Adoption Fee: $700Meet Flower Power — The Sweetest Little Shadow You'll Ever Have!   Flower Power may have started her journey alone in a shelter kennel, but this 3–4 month old Dachshund-Catahoula mix is blooming into the most loyal, loving pup you could imagine. From the moment she joined her foster home, it was clear this girl had a gentle soul and a big heart—especially for the little ones. She's a devoted protector of her toddler foster sibling, sleeping beside the bed every night like a tiny, furry guardian angel.   Despite her puppy status, Flower Power has a calm and thoughtful energy. She enjoys short bursts of zoomies and fetch sessions (she’s already mastered the return-and-drop part!), but she's just as happy curling up in a cozy dog bed or stretching out for a snooze on the couch. She wakes around 7am, takes a brief potty break, and starts her day with some light yard exploration— sticks and tiny rocks are her treasures of choice. Meals are a slow, savored affair for this refined little lady, with breakfast enjoyed throughout the morning and dinner around 6pm.   Flower is a classic Velcro pup, gently shadowing her foster family from room to room. She’s particularly bonded to the women and children in the home and keeps a watchful ear out at night, barking only when she hears something that might threaten her people. She's a quiet presence otherwise— respectful with cats, gentle with kids, and cautious around larger dogs, though she'd love a small canine friend to keep her company.   Though she's still working on her potty training and getting used to walking on a leash (she's a baby, after all!), she’s already crate-trained and sleeps through the night without accidents. Like any teething pup, she does enjoy chewing, so supervision is needed outdoors where tempting rocks and twigs abound— but she’s impressively well-behaved and listens when you ask her to 'leave it' or 'drop it.' That kind of responsiveness is rare in a young puppy!   Flower Power would thrive in a family with children, a calm small dog, or a friendly cat. She's smart, affectionate, and beautifully attuned to the people she loves. And with her endearing lopsided ears—one up, one flopped—plus her hilarious obsession with chasing hose water, she’s sure to bring smiles wherever she goes.   Ready to welcome some Flower Power into your life? She’s more than ready to give her heart to a forever family.                    June 11, 2025, 4:35 am

If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $500Hambone (aka Hammy) – Your Daily Dose of Ham, Hold the Mayo  Introducing Hambone, a 20lb Dachshund mix with the soul of a lounge singer, the face of a sad-eyed poet, and the name of a 1950s rockabilly backup dancer. He's 6–7 years old, and while his name might suggest bacon-fueled chaos, Hammy is actually the chillest little loaf you’ll ever meet. He’s got all the good parts of a ham: he’s tender, comforting, mildly dramatic, and will 100% try to win an Oscar for “Best Staring Deeply into Your Eyes Until You Pet Him Again.” He also responds well to pet wipes, silly sweaters, and unsolicited belly rubs. What more could you want? Daily Routine (a.k.a. The Ham Schedule) Hammy wakes up around 7am, gives a big stretch like he just got back from yoga retreat, and heads outside to inspect the very suspicious front yard. He doesn’t do his business in the backyard because—honestly—he’s got standards. After breakfast between 8–9am and another bathroom trip, he gears up for his most cherished daily adventure: The Walk (insert dramatic theme music). He'll tug you like a tiny sled dog for the first 10 minutes, then settle into an elegant trot fit for royalty. After that, it’s nap o’clock until the kids come home from school—at which point he resumes his role as Snuggle Consultant. Dinner's at 5:30pm, followed by more lounging, more love, and a few soulful whimpers if you leave the room without him. Personality: Honey-Baked Soul Hammy is sweet, calm, affectionate, and a little clingy in the most flattering way. He’s gone from independent gentleman to full-blown Velcro Ham in just a few days. He will follow you from room to room like your shadow—if your shadow had big brown eyes and a constant need for cuddles. He doesn’t love being carried (he has dignity, okay?), but he adores being pet and will gently boop you with his nose or place his head under your hand if you ever stop. How dare you. Tech Specs Housetrained-ish: He’s mostly on point, with the occasional whoopsie during emotional overload (food, excitement, existential dread). Crate-Friendly: He loves his crate—when not wearing the Cone of Shame. Noise Sensitive: Sudden sounds and paper bags are his sworn enemies. Walk Enthusiast: 3–4 short walks a day? Yes please. Forced uphill jogs next to a bicycle? That’s gonna be a “nope.” Medical Note (Don’t Panic) Hammy has a heart murmur. Yep. He’s had it forever, he’s fine, and it doesn’t slow him down one bit—as long as you’re not trying to turn him into a marathoner. Think “daily neighborhood strolls” over “Canine CrossFit.” Basically, Hammy is more heartthrob than athlete, and we love him for it. Ideal Home Hammy is looking for a home with adults or calm older kids who don’t throw Nerf balls or leave crinkly bags lying around. He needs someone who’s home often—he gets separation anxiety and might do a few sad howls when you leave. (Let’s be real, you’ll feel worse than he does.) He’s the perfect coworker for remote work—always nearby, never on mute, occasionally sleeping on the job. Favorite Things About Hammy Will remind you to pet him if you stop. Repeatedly. Will strut in ridiculous dog outfits like he’s walking the Met Gala carpet. Will nap beside you with the grace of a Victorian poet recovering from heartbreak. Will boop your leg with his nose just to say “Hey. I’m cute. Don’t forget.” Hammy doesn’t fetch. He doesn’t do tricks. He doesn’t need to. He’s just Hammy—your perfect little emotional support ham with legs. Adopt him and discover the joy of a dog who will never let you feel alone again… even if you’re just going to the bathroom.June 11, 2025, 3:29 am

