Meet Lucita! Or as her fosters call her Lucy/Lucy Lou/Potato Lucita made the trip to Minnesota from Mexico in March 2026 after being found with milk but no puppies. At 3 years old, Lucita is a sturdy 27 lb "daschund mix" who prefers to spin through life- she's fully capable of walking straight she just prefers to spin. The more comfortable and relaxed she is the less she spins. Speaking of preferences- Lucita prefers humans over other animal companions. In her foster home she peacefully co-exists with 2 dogs and 3 cats- she would be fine joining a household with other animals but is unlikely to be a playmate. She tends to go into "mommy mode" and be the fun police when other dogs are playing. Another quirk of Lucitas is her underbite- because of the way her teeth lined up it was necessary to remove 17 teeth. She is still able to eat kibble and treats now that she is fully healed- though she does love wet food...or really all food..she's not picky! Lucita is perfectly content to curl up on the couch with you or in your bed but she will also accompany you on walks. She is semi-potty trained- as long as you stick to a routine accidents are minimal, though with focused attention she can definitely be fully potty trained. She quiets down in her kennel and rides well in a car. Lucita excels at telling you when you aren't giving her enough attention- she will stare at you and give a little whine. When playtime hits she can get a little spunky and will do adorable hops and pounce on toys- she can get a little mouthy so older children are recommended although with no teeth in front now she mainly gums you. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Alfred, or “Alfie” for short, is a sweet chi mix whose little life didn’t get off to a great start and is still working on trusting his surroundings. He loves to play with other dogs his own size and after a good romp will curl up in the same bed for naptime together. While he is wary of new people, he is quickly learning that belly pets are kind of a great thing. He has even learned that if he climbs the pet steps it leads to the foster’s comfy bed where he can snuggle right in! Due to his skittish temperament, it is recommended Alfie be placed in a home with children over the age of 10. Also, because of his deep connection with other dogs, Alfie NEEDS to be placed in a household with another canine friend. A few facts about Alfie: His favorite game is tug. Bring it on! He LOVES to snuggle….with other dogs and in cozy places. We think with time and patience, he will actually be a real snuggle bug! Alfie comes to you housetrained. No accidents! He will bark when excited but is not overly vocal. While he isn’t afraid of a kennel, he is not considered kennel trained. Alfie has not been cat tested and his prey drive is unknown. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption. Welcome Mutz to CCPAL Rescue. Mutz is a 3-year-old Daug (Dachshund /Pug). He weighs about 12 pounds and is full grown and a nice weight. This dog came from the hoarder or overabundance of dog situation. He has an adorable underbit and has really blossomed at the Rescue. He is a quieter dog and has learned to like to be held. He is definitely a lap companion. He is playful with other dogs and has the sturdy body of the Pug. He would love to be a companion for a person that is retired, partially retired or maybe someone with a household that wants a dog with a lower energy to join in. He would be ok with a smaller condo size yard. He is learning leash manners and getting used to commotion of the Rescue. He hasn’t experienced a lot of different things so he isn’t sure yet but he is really really nice. He is not a big shedding dog. He is fine with nail trims and baths and will make some lucky family a great companion. I would say anyone moderately active would be fine for this dog. He bonds deeply and he warms up with affection nicely. He would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is getting vaccinations, neutered and he will be ready for his forever home soon. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Welcome Draco to CCPAL foster program. Draco is a 3 year old 7 month old Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund). He weighs about 9 pounds. He is very social and loves cuddles. He loves the good Samaritan that found him on the streets in the Texas snow storm. Draco is great with other dogs and we think his best home would be with another playful dog or a person that is home and would love to play ball, walk and cuddle Draco. He doesn’t dig or tear up anything in the house and he does his business outside. He will use a potty pad if it is too long for him to hold. He is an opportunist when a gate or door is open and will take that opportunity. He will stay behind a baby gate if there is one and his foster is also going to introduce him to a crate. Right now he is allowed partial free roam while she is away at work. He is super social and loving so he would be fine around children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is neutered, microchipped and will have all vaccines topped up before he leaves the Rescue. He likes strangers but will bark if someone is at the door. He is lower on the shed scale but he does shed. His arms curl around your hands when you pick him up. He really likes being held. Hershey was surrendered when her owner had to move and could not take her along. Hershey is calm, quiet, and very low maintenance. She keeps her kennel clean and is happiest parked on a soft bed or right in your lap. She is definitely a lap dog! She loves playing with her squeaky ball and her stuffed Lamb Chop toy. She does not go looking for entertainment and is content just being near her person and relaxing.She can be a little shy in new environments and does not enjoy a lot of commotion. She may get nippy if someone tries to pick her up, so she needs a home that respects her space and lets her come to people on her own terms. Once she settles in, she is affectionate and will happily become your shadow.Hershey is leash trained, crate trained, and potty trained. She is very skittish outside and will need slow, patient introductions to new outdoor environments. She also really dislikes wearing a halter when outside, so her future home should be prepared to work with her gently and help build her confidence over time.Hershey loves treats and will always show up when food is involved. She would do best on a structured diet to help her get to a healthier weight. She can be protective of her food and toys. She is currently learning to play fetch — she enthusiastically chases after the ball but has not quite figured out bringing it back yet! She also enjoys sitting by the patio door and barking at bunnies and squirrels.She does not need another dog and is perfectly fine on her own. She has lived with kids before, but she would do best in a calm, low-traffic home without a lot going on. Hershey is an easy companion for someone looking for a quiet, steady presence and a dedicated lap dog.
