Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $400 plus taxWalter is a goofy and cuddly guy who wants to be near his people. He loves laying in the sun, going on walks, treats & toys and being under the covers.    Walter needs a fully fenced yard as he can be quite the escape artist. He likes to run for short bursts in the yard and find smells to roll in.  Walter gets along with his two resident dogs, but is still learning polite greetings with new dogs.   Walter is very curious, and needs someone who can be patient and reassure him. He is still working on leash training and is currently demonstrating some reactivity with other dogs. Based on the fosters observations we beleive that Walter may be hard of hearing.   Walter is left home with the resident dogs for a few hours at a time. He is known to be a snoop and counter surfer, so he is put in a room with our resident dog. He will settle when left with a doggy friend.    Walter picks up on patterns and routines quickly. He is not a quiet boy and will express his needs.   At this time, we do not how Walter does with kids or cats. Walter tends to be curious, cautious and skittish around new animals and meeting people outside the home.    Currently we are working on basic obedience and leash etiquette. Walter seems to have some reduced hearing and vision. We suspect it's genetic/congenital. He does not seem to be in any pain from it and we are working with MARS Vet to keep tabs on it. If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. We accept Credit cards, Debit cards as well as cash. At this time we do not accept checks.   Our Adoption fees for all animals cover required vetting: which includes, Rabies, Distemper Vaccine Series, Bordetella, Deworming, Heartworm Test as age appropriate, Spay or Neuter and Microchip and registration. Adoption Fees are Non Negotialble. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history. //

My name is Betsy, and I’m a very special pup with a heart full of love. I was born almost completely blind, but that doesn’t stop me from living life to the fullest! At first, I can be a little timid with new people, but once I recognize your voice and your scent, I’ll become your most loyal friend. My blindness doesn’t hold me back—in fact, I can be quite the little stinker! You’d be amazed at the things I manage to find. I love to collect toys and hoard them in my room—it’s kind of my thing! Living with a blind dog is a bit different, but not difficult. I can get startled easily, so I need you to tell me what you’re doing—like when you’re about to pet or pick me up. I’m learning to go potty outside (it’s a work in progress), but I do great with puppy pads. I've already learned the layout of my foster home and can zoom around like a little speed demon! I can be a bit bossy with my foster dog sibling, but we play so well together—and I adore the cat, too! I would do best in a home with a securely fenced yard and another friendly dog to show me the ropes and help me feel safe. My foster family had to “baby-proof” the house for me a bit, which helped a lot. I think I’d do well with older, respectful children who can understand my special needs and learn how to interact with me gently. I already know a few basic commands like “no,” “stay,” and “drop it.” I love to play with toys—especially hiding them—and I rely on my excellent sense of smell and hearing to explore the world around me. I can get nervous when other dogs bark because I can't tell what’s going on, but a calm, reassuring home would help me thrive. I may require a little extra care, but I promise I’m worth it. I’m sweet, beautiful, and bursting with love to give. If you open your heart to me, I’ll fill your life with joy, loyalty, and a whole lot of tail wags. Adoption Fee: $695

Rosie is 4 years old and house and leash trained. She is up to date on shots and fixed. She would do best as an only dog and my advice is no children. She like to sleep under the covers and love to ride in the car. If you would like to know more or want to adopt her please call Dorenda at 256-608-1242.

Story
Located in Tennessee but can be transported to you through Rescue Riders. This girl was brought in with babies when her owner couldn't take care of her. She was not socialized very well so will need some work. She will need a very patient person to get her to come out of her shell. She was kept outside so she has no house manners, nor has she been with cats. She does do well with dogs her size and seems to like to play with them. She deserves a new chance to be a loved dog and companion. She will take a lot of time and investment but deserves a chance!

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Introducing Maverick, the 10-month-old Dachshund puppy who is—quite literally—a tiny, wiggly miracle being imported straight from a faraway land to the frozen tundra of Minnesota. Why? Because Minnesota needs him. Humanity needs him. And frankly, his cuteness levels should be declared an essential public service. Picture this: a happy, silly, wiener-shaped ray of sunshine who wiggles like a caffeinated earthworm and smiles like he knows he’s the main character. Maverick is that guy. A little sausage with big dreams. A walking giggle. A pocket-sized comedian ready to melt the snow off a whole Midwestern winter. This boy isn’t just cute—he’s dangerously cute. Your heart? Gone. Your lap? Permanently occupied. Your bed? Now legally his. (Don’t fight it.) He will lighten your life like a lightning bug on steroids—zooming, glowing, wobbling, and wiggling his way right into your soul. Maverick is a seasoned expert in the following disciplines: Lap Sitting Until Legs Fall Asleep Bed Cuddling at Maximum Snuggle Density Worm-Wiggling Olympic Freestyle Looking Adorable Instead of Apologizing He’s happy, he’s silly, he’s loving, and he’s on a very serious mission to find his family and stay with them forever.