If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.     Adoption Fee: $650 Meet Pleather! 5 years old Dachshund Beagle (ish) mix   Pleather was surrendered to a Central Valley shelter with another dog when their owner passed away. Poor dude! Thankfully DPS was able to rescue him the next day, so he didn't have to spend too much time in a kennel. He was a bit nervous when he arrived - that's a lot of change in a short amount of time! - but has settled in beautifully and been a model foster dog!   Daily Routine: Pleather starts his day bright and early around 6 a.m. with a quick trip outside to the yard to take care of business — “Gotta pee! Gotta pee!” Afterward, he loves to cozy up next to Mom or Dad on the couch or hang out nearby in the kitchen. Breakfast comes around 7:15 a.m., followed by another potty break before settling in for some naps and lounging in various favorite spots around the house, like the front door rug or the couch. He enjoys two daily walks — one at 10 a.m. and another at 2 p.m. — perfect potty breaks and a chance to stretch his legs. Dinner is served at 6:30 p.m., followed by a final walk around 7 p.m. to wind down. By 7:30 or 8 p.m., Pleather curls up in his bed or sometimes on the couch for a peaceful night’s sleep.   Personality & Behavior: Pleather is a calm, mellow, and affectionate dog with a big heart. Initially reserved and a bit startled by new things, he has grown more playful and confident, especially in the mornings. He adores tummy rubs, petting, and cuddling up on the couch with his family. Pleather is a true Velcro dog — especially attached to Mom at first, but now he enjoys the company of Dad and all three kids (ages 13, 11, and 8). He’s quick to respond when called and loves meeting new children, warming up to them quickly for some love and attention.   Social Skills: Though he was used to living with another dog, Pleather is doing well as the only dog in his foster home. At the park, he’s curious and friendly toward other leashed dogs and shows no fear approaching them. He hasn’t interacted with cats yet but has been fantastic with kids in the household and visitors alike.   Play Style & Energy: Pleather is a chill, relaxed guy who enjoys his naps but also shows bursts of morning playfulness. He likes to “guard” the front door area from his comfy spot, keeping an eye on the household goings-on. His energy level is mellow — perfect for a family looking for a loving companion who’s not too demanding but enjoys some daily activity.   Training & Manners: Pleather walks well on a loose leash with only occasional pauses to sniff or decide to change direction. He’s mostly housetrained with a clear routine and occasional use of a pee pad when in his pen. Though not fully crate-trained, he’s learning to associate the crate with positive experiences. He rarely barks during the day but sometimes barks softly at night if he wakes up, seeking company — a behavior that has lessened over time.   Unique Traits & Quirks: Pleather is a big cuddler who loves to snuggle up and nap right next to his people. He seems to understand words and commands, showing excitement when hearing “dinner,” “come Pleather,” or “walk.” He even responds to “time to sleep” by going to his bed. A funny and adorable quirk: Pleather can sit up straight and smoothly scoot forward on his front paws, though no one’s quite sure why he does this!   He also has a surprising love for live classical music — curling up next to the piano or cello when the kids play, but not so much the violin.   Ideal Home: Pleather would thrive in a calm home where he can be a beloved companion to a family or even seniors looking for a mellow, affectionate dog. He enjoys outdoor time in a yard or park but is just as happy relaxing inside with his humans. His gentle nature and affectionate demeanor make him a wonderful fit for families with children or anyone wanting a loyal cuddle buddy.June 12, 2025, 4:38 am

If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $650 Like her name suggests, Bubble floats through life with playful energy and irresistible charm.     Bubble is a 4 month old Chiweenie puppy with a big heart, a smart mind, and a bounce in her step! Rescued from the Central Valley after being abandoned with her siblings, Bubble has blossomed into a joyful and energetic pup in her loving foster home. Her brothers and sisters have already found their forever families — now it's Bubble's turn.   When Bubble first arrived, she was shy and uncertain, especially around the men in her foster family and the resident dogs. But with patience and love, Bubble has made incredible progress. She now initiates play with the family dogs (a 15 lb. beagle and a 55 lb. hound!), follows them around the house, and greets her humans with excitement — especially the ladies of the house. She's even learning to trust the men, happily accepting treats and playing fetch with them.   Bubble’s days are full of puppy fun. She wakes up around 7:30 a.m. and starts the day with zoomies before breakfast — and often during breakfast, too! She loves to carry her kibble around while she plays, only to return and finish eating when she’s good and ready. Throughout the day, she alternates between playtime with the resident dogs, entertaining herself with squeaky toys (which she ADORES), and cozy naps in her x-pen. She has lunch around noon and dinner at 6:00 p.m., with plenty of outdoor potty breaks and play sessions in between. Bubble sleeps quietly in her pen at night and stays in a crate when her humans are away.   This smart little girl already knows how to sit for a treat, ring a bell to go outside, and play an enthusiastic game of fetch — often with the biggest ball she can carry! She’s housetrained to go potty outside or on pads, has had no accidents indoors, and is crate-trained. While she’s got typical puppy energy and is working through a bit of teething, she’s not destructive and hasn’t shown any interest in digging or chewing out of boredom.   Bubble would thrive in an active home with people who can keep up with her playful spirit. She’d love a canine playmate but would also do well as the center of attention. She hasn’t been around cats or kids yet, but with her affectionate nature, she may do well with a slow introduction and proper guidance.   What sets Bubble apart? Her resilience, her sweetness, and her hilarious personality — like the time she tried to howl with a ball in her mouth while playing fetch (spoiler: it was adorable). She’s a cuddle bug at heart and will happily snuggle in your lap after a good play session.   If you're looking for a clever, spirited, and affectionate companion who’s ready to keep you smiling, Bubble might just be your perfect match. Come meet her — she’s ready to bring joy, energy, and a whole lot of love into her forever home.June 11, 2025, 1:05 pm
