**Meet Wesley this Saturday, July 13th from 10:00 to 12:00 at Dublin Petsmart West, 6960 Amador Plaza Rd.** How could you say no to such beautiful, inquisitive eyes? This little youngster is as sweet as he looks and will happily snuggle by your side, day or night. Wesley's favorite pastimes are playing enthusiastically with his toys, napping cozily with his blanket, and simply being the most adorable dog you've ever seen. He is quickly improving at staying calm when he's alone, as he loves spending time with his people. Wesley cannot wait to find a forever home that will embrace everything from his floppy ears and upright tail to his cute little trot and unique personality. Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday June 29th from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $400   Spring is an 8 year old Dachshund-Pit mix who can’t wait to blossom with her forever family! Spring came to our rescue with her litter of 2 week old babies after she was abandoned at the shelter, which is no place for a sweet little family. Now that her babies are all grown up and she has had some Mama relaxation time, she is ready to find a home to live out her golden years in! Spring weighs 27 pounds and is a low-rider! Are you a Pitbull lover but the size of a typical Pitty doesn't fit your life? Well, we have your answer here. This girl is all that but in a compact size!   Below is a note from Spring’s foster.  “Spring is a fabulously cuddly and loving gal who can’t wait to meet her new BFF! When you first meet her, she can take a little bit to warm up but once she does, she is ready for non-stop snuggles. She would love to find a home where she can spend her days loving her people, being the best zoom companion ever! Spring is more of a couch potato kind of dog, but she does love her daily romps around the neighborhood. Spring is fully potty trained both with potty pads and outside. Spring adores the softer things in life, from blankets to toys and dotes on her Lamb Chop. Spring would be a perfect hike companion or a “snuggle and movie” friend.  Spring starts her morning with a potty break and breakfast at around 7 AM. During the day, she hangs out in a playpen with her bed and toys. She spends her time mostly snoozing and soaking up the sunshine. After I finish work for the day, we go on a walk to the park where she sniffs and gets her zoomies out. After her walk, she comes home for dinner and snuggles as I unwind from the day. She ends her day curled up on her soft dog bed as she dreams of adventures ahead!  Spring would do best in a home where she can be the only dog, or with a chill companion. She loves walks and trots alongside me as we wander the neighborhood. Spring gets along with all people, but prefers a slow introduction, so a home with loud kids might not be the best fit for her. Spring is such a lovely girl with beautiful, soulful eyes who deserves the absolute best forever home.” Spring would be best suited for a home with prior dog experience, but she could be a first-time dog. Spring would do best as a solo dog. Kids in the home should be over the age of 10.July 13, 2024, 8:31 pm

If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered. Adoption Fee: $500 Mixie is a 2 year old Dachshund mix with a song in his heart that says “Let Me Be Your Best Friend Forever”! Mixie lept straight from his shelter cage into the welcoming arms of his rescuer and he has never looked back! This 14 pound cutie has a gorgeous gray coat, a wagging tail, and a love of adventure. Read on to hear about how Mixie will remix your life for the better!    Mixie is a world-class loverboy who has a heart of pure gold! He loves playing with toys, lounging around the house, and sniffing around the yard. He takes some time to get used to new people, but he loves his family above all else. He’s the kind of dog who needs correction when necessary but he looks up to you for everything once he knows you’re looking out for him! He is a total velcro dog who would love to follow you around the world if you let him. He is very smart as well and already knows to sit, stay, bed, and watch me. He is very treat motivated and a very good listener, so we know that list will only grow! Mixie is an amazing blend of playful and cuddly, so he can follow all your adventures.  Mixie starts his day at 6 AM with a wagging tail as he heads outside for potty time. He has breakfast once he comes back inside and then hangs out in the family room as his foster people get ready for the day. He joins the walk to school and says goodbye to the foster human siblings before he heads home for a long snooze in his warm dog bed. He loves running around the house showing off his toys and his bright smile. He happily hangs out in the crate when his foster people leave the house. In the evening, he gets a second meal before his second walk of the day. He spends some time snuggling his foster family before he goes to his crate for bed.  Mixie does well when his people can give him directions and leading. He needs reminders, especially on leash to “leave it” when he passes other dogs. Once he gets through an initial introduction, he can live happily with other dogs and adores playing around the yard.  Mixie loves to trot on the leash and has been working on his polite introductions to neighborhood pups. He’s been making fabulous progress and we expect his forever home to continue that progress. Mixie is fully house trained and crate trained.    Mixie would probably do best as a solo dog, or as a companion to a submissive pup. No kids in the household for Mixie, he prefers to get down with the adult crowd.July 13, 2024, 8:31 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $500 Fork is a 1 year old Dachshund x Miniature Pinscher mix looking for his matching spoon! Fork was taken in by a good citizen after his former home was no longer able to care for him. That good citizen wanted to do best by Fork and reached out to us in the hope we could help her out. We took Fork in and promised him his next home would be his last! Fork weighs around 13 pounds and has absolutely fabulous bat ears that earn him compliments wherever he goes. We know Fork is ready for his next food adventure with the perfect foodie forever home! Plus, as a Hot Dog dog, he’s already bringing half the fun along with him!   Fork is a sweet, sensitive dude with a heart that’s just ready to burst with love for his forever home. Fork came to our rescue severely undersocialized and very shut down, so we took it slow and let him lead the way as he got settled in. After a few weeks of gentle love and care, we have started to see Fork’s temperament emerge and he is a wonderful gem! Fork would love a home where he can gain his confidence as he starts checking out the world outside his front door. For those who love helping shy dogs blossom, Fork would be the perfect dog for that challenge. Once you earn his love, you will have a devoted companion who is ready to follow you anywhere. If you want a buddy ready for a movie marathon, Fork is that pup! If you are looking for a walking companion, Fork is waiting by the door with the leash, as long as you let him set the pace. We know that once our Fork finds his Spoon, he will be in bliss!  Fork starts his morning at 7 AM with a full body wiggle before he gets up and faces the day. After he’s ready for action, he heads outside for a potty session before coming back inside for breakfast. During the day, Fork spends his time sniffing around the yard, monitoring his foster mom as she works around the house, and relaxing on one of his many plush beds. In the afternoon, Fork does a daily desensitization session where he works on facing a fear. He gets a reward for being a brave boy in the form of a dog treat! Fork gets dinner at 6 PM and then spends his evenings curled up on his bed as he watches tv with his foster family. After one last trip outside for potty, Fork heads to his crate for the night at 10 PM.    Fork is friendly with other dogs if he is allowed to slowly get comfortable. He would love a confident canine companion who’s willing to wait as he works out his comfort. He could also thrive as a solo dog. Fork will need continued socialization and training to ensure he feels his confident best. Fork will be best suited to an adult-only home. July 13, 2024, 8:31 pm

