Story
Thank you for your inquiry. Bambi has an adopter but we have to wait for them to go pick her up after the stay-at-home is lifted. Once she is picked up we will remove her profile. Please do not write to us for an application. Sorry for any inconvenience. Bambi is extremely shy. She is approximately 1 year old and weighs just 7 lbs. Once she warms up she is very affectionate. Bambi wouldn't do well in a busy home with loud fast children because she would be scared of them. She gets along well with cats, though, and doesn't chase them. She is good with other dogs of all sizes and plays with them when she isn’t coming to you for love. She loves to cuddle up on your lap or in your bed at night! She is simply a loving little doll. Bambi is very calm and well-behaved. She is good on a leash as well. Bambi needs a quiet home without a lot of noise or strange people coming over all the time for her to feel safe and comfortable. She is very sweet and not aggressive at all, even when scared. She would do best in a home with another dog or where she has contact with her owner throughout the day. because they are home She wouldn’t do well left alone for a full workday without a canine companion. Bambi is a loyal companion once she gets to know you and will show you love and affection. She would do best with somewhere like a patio or a yard so she can go out as she does now to do her business. This little doll is a lovable, cuddly, and trusting little girl when she gets to know you. Given some time and patience, she will warm up to someone willing to give her the loving and secure home that she deserves. Bambi is being fostered in Oakland. Ca. Her adoption fee is $275.00. Arrangements to meet our dogs occur after an application has been received. Please contact us at dogzonerescue@yahoo.com for more information about this great gal or for an application to adopt.

Story
Archie is about 12 pounds and 2 years old. He came in with a bunch of other dogs from the same house. He is shy with people but social with dogs. Given about a week time to settle, Archie has become his foster mom's absolute shadow. He will need a person/family who will be home much of the day. Another dog would be a plus! Archie loves snuggling on the couch, chasing his canine foster sister around the lawn, he’s a great eater, and mostly potty trained with only a few accidents. He’s very treat motivated and willing to learn to make his human happy! Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Archie is $300. If you are interested in adopting Archie, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. Archie is being fostered in Lafayette. See our other available dogs at  https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/available-dogs/ April 21, 2025, 6:05 pm

Story
"Hey everyone! Come say hello to ME!" Candy Land will be the first to tell you, maybe we should have named her Chutes and Ladders, since she is loving bopping around HQ, actively greeting everyone and finding out if they're ready for a turn at a favorite board game. This little 12 years-young tan Chi mix will be happy to sit down with you and beat you at a game of Monopoly. Miss Candy L. is an active, energetic, fun little gal who would benefit greatly from a few walks around the neighborhood every day as she needs to shed a few of her 18 pounds. This big, happy girl is just waiting for the right person to come in and play a game with her! Or, at the very least, go out together for an afternoon constitutional. When you come to Muttville, just ask for the joyful bundle of love, Candy Land! Here's some notes from her foster: Candyland is a charmer. She charmed the guests at my dinner party just by snoring at their feet. She loves people and gets along with my dogs and cats. She hasn’t come face-to-face with my rabbits, but she doesn’t go crazy circling their enclosure. Candyland loves to eat. She can get a little protective of her food. I can touch her bowl, but she might snarl if one of my dogs encroaches upon her and her food. If you have a dog that isn’t food-motivated, it would be a good fit. I also think Candyland would be fine as the only dog in a household. Candyland doesn’t have leash aggression. Even when my knuckleheads go nuts at other dogs, she doesn’t join in. Candyland is very quiet – not a barker. She doesn’t seem to have any problems being left alone as she doesn’t cry or whine when I’m gone. She whined a bit in my car, but that went away after a few days. I think she got used to my routine. Candyland is fine on leash. I wouldn’t say she’s a zig-zagger, but she sometimes walks a little too close to me and gets underfoot. She walks better when she’s not walking with other dogs. Candyland enjoys being out and can walk a good mile. Of course, she’ll bepooped afterwards. Candyland sleeps peacefully through the night but needs to go immediately upon waking. When I’m not in the office, she’ll tell me when she needs to go out if we’re in between potty breaks. Candyland sleeps in my bed. Sometimes she gets too close and encroaches upon what little space the other dogs have left me. I just move her, and she gets comfy again and goes back to sleep. Candyland is a very good sleeper. She doesn’t bother or wake me all through the night. Candyland is a true low rider. She doesn’t do stairs. Unless you’re willing to carry her up as well as down, stairs are a no-no. It seems more of a mental than a physical challenge for her, as she seems physically fit and active. Maybe she would be able to if my stairs were carpeted. Overall, Candyland has been an easy foster and a great houseguest. She’s very cooperative. She doesn’t get carsick. She is calm in an elevator. Not a picky eater. Goes with the flow. She acclimated to my routine quickly. She’s smart, friendly, social, and a good companion dog.

Story
Benny is a happy little guy who is a unique mixture of breeds! He was rescued from the Oakland SPCA, where he was reported to be timid and stressed in the shelter environment. In the last two weeks since bringing him home from the shelter, he has opened up and quickly formed attachment to his humans. We have discovered his love for long walks, squirrels, tug of war, and play time! He loves to snuggle and lounge with his people on the couch and is great on leash - he has even been on a couple of hikes! We are sadly looking to rehome him because our busy work schedules have not allowed us to be with him as much as he needs. He has some separation distress and needs a home where his people are around most of the time and can take him on adventures. He does great in the car, is house trained, comfortable sleeping in a crate, and very treat motivated. He is a sweet, affectionate, and silly boy and will make a wonderful companion!

Story
Rosco is an affectionate and friendly senior pup, approximately 13-14 years old. He was diagnosed with diabetes two years ago but manages well with his routine care. He gets along wonderfully with all dogs and is fully potty trained. Rosco is incredibly food-motivated (which makes treat time extra fun!), and his sweet nature makes him an absolute joy to have around. The only challenge? Keeping him out of the kitchen—he’s always hoping for a snack! 🐶❤️
