Story
Hi there, I’m a shy girl named Kora and I appear to be a Corgi/Terrier mix but my shelter records say I’m a Chihuahua mix. I mean, this is Laredo Texas, so I’m probably part Chihuahua like most other dogs around here, LOL. I am 6 years old, weigh 28 lbs, and last year I was a very pregnant stray dog when brought to the animal shelter and then to a dog rescue just in time to have 6 gorgeous puppies who grew up to be tall and beautiful like Labrador Retrievers and not one of them looked like me or anything like a Chihuahua. I was a wonderful mama, patient and loving, and although all my puppies were very social, I am still a scardy cat. Sweet and submissive, it will take me some time to come out of my shell and ask for affection, but eventually I did with my foster mom and now I’m enjoying pets and tummy rubs, sharing kisses, playing with doggy toys, and playing with the other foster dogs. Mostly I am still a couch potato, quiet and unassuming, and my foster mom says I make the perfect TV companion/sleeping buddy. I am a good girl at home, calm and well-behaved with no chewing on your things or digging in the yard, only bark to alert you to something important, and I do not guard my food or my toys. I do not have separation anxiety and am perfectly fine when home alone or with a doggy companion. I am good in a crate and completely housebroken and will use a doggy door to potty outside and I also know how to use a potty pad. I do not mind going for a ride in the car, but the leash is another story. I am nervous about being picked up and when my harness is on and a leash attached, I will usually lay down with my legs spread out like a bearskin rug and refuse to walk. I am working on this but I’m taking it slow, in baby steps, learning to build some confidence. I have come a long way since I was first found, and I’m ready enough to take that final step, leave my foster home in Texas, and find a real forever home somewhere in or near Connecticut.
