Story
Meet Birdie - a little soul with a big heart who's ready to trade the uncertainty of her past for the comfort of a forever home.Birdie was found alone in the woods with no known history, but despite her rough start, she has blossomed into one of the sweetest, most affectionate companions you could hope for. This gentle 8‑year‑old cuddlebug has spent time in foster care, where she's shown just how special she truly is. She's resilient, loving, and so eager to finally feel safe.🌟 Personality- Walk enthusiast: Birdie lights up the moment she knows it's time for a stroll. She enjoys exploring at her own pace and isn't bothered by traffic or everyday noises.- Couch potato at heart: After her adventures, she's all about curling up beside you-or right on top of you-for long, peaceful naps.- Champion snuggler: Belly rubs and couch cuddles are her love language.- A talker: She "chats" in soft grumbles and playful little sounds that make her personality shine.- Calm and easygoing: She doesn't shed (much), hasn't shown us any signs of resource guarding, and loves stuffies and Kong toys.- Dog‑selective: She may bark at other dogs on walks, but she's easily redirected with treats. What a smart lady!💛 What She's Looking ForBirdie would thrive in a calm, loving home where she can enjoy a balance of outdoor time and indoor relaxation. She doesn't need a highly active lifestyle-just a few short walks a day and plenty of cuddle time. She does experience some separation anxiety, but with patience, consistency, and a predictable routine, she's already showing progress. If you're looking for a low‑key best friend who will walk with you, nap with you, "talk" to you, and fill your home with warmth, Birdie might just be your perfect match Primary Color: Black Weight: 38.7 Age: 6yrs 1mths 2wks

Meet Susie - A Sweet Soul Ready for a Fresh StartSusie hasn't had the easiest journey. Her life so far has been marked by change and uncertainty, without the consistency and security every dog deserves. But despite it all, she's never lost her gentle spirit and loving heart. This beautiful girl is eager to please and absolutely adores being around people. Whether it's snuggling on the couch, following you from room to room, or simply sitting nearby, Susie is happiest when she's with her humans. She craves connection and thrives on attention-she just wants to love and be loved in return. Susie also really loves going for rides in the car, and loves going for hikes. She would be thrilled to have an active owner who can take her on adventures. Susie does have some allergies, so she's on a strict hypoallergenic diet to help keep her healthy and comfortable. Story
Chester is an approximately one‑year‑old pit bull-boxer mix with a heart as big as his goofy grin. Found as a stray, his past is a mystery, but his personality shines through. Chester is a sweet, bouncy boy who's eager to learn and even more eager to love. Chester is a strong, large‑breed dog who will benefit from continued work on his basic manners and leash skills, and he'd thrive with guidance from an AnimalKind trainer. He's very smart, food‑motivated, and always ready to please. Chester proudly considers himself a lap dog and won't hear any objections about his sizeable bum settling in for a cuddle. He seems enthusiastic about meeting other dogs and may enjoy a canine sibling, though his feelings about cats are still unknown. Because of his unknown history and energetic nature, Chester would do best with a secure, fenced property and plenty of opportunities to burn off steam. He's a wonderful young dog with tons of potential and is ready to bring joy-and a bit of silliness-into the right home.Chester is currently only available for foster-to-adopt local to the South Okanagan area as he awaits his neuter surgery. Primary Color: Charcoal Secondary Color: White Weight: 36.5 Age: 1yrs 0mths 2wks

Meet Lizzie - the sweetest snuggle‑loving queen around!Lizzie is a gentle, joyful girl who's ready to fill someone's life with warmth, playfulness, and endless affection. She adores her humans and would happily spend her days snuggled up beside you, going for walks, or enjoying a tasty treat (or two... or three). If coziness were a sport, Lizzie would take home the gold. This lovely lady prefers to be the star of the show, so she's looking for a home where she can be the only dog. She's not interested in sharing her humans - and honestly, once you meet her, you won't want to share her either.Lizzie is also a fantastic travel buddy. She rides beautifully in the car and is always excited for an outing, whether it's a neighbourhood stroll or a comfy adventure to her favourite cozy spot. She loves to play, loves to eat, and loves to be close to her people. If you're searching for a loyal companion who brings sweetness, fun, and a whole lot of heart, Lizzie is ready to be your girl. Story
Meet Nicholas: Nicholas and his siblings were abandoned at just a few days old and have since spent a great deal of time in a loving foster home. His foster said that "Nicholas will steal your heart (and your socks!)". He is the perfect blend of energetic adventurer and sweet cuddle bug. Whether he's chasing his favorite squeaky toy or curling up at your feet after a long play session, he just wants to be where the people are.Nicholas has shown some food resource guarding, specifically around his food bowl. While in our Centre, we have made good progress reducing this behaviour through consistent, positive training; however, it is important that an adopter is willing and able to continue this work at home, as the behaviour could return or worsen without reinforcement. This is especially important since Nicholas is expected to grow into a large dog, making unmanaged resource guarding more concerning. In the Centre, we address this by calmly interacting with his food during meals: adding high‑value treats to his bowl, briefly removing the bowl and replacing it with something better, or taking the bowl to add a treat before returning it. This is repeated several times per meal to help Nicholas learn that people near his food is a positive thing. The BC SPCA recommends working with an AnimalKind trainer if additional training support after adoption is desired.Due to his size and energy level, an active home without young children would set Nicholas up best for success. If you think Nicholas would be a good fit for your home, please come and meet him!Walk-ins are prioritized. We are open to walk in's Tuesday - Saturday 12 pm -4 pm (except for Stat Holidays). In order to prepare for your visit, you can submit a Pre-Adoption Questionnaire as well at;https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Primary Color: Black Weight: 12.78 Age: 0yrs 3mths 1wks

Story
Meet Surf, the Syrin:This sweet girl came from a home with over 30 dogs and is very fearful of new situations. She is very friendly and warms up quickly with treats and encouragement and is very food motivated. Surf lived with other dogs and seems to be social with other dogs which leads us to believe that she would love a resident canine companion. Surf will need the typical puppy training as she doesn't know what a leash is and is quite fearful of the leash. You will need to help her get over this fear with Animal Kind training and positive encouragement. This may take some time, but it will be a rewarding venture into a life of long walks and love for her family. She will also require house training as none of these dogs were exposed to home living. She looks to people she knows for comfort and is an absolute sweetheart.Surf also has abnormal knee joints. Her right knee has some developmental abnormalities, and the left knee looks to have been previously fractured and healed abnormally. Whoever adopts Surf will need to work closely with their veterinarian regarding a joint management strategy. Currently she has been prescribed Hills J/D Mobility food, ProFlex Joint Supplements once per day, and she will require Cartrephen injections once per week for 4 weeks, then once per month after. She should be kept mobile with short daily walk, but hiking and running is out as too much activity will be hard on her joints. If you are interested in this sweet girl, please come and meet her! Walk-ins are prioritized. We are open to walk in's Tuesday - Saturday 12 pm -4 pm (except for Stat Holidays). In order to prepare for your visit, you can submit a Pre-Adoption Questionnaire as well at;https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Primary Color: Red Weight: 17.68 Age: 0yrs 6mths 3wks
