Story
Hi my name is Apollo and I’m a purebred 23 month old Belgian Malinos and I’m true to my name, I’ love to chase the ball and play fetch I have had 6 weeks of professional training but need more work on my reactivity to humans. I don’t trust easily but once you have earned my trust I’m a loveable boy who loves to cuddle. I’m a great protector and I listen really good to my master. I live with other dogs and prefer a doggy mate. I am crate trained but am left loose in the house when my masters not home but must make sure everything that’s chewable is put away like the tv remote control . I also don’t like to be away from my master for very long so I would prefer someone who is home a lot with me. I wouldn’t do well in a home that’ has a lot of human traffic since I don’t trust easily. I do love walks and enjoy water. I MUST HAVE A A OWNER With EXPERIENCE OWNING A BELGIAN MALINOS BELGIAN MALINOS

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. My name is Shep and I am a Pitbull mix! I am a very happy boy that loves to play and snuggle. I am looking for my furever home and have been for awhile now because most people are scared of me. I am such a lovebug I just wish people would give me a chance and get to know me better! I love people and I have several doggy besties that I play with. I'm easy-going, fun, snuggly, and playful. I am not a destructive dog and I really only bark when it's time to eat or someone rings the doorbell. I love to go for walks and I listen to commands very well. If you think that you would like to meet me please inquire. I've been waiting for someone to love me furever and I hope that I don't have to wait much longer...Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.We encourage adopters from all over the Greater New England Area and will do our absolute best to accommodate you in arranging for transportation if you choose to adopt a dachshund from FDR. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Thor is a wonderfully, silly, happy, goofy boy! There is nothing about Thor that is unlikable; he thinks he's a lap dog so watch were you put your feet because he may just sit on them. He also can be protective so introductions should be supervised.  Upon arrival to his foster home, Thor was very shy and a little skittish until he warmed up to me. He was sad for awhile as well because he missed his family and needed time to adjust. We are looking for a furever home that has experience with the Mastiff breed. If you do not have previous experience please do not apply. Thor's personality is such that he needs to be part of a family. He is strictly an indoor dog and is not meant to be left in a yard; he can get destructive if left outside alone. He is the definition of a couch potato and has taken residence on my sectional. Please be aware that he drools (that's the breed) and so keeping your sofa covered is the best way to keep it clean. You can train him to stay on the floor but you need to provide him with a large enough bed for him to get his entire body onto, think human size. He is a great watch dog and will bark if someone comes close to the house.  He needs to be able to go to go outside and get some fresh air and run around a bit. Thor would love a companion dog to play with but he can be picky about his companion so introductions are necessary prior to adoption approval. He absolutely loves my little 10lb dachshund and they play very well together. Some larger dogs intimidate him; especially large black dogs. His current bestie is a 1 year old, male, pit-mix. He also eats about 4 cups of food a day which means he gets fed twice a day to prevent bloat, which this breed is particularly prone to. Overall, Thor is an amazing companion. He is very intelligent as well as extremely sensitive so shouting and loud noises scare him. He loves to go where you go and if he gets to ride in the car he will take up the entire back seat, lol! Please consider this goofy boy and give him a furever home. We are requiring that Thor's furever home have the following: ~A place in your home as an indoor dog so that he can socialize with family. ~An adopter with previous Mastiff experience.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.We encourage adopters from all over the Greater New England Area and will do our absolute best to accommodate you in arranging for transportation if you choose to adopt a dachshund from FDR. Story
Meet Malia Meet Malia - the sweetheart who's been patiently waiting for her forever family! This adorable 2.5-year-old girl is eager to bring joy and love into your home. Malia is a well-behaved pup who walks like a pro on leash and knows her basic commands like sit and down. She's perfect for a family with older kids who can join her in playtime adventures. When she's not out exploring, Malia enjoys lounging in the yard and chewing on her favorite toy - she's a pro at finding contentment in the simple things. While Malia prefers to be the only dog in the household, with proper introductions, she has the potential to be dog friendly. Plus, she's already potty trained, so you can skip the training phase and dive straight into making memories with your new furry friend. Ready for any and all adventures, Malia is excited to find her forever family. If you're looking for an active, loving companion to join you on life's journey, Malia is the one for you. Come meet her today and let the adventures begin! If you would like to know more about me, give us a call at (530)343-7917 x101, or fill out an application at buttehumane.org today! All of our available dogs are micro-chipped, vaccinated, spay/neutered and on preventatives for flea & tick and heartworms. BHS adoption counselors are here to help you find your perfect furry friend. Unlike “pass/fail” adoption applications, we strive to match people and animals through education and discovery. We accomplish this by conversation to create an effective, pleasant adoption experience – and most importantly, to make lasting matches.

Story
Meet Sahara! This beautiful girl is a vibrant and playful companion looking for an owner who is ready for a unique breed. At first glance, Sarah appears to be a black Shepherd but once you're up close you'll notice her 'blue' or silver coat and the black ticking throughout. Saraha is friendly with all people and enjoys being the life of the party, she is not quite ready to share the spotlight with another animal and should be the only pet in the home. With training, structure and socialization guidance she will skyrocket to be the best a dog can be. Come meet this beauty today.
