Story
This adorable Wire-haired Dachshund is 5 years old and has the cutest whiskers and eyebrows ever going.  He is a calm and easy going 24 pounds boy that could stand to go on a reasonable diet and lots of daily walks during the week to slim down to a great weight for his long Dachshund body.  This boy is named Grins and he just lost his home because his senior mom entered a nursing home on Wednesday 5/27.  All that he needs in life right now is a new family/owner who will love getting up every morning to see his sweet happy face and to take him several times a day on a good walking/exercise program to trim down his extra pounds and get him to a good 20 pound body weight.  Less pounds means more good life for a Dachshund and Grins is at his prime time to change his food intake to higher quality.  He really needs to get out and see the world from the end of a leash!   His former mom has been bedridden for over 3 years and he has not been taken on walks in all the time. Now Critter Cavalry Rescue is taking him in to their foster program.  Grins might do best as the only dog in his new home.  He has a tendency to be bossy with other dogs sometimes.  It could be managed if he has a strong owner who knows how to be the boss in the house and not let Grins run the show.  He is in a foster now that has cats and he does great with them!.He is housebroken and knows what a pee pad is just in case you need that extra time away.  He is crate trained and does so well on a leash too!   Snickers is resilient, happy to go wherever  you take him and is adjusting to all the new sights, sounds and people in his life.  We would love a Dachshund lover who is experienced with the breed to give Grins a soft bed and a big heart filled with love as his next forever place.  If you are interested, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com    When inquiring please tell us where you live!!!        PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJune 7, 2026, 3:11 pm

Story
A beautiful, unique brindled 6 year old low rider, Addie is a sweet, sensitive, loveable, affectionate, mellow and somewhat shy pup who has had a rocky start. She is now looking for a peaceful and calm place to begin anew with someone who loves her. Addie has good leash manners while harnessed which makes her a pleasure to walk. She is housetrained and will sleep quietly in her own space all night. Addie gets along well with other dogs, but can be a bit timid around new people initially. Once she knows you, it's all tail wags and face licks. She rides nicely in the car and hops in and out of the back seat easily. She settles quickly once she knows she's in a safe environment and will give you years of delightful devoted companionship. Addie will do best in a home without young children, but she'd thrive with older kids or adults who appreciate a lovable companion. She will be a wonderful companion with you in your peaceful and predictable home. Be sure to complete an application on line and come to our Meet & Greet Saturday 11:30-1:30. If you are interested in this dog, please submit an application directly to our website at www.ny-petrescue.org. Only applications submitted directly to Petrescue will be considered.

Story
Hi, my name is Emmett. A studious name for a very smart boy. I’m an 8 year old Dachshund that takes his job very seriously. I am a professional lap warmer. That’s right, 13 pounds of warm love on your lap, near your lap, at your feet, you name it- I’m available to provide it all. And lucky for you, I charge no fee! Free lap loving! What gets better than that? All I ask in return is a warm bed and soft food. See, I lost most of my teeth after being neglected so it’s only soft food for me from here on out. No problem there, I love it all. I also need eye drops, but they don’t bother me one bit. My brother Tango and I recently went through a tough time being abandoned by our family. But we’re bouncing back. In fact, we barely missed a step! I love meeting new people and just want to show them what love is all about. I walk well on leash and whenever you’re ready to go out on the town, I’m ready. I also enjoy being around other dogs so if you want to meet up with some doggie friends, I’d be happy to join.If you love a lap dog with some little mini legs and a BIG heart, come meet me!! Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. Story
This scrumptious 8 pound 8 year old love muffin Dachsund is looking for his happy ever after. If you are looking to fill your dance card then Tango is the dog for you! Tango and his brother Emmett came to us from a local abandonment case. He was loved his whole life but when their family moved they left them behind in a dark basement without food or water. But Tango is a fighter. Despite everything this dear little chap has been through, he is still overflowing with trust, love and devotion. He will look at you like you are the sun, the moon and the stars because to him, you are. Just one week into foster and he is already gaining weight, his coat is growing back in and he’s ready to live his best life. He’s great with every living thing, including but not limited to: people, dogs, cats, and gentle kids. Whilst his name is Tango he also does a very impressive Quick Step when he sees you reach for his leash, he LOVES his walks, and when it’s dinner time his excited little paws do a very good impression of Lord of the Dance! He needs eye drops twice a day which he takes like a champ, and he might be toothless and gummy but he sure loves his yummies and soft food. He is a low maintenance boy, just feed him, walk him, snuggle him, repeat. Tango is a precious little guy just looking for his forever snuggle buddy, if you think that could be you, the line forms to the left…. Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). Story
Meet Lola! This very sweet and spunky girl is very skittish and distrustful with new people, but has really blossomed in her foster home. We believe she is a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix and has many personality traits that we think will appeal to the Chihuahua people out there. This girl is not only beautiful, but is also housebroken, crate trained and knows several commands. She'd also be perfect for those hot summer months and cold winter months, since though she loves to be outside, she's not super fond of lengthy walks. Once she chooses her person and bonds she's silly, playful, cuddly and loyal, the perfect work from home companion who loves to sit on your lap and help with whatever you are doing. She's not a fan of other animals, children, or strangers especially men although she's been able to make friends with them if they ignore her at first and offer lots of yummy treats- intros have to be slow and on her terms. If you like quirky but lovable little dogs, please submit an application to meet her. Primary Color: Tan Age: 2yrs 9mths 1wks