If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $600   Otter is a 5 month old Dachshund mix who is otter-ly adorable and ready to meet you! Otter was saved from a kill shelter by a good citizen and then surrendered to DPS. He was very scared when he arrived at our doorstep but we promised him a brighter future. This young boy has lived a lot in his short life but we know his next chapters will be full of love! Otter weighs 20 pounds so he likely had a larger sized dad. We expect his adult weight to be around 30-35 pounds.     Otter is a quiet and loving puppy who is ready to blossom into a confident boy! If you are looking to help show a dog the meaning of unconditional love so you can receive it in return, this is your boy. Right now, the world is very big for a little dog like him, but his amazing foster has been exposing him to new things and he is very receptive. Otter is looking to find his one and only. He adores his foster mom and would follow her to the ends of the Earth. Once you gain his trust, you’ve got it forever. Then, he blossoms into a goofy, sweet puppy who is a total cuddlebug, curling up in laps for snuggles and kisses. Otter is learning to love toys and likes the soft plushies he can carry around. Otter loves a bone or teething chew toy and will gnaw away happily.  When Otter is with his canine foster sibling, he is a totally different dog! It has been amazing to watch him learn how to “dog” when he has another dog to learn from. Now, he is trotting out of his crate in the morning and exploring the yard like a total pro! He copies everything his foster sibling does and loves to zoom around the yard with her. He loves to sit with her and encourage her to play with him. He has even started to enjoy his walks as he can take his cues from his foster sister.  Otter sleeps through the night in his crate and wakes up at 7 AM. He heads right outside to potty with some motivation from his foster mom. He follows her back inside after he finishes and gets some snuggles and belly rubs. He has breakfast in his crate as his foster family gets ready for the day. Otter is still figuring out the world around him. He is growing in confidence every day and is learning how to “dog”. Otter gets dinner at 5 PM. In the evening, he cuddles and loves on his foster mom. Otter is still figuring out walking and playing. He will need continued socialization and training to ensure he reaches a confident adulthood. He is doing well with potty training but does need some continued work.   Otter is an option for a foster-to-adopt trial period. He is only an option for those who have a resident dog, as he thrives in the presence of a confident canine sibling. Kids in the home should be over the age of 15.July 13, 2024, 8:31 pm

Van Halen was rescued from the shelter with his musical pals and after some good ol fashioned TLC, he jumped into the arms of his foster and away we went! Van Halen went on a weight-gaining journey and now that he’s feeling 100% fabulous, he’s ready to book his comeback tour in his favorite residency: your house! Van Halen weighs 15 pounds which makes him the perfect sized companion for all the adventures in store for him. With his incredibly unique coat and his happy personality, he’s just a perfect pup!    Van Halen is the sweetest little guy on the planet according to everyone who has ever met him! He wiggles his way into the hearts of all lucky enough to come into contact with him with his fabulous temperament and gorgeous markings. VH is super smart and tries to live his life as the best boy he can be. He loves to be with his people and cuddle, but he is also happy to entertain himself when he needs to. He loves toys and has several favorites on constant rotation. Today, it’s a tiny tennis ball. Tomorrow? Who knows! Van Halen is a fabulous adventure companion. He’s been camping, to the beach, on hiking trails, to the neighborhood park, local breweries, and more! He is also happy to hang on the couch if you are looking for a slower day in between adventures. Our favorite thing about Van Halen? He loves the smallest joys in life, finding prized sticks on his walks and carrying them home proudly. Such a goofy dude! We know his new family will have such an amazing life with him.  Van Halen starts his morning with a brief stroll around the block at 8:30 AM before coming back home for some breakfast. During the morning, VH occupies himself with his toys while his foster family start their workdays. When available, VH delights in cuddles on the couch as he gets chin scratches. His afternoon is filled with naps and more playtime. He is an amazing WFH buddy as he is just so content to be near you. He gets another stroll in the evening as the weather cools down before his dinner at 6 PM. Van Halen spends his evenings lounging on the couch or zooming down the hallway after his toys. Before bed, he gets one last potty break before tucking himself into bed and drifting off to sleep.  Van Halen gets along well with dogs of all ages and sizes. He adores the resident cat and plays with her whenever she allows it. He loves people, from the kids to the kids at heart. Van Halen walks well on the leash and loves meeting his neighbors. Van Halen is an easygoing little buddy who will fit in well in a variety of homes. He is so sweet and just wants to live his life adoring you!   Van Halen is an option for any home, regardless of prior dog owning experience. He would be an amazing first dog. Kids in the home should be over the age of 5.July 9, 2024, 7:04 pm
