Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello, I'm Geoffrey.   If you choose me to live in your home, I promise that your lap will never be empty. I will entertain you with my playful nature be it with  toys, bones or with familiar small dog pals. I’m a very good boy sleeping all night in my crate and doing my business outside.  I  enjoy walks, happily trotting along on my leash, smelling everything. I'm from Texas and have been in a few foster homes.  I’m proud to say that I warm up quickly to my fosters especially when they give me hotdogs.  However, everyone wants to introduce me to new people, and I’m just so scared, I act out.   You see, I wasn’t socialized during the pandemic. I’m in desensitization training and I’m trying to overcome my fear of strangers.  Because I’m still learning, a shared wall residence would not be a good fit.   I promise to bring plenty of love and companionship to the right home. With patience and understanding, I'm confident that I will learn to tolerate people.  Thank you for taking the time to get to know me, and I look forward to the possibility of becoming a cherished member of your family. Geoffrey is from Texas. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Introducing PennyKae! Penny's journey began when she was found abandoned in a crate in a park in Texas. She was covered in fleas and clearly had recently had puppies. Despite her rough start, Penny's a smart cookie who loves nothing more than playing with her toys. Let's talk toys – Penny is absolutely obsessed with them. She'll gather up every toy she can find and stash them in her crate or her designated area, claiming them as her own. She can be a bit of a toy hog and doesn't like having them taken away, which her foster family is working with her on. While she's not a fan of sharing her toys, Penny does get along fine with other animals, as long as they respect her boundaries. Penny's a loving and affectionate pup who's always ready for snuggles, but she can be cautious around strangers. It is important to have slow introductions to new people and allow her to feel comfortable on her own time. Her daily routine revolves around toy hunting and playtime, with meals and potty breaks sprinkled in between. She's a quiet sleeper who's content to snooze in her crate until it's time to start the day. Penny has a playful personality and affectionate nature. If you're looking for a loyal companion who'll keep you entertained with her toy antics and shower you with love, PennyKae might just be the perfect match for you. So, if you're ready to open your heart and home to this delightful pup, Penny's waiting to meet you! Penny currently lives with large and small dogs and adults. She has not been introduced to cats. Due to her resource guarding of toys, small children may not be a good fit for her at this time.   PennyKae is from Texas.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Introducing Macy who is being fostered in rural MN after her trip up from Texas! She's a bundle of energy, always ready for playtime and loves to chew on her toys. Her bark has a distinct, deep tone. While Macy gets along fine with our cats, her constant puppy enthusiasm sometimes overwhelms them, leading to playful interactions that might be a bit too much for them. Despite that, Macy remains fantastic with other dogs, adults, and children. I'm cautious around toddlers (and kittens) because of her high energy playfulness, but she's never aggressive. She's got a variety of chew toys, including a Kong stuffed with treats and peanut butter, and she adores playing fetch with her toys. Not only is Macy leash trained and crate trained, but she also likes to go for car rides. If you're searching for a little bundle of love to brighten your days, look no further than Macy. This happy-go-lucky girl is ready to shower her new family with endless love and companionship. Come meet Macy today and discover the joy of having her by your side! Macy is from Texas. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   Roxy & Penny are bonded 10 year old mini dachshunds who are needing a new home, due to the death of their owner. They have a few years on them, but that just makes them more interesting! Penny is the brains of this dynamic duo and Roxy is the beauty, with her blonde, flowing mane. The ladies like a good meal and Penny can hear the musical tones of spoons clinking on stainless dishes faster than anyone!  The gals love going for walks - Roxy will occasionally break into a light jog, so be prepared to keep up with the little speed demon.   They both do well with outside potties now that they have a routine. They go out every 3-4 hours during the day and no accidents at night (approx 7-8 hours). They have a small enclosed gated area at their foster home, with fluffy beds and fleece blankets to burrow under. Roxy and Penny enjoy their naps too of course! They come and go as they please from their gated area, and sometimes Penny wants to be the adventurer and look for goodies (any kind of food item) while Roxy goes looking for a lap to curl up and take a little nap.   Roxy & Penny's other h obbies include snuffle mat searches for delectable tidbits, peanut butter licking contests, blankie hide and seek, and king of the mountain.  Penny always wins king of the mountain since her favorite spot is sitting directly under her fosters chin. Roxy has a cataract in her left eye and Penny has dry eye on her right eye.  They are very good about putting on their fleece vests to go outside.   These little ladies have a lot of personality and love to give. They have done well with the resident senior dogs, so we would recommend similarly aged dog(s) as housemates. They have had no issues with kids, especially since these ladies are “ever hopeful, under foot”.  Interested in adopting? He is very intelligent, very cuddly, very affectionate, and has a little bit of a stubborn streak!  It takes Dax a while to warm up to people but when he is comfortable he shows his LOVE. He tends to get very attached to one human in a family, but is OK with all. He likes to explore outside in the yard, loves to play with toys, and chew on bones. He is literally attached to you if sitting on the couch. One of his favorite places to relax is a cat scoop (see picture)! He does great with other smaller dogs and cats. He hasn't been leash trained yet but it should not be an issue due to his intelligence. He is potty trained on a schedule. Dax needs another dog, preferably smaller, in the home to help him gain confidence and would do better in a quiet household with no children. He prefers women to men. If you love small, cuddly, long littles, he is the perfect companion for you. If you are a Dachshund lover, he is PERFECT. Anyone would be lucky to have Dax in their lives. He is a gentle soul with so much love to give.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.INTERESTED IN MEETING ME? Apply on our website ( https://www.healingheartsrescue.org/adopt )  to  set up a private meeting or check below for my adoption event schedule.   Age: Approximately 1 year old Weight: 15 lbs Dog friendly: Yes, needs another dog in the home Cat friendly: unknown Kid friendly: Yes Potty trained: Yes  Crate trained: Yes Hi, my name is Ezra!  I’m just about the sweetest, cuddliest boy you’ll ever meet. I'm about a year old, so I've got a perfect combination of fun puppy energy and well-behaved maturity. I've mastered potty training and I quickly learned the rules and routine of my new foster home. In fact, I don't even need to be kenneled when left alone anymore (though I don't mind it as long as I have another dog buddy in the crate with me). At night, I love sleeping in bed with my foster parents and am a great sleeper. I am learning how to go for walks and I am loving it. I came to the rescue with a best friend who has been adopted, and I'm feeling pretty lonely now. So, I'm looking for a home with another playful small dog to cuddle and play with. My foster mom says I'm so laid back - I like all people, like to be brushed, let her touch my face, toes, etc... Nothing really bugs me (except big scary dogs). If you're looking for a super smart, well-behaved, laidback dog to snuggle with, I am definitely your guy!
