is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, is microchipped, negative for all tick borne diseases, dewormed and on monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. Sydney is a tri-colored 6-7 year old female miniature Aussie. She has been spayed and weighs 28 pounds. She still needs to be vetted. Sydney is housebroken, walks good on the leash, gets along well with cats and dogs. She has not been around kids that she knows of. Sydney is not crate trained and the owner does not allow her to sleep on the bed with her. She does not have a fenced in yard but is used to being tether in order to spend free time outdoors. The reason for the surrender is that the Mom found out her daughter that has a mental illness was living in her car with Sydney and rescued the dog. She is unable to care for the dog at this time. My name is Bandit but my foster mom calls him Nugget is 11 lbs.  I love to play also but I am also very happy just sitting on your lap or next to you and observe.  I love giving kisses. My brother's name is Smokey but my foster mom calls me Scout (the one with white on the back of my neck), I weigh 11 lbs and I am very investigative.   As you can see we are small but can hold our own even with the big dogs. Our father was Mini Australian Shepherd and mom was a Jack Russell Terrier. We love to go for walks on the leash in the neighborhood to explore. We are between 4 and 5 months old. Smokey/Scout: I love to play and check things out!  I give kisses when you catch me.  I can also be a little bit sneaky, so if there is a big enough hole I am brave and will slip right through there to explore!
