🐶 🐕 TOBY Male Border collie mix approximately 1.5 years, 42 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 Toby is an approximately 1.5-year-old Border Collie mix weighing in at a lean 42 pounds with all the classic traits that make this breed so special—intelligent, observant, and deeply tuned in to his environment. He’s the kind of dog who notices everything, thinks before he acts, and forms meaningful connections with his people. At heart, Toby is a sensitive soul. He thrives in calm, predictable environments and would be happiest in a quieter home and neighborhood where life moves at a more relaxed pace. He enjoys peaceful neighborhood walks where he can take in the world without feeling overwhelmed, and he’s a wonderful car companion, riