You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $400 plus taxWalter is a goofy and cuddly guy who wants to be near his people. He loves laying in the sun, going on walks, treats & toys and being under the covers.    Walter needs a fully fenced yard as he can be quite the escape artist. He likes to run for short bursts in the yard and find smells to roll in.  Walter gets along with his two resident dogs, but is still learning polite greetings with new dogs.   Walter is very curious, and needs someone who can be patient and reassure him. He is still working on leash training and is currently demonstrating some reactivity with other dogs. Based on the fosters observations we beleive that Walter may be hard of hearing.   Walter is left home with the resident dogs for a few hours at a time. He is known to be a snoop and counter surfer, so he is put in a room with our resident dog. He will settle when left with a doggy friend.    Walter picks up on patterns and routines quickly. He is not a quiet boy and will express his needs.   At this time, we do not how Walter does with kids or cats. Walter tends to be curious, cautious and skittish around new animals and meeting people outside the home.    Currently we are working on basic obedience and leash etiquette. Walter seems to have some reduced hearing and vision. We suspect it's genetic/congenital. He does not seem to be in any pain from it and we are working with MARS Vet to keep tabs on it. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $300 plus taxRowe, also known as Frank, is a wonderfully polite and sweet gentleman. He is very well-mannered in the home and quickly adapted to his surroundings. When he first arrived, he was curious about the scents of other dogs and showed some initial interest in marking, but he was easily redirected without any issues. While the kennel isn't his favorite place, he handles it well, settling down within 10-15 minutes. His true happiness comes from spending time with his humans—whether cuddling on a lap or snuggling under the covers. He walks nicely on a leash and would be a great companion for a leisurely walker. Frank recently had some dental work and is missing a few teeth, but he still eats dry kibble and enjoys softer foods. He is generally quiet, only occasionally barking when joining in with the excitement of other dogs. He gets along well with other dogs, though he appreciates having his personal space respected and will give a gentle warning growl if needed. His behavior around cats is unknown. Frank would thrive in a home where someone is often present to provide the love and lap snuggles he adores. He also seems to respond well to the name Frank and would make a loving and loyal companion!   If you have previously applied with us please email placement@midwestanimalrescue.org to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. Story
Libby is a sweet 2 1/2 year old Dachshund mix. She does very well with multiple dogs in the home (all sizes).   She is treat motivated and in the process of house training.   Settles down at night nicely.  Skiddish at sudden movement.  Does not liked to be surprised with a hug or extending out arms.  Rides nice and quiet in car.  Does not like leashing.    Has a loud bark and would not recommend for shared walls.  A big lap dog once she warms up.  Slow to warmup but when she does she’s a love bug. Lots of energy and she would need regular exercise to help get her energy out    She is learning how to be a dog as she came from hoarding situation in Arkansas.  A very pretty girl who doesn't like the cold and refuses peeing outside in the cold.     She currently has a case of mange but it’s being taken care of by medicated baths and Credilio.   In time either patience and training she will be great member of family.  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Mary is a sweet and snuggly dachshund mix.  In our house we call her Tootsie Roll. She is estimated to be about 3.5 years old and has had puppies.  She loves to play with other dogs.  She is a huge snuggler and loves to cuddle up with you on the couch.  She enjoys running around the backyard and exploring.  We have taken her on walks and she does well on the leash and enjoys going on a walk.  She is pretty much potty trained but you do need to let her out quite often and watch for her signals.  She likes her kennel and dog bed.  She will go into her kennel during the day and lay down.  She sleeps all night in her kennel  Mary is very food motivated.  We have been working on telling her down, and out, when we are in the kitchen.  She gets along well with other dogs and plays well with them.  She is curious about the cat and will sniff her and try to play with her.  She plays with some toys but really likes being with her people.  She will bark occasionally if our other dog is barking or she's excited someone is home.  Mary is just a lovebug that wants to be with her humans and snuggle. She is smart and eager to learn.   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Hi everypawdy. The name is Oscar. Oscar Mayer Wiener to be exact. 🌭 I am 1 year old and weigh 12 lbs. I am such a sweet boy. I get along with dogs of all sizes but prefer the small ones. I need a doggy friend in my home who is very well rounded, good with humans and animals, and most importantly LOVES to cuddle with me. Ideally my cuddle buddy is small like me too! I get along with all humans too. I’m still learning hands reaching for me are a good thing so you’ll have to be patient with me. As I learn to trust you, I’ll stop and let you pick me up. But I am a flight risk and door dasher. I will need a securely fenced yard because of this. I am also working on my leash skills. I don’t have it nailed down yet so I wouldn’t say I’m leash trained but I’m working really hard and making progress. I’m potty trained on a schedule. I am not a fan of being locked in a crate, although I do enjoy taking naps in them with my foster sibling. When you have to leave the house, I do best when left free with my foster sibling in a dog safe room. If you are gone too long, I know to use my potty pad that’s in my doggy room. I do get very excited for meal time and I might bark or whine at you to hurry up with my food. But other than that, I’m a pretty quiet guy. I’m enjoying starting to play with toys. I love the crinkly ones and squeaky ones. So much fun squeaking a squeaker and playing fetch! I enjoy all treats which helps me work on my training because I’m really food motivated. I like bully sticks, yak chews, beef trachea, kongs, and lick mats. You name it, I’ll probably love it. I do well in the car when I ride in my doggy hammock with a doggy friend and with a seatbelt to keep me secure. If I ride in a crate I get car sick a lot easier and it gives me more anxiety. I do great for bath time. I LOVE to cuddle. I will snuggle next to you or on your lap when we are on the couch and I will cuddle you all night long in bed and I’ll probably sneak in some kisses too. I love soft cozy blankets to snuggle into. If you can be patient, gentle, and loving with me, I will continue to blossom into such an amazing dog. You won’t be disappointed. Oh one last note, you might be wondering why my hair isn't grown in perfectly. After many vet appointments, tests and treatments, my dermatologist vet believes I have ischemic dermatopathy/vasculitis. This is a non-contagious condition and it doesn't bother me one bit. I'm currently on some medication to see if it will help my hair grow back but only time will tell. For now, I hope you love me just the way I am. **due to being a flight risk, Oscar Mayer will need to stay within 60 miles of the Twin Cities metro area**

Story
Hello, My name is Lola! I am a sweet boxer/ dachshund mix. I am approx. 3 years old and weigh about 25-30 lbs. I am very good with kids of all ages and has never met a stranger. I like other non- reactive dogs. I have not met a cat at this time. However my rescue can cat test upon request! I am also housebroken but cannot be left out of my crate when no one is home because I will chew anything and everything in sight. I am currently eating Purina one but I also love boiled chicken, peas, or sweet potatoes. I do pull on my leash when walked, but, we are working on that. I cant wait to find my forever home! If you have a fenced in yard, that would be awesome because I need a lot of play time! I also love to play with toys! My rescue has made sure that I am UTD, microchipped, on a flea and tick and heartworm pill and spayed. Please reach out if you are interested. Thank you! This animal is being fostered in the South but transport to a location near you is included in your adoption fee. Story
FosterPenny is a sweet and gentle lady. She is a ten year old, 15 pound dachshund mix. She came to Charming Pet Rescue after her human passed away. She arrived at the rescue with her two sisters, one brother, and two cats. She was quickly picked up by one of our foster families with her brother, Jack. Penny is still mourning the loss of her owner. She is gentle but is still not comfortable enough to come to her foster family when called. However, when the family sits on the couch to watch TV, she quickly jumps up and likes to sit next to you and her brother, Jack. She does allow you to pet her and rub her ears once she is comfortable next to you. She will also come to you if you offer her a treat and will eat it out of your hand. Penny will need time for you to gain her trust but she is making progress every day. Penny is house trained and has gone outside, but due to the stress of a new environment, she has had a few accidents in the home, usually on the pee pads. Penny sleeps well in her crate and gets along well with her brother and the two other dogs in the foster house. Penny has a cataract in her right eye but she seems to deal with it in stride and has no problem doing doggie things. She received dental work this week and is fully vetted.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Squirt and Squish are two charming Dachshund brothers who bring double the love and personality. While they aren’t technically a bonded pair, these boys have been together their entire lives, and Underdog would love to see them find a forever home together.   Squirt   is a blind adventurer who doesn’t let his lack of sight slow him down one bit. This resilient pup has mastered the art of communicating with his humans. Need something? Squirt will let you know. Got it wrong? He’ll let you know that, too! He’s full of spirit and determination, proving every day that life is for living, no matter what.   Squish  , on the other hand, is your classic playful Dachshund with an adorable attitude to match. He loves to play, explore, and charm everyone he meets with his spunky personality. He’s a little comedian with a tail wag that never quits!   Together, these boys enjoy the finer things in life: playing, snuggling, eating dinner, and perfecting the art of being lazy. They balance each other out beautifully—Squirt’s tenacity and Squish’s playful spirit make them the perfect pair to brighten your days.   If you’re ready to open your heart and home to this delightful duo, you’ll be rewarded with endless love, laughter, and snuggles. Squirt and Squish are ready to bring their u Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up.
