Story
Meet Cosmo Zephyr - The Sweetest Little Sidekick in Search of His Forever Home! Cosmo Zephyr, better known simply as Cosmo, is a 6–7-week-old bundle of joy who is ready to charm his way into the heart of a lucky adopter! This adorable Dachshund-mix pup has short legs, long body, and beautiful red Vizsla-like head and coloring that makes everyone he meets stop and smile. With a very soft medium coat and expressive little face, he turns heads everywhere he goes! Cosmo currently weighs just 5 pounds, making him an easy little companion to scoop up and cuddle. Cosmo is a playful, toy-loving, puppy who enjoys romping around with his “nanny,” a gentle 79 pound German Shepherd. He absolutely adores other dogs and greets new canine friends with enthusiasm. (He hasn’t been tested with cats yet.) He’s also wonderfully people-oriented. He loves adults, kids, and anyone willing to offer a cuddle, belly rub, or soft blanket to burrow into. Cosmo is especially fond of being wrapped up and carried around like the world’s cutest burrito! When the excitement settles, Cosmo becomes a cuddly little shadow. He’ll curl up at your feet while you work on the computer, snooze in your lap during TV time, and will happily sleep next to you at night. He does still wake up and need a potty break during the night, normal for a puppy his age, but he’s already learning to go potty outside and is doing well for such a young guy. He has the occasional indoor accident, but they’re tiny and easy to clean up. He even learned how to go up and down stairs at just five weeks old - smart boy! Cosmo is food-motivated and never misses a meal. He’s also very gentle, even though he’s in the puppy-biting stage, and responds well to redirection with toys or chew bones. He rides wonderfully in the car and will curl up on a blanket in the passenger seat and drift off to sleep. He’s quiet by nature and typically only makes noise when he needs something. Cosmo shows no signs of trauma or fear - just pure, happy puppy energy. With his current size and age, he will likely grow to around 30 pounds, making him a perfect medium-sized companion for almost any family. He gets a lot of attention everywhere he goes because of his unique looks, sweetheart personality, and gentle nature. Health & Care Notes: • Current on age-appropriate vaccines (will need additional puppy boosters) • Heartworm negative • Will need to be neutered when old enough • No known health issues • Thrives with toys, stuffed animals, chew bones, and plenty of affection Cosmo is ready to bring joy, laughter, and snuggles to a forever family who will love him as much as he loves them. If you're looking for a playful, gentle, and irresistibly cute puppy who enjoys companionship and adventure, Cosmo might just be your perfect match. If you think Cosmo could be part of your family, we’d love to introduce you! Joey is the friendliest little greeter.  He never meets a stranger.  He is crate trained and working on fine tuning his house training.  He LOVES to go for walks.  He maybe 10, but shhhh dont tell him, he thinks he is 5.  He loves to burrow under blankets and keep your lap warm.  You can't ask for a better companion.  He gets along great with other dogs. *Joey is Bonded with his fur sister, Maggie.  They have a special bond and have been together for over 5 years.  They would love a home together.* Apply for consideration to adopt at www.ruffdogrescue.org  Please note, we receive a large number of applications. Story
We found Lucy at a shelter in 2016 and thought she was the cutest puppy there was. Her big ears and beautiful brown eyes made her an instant adoption. We have had her for about 9 years now and throughout those years she has been the sweetest girl to us and our Cat, Fifi. Even though she isn’t too fond of other dogs, she is the best with people. Right now our family is running into some major financial problems and I just can’t take care of her like I wish I could. She deserves the best, so we are hoping to find a calm home, preferably with no animals, that is willing to be there for her, and love her as much as we do.

Story
Got him as a puppy. He has been such an amazing dog. He absolutely loves cuddling and does not leave your side. He loves being loved. He walks great on a leash and loves to carry packages and mail back home. He is great with other dogs, at dog parks he’d rather be sitting next to you instead of playing with the rest of the dogs. We brought home our baby in August and he has been very protective of him but does not allow my husband, family, or friends around the baby. I hate to rehome him as I’ve had since he was a puppy but my husband is tired of being barked at every time he’s around the baby.

Story
I've been here before...yes three years ago I was adopted and I thoroughly enjoyed my person. Unfortunately she fell and broke her hip and couldn't take care of me any more. I'm not terribly sad, but I do miss having a person of my own. I prefer females, apparently men have not been nice to me in the past. If you know my breed you know I'm pretty strong headed. I get along with all my housemates, both girls and boys. I like to take walks, I walk pretty well on a leash. I love meal time, so be careful I don't get too large! I'm ready for that forever home....calling all dachshund lovers!

Story
Meet Tucker Sweet Tucker and his brother Archie were surrendered when his family fell on hard times. His mama was run over. He and his brother survived but were living outside. Once they were surrendered, the brothers were cleaned up, fed and put into foster care. They are thriving! Tucker may be shy of the camera but he’s an energetic, happy and healthy puppy. He and Archie play all day until they are spent, and only then is it time for a nap. Lol! Tucker is curious, playful, sweet and ready to find a loving family. We’re not sure what his breeds are but mom was small/ medium size. We are guessing maybe dachshund/beagle mix. Tucker isn’t growing a ton and may take after mom. If looking for an adorable three month old puppy to welcome to your family, Tucker and Archie are a bonded pair and will need to be adopted together. Tucker and Archie are pretty cute! Get your application in! If interested in welcoming Tucker and Archie to your heart and home, please submit an application online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Once you’re on our home page, you can click on “How To Adopt” to pull up the dog application form. Please email our shelter (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) or call our shelter at 706-865-4135 and leave a message to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
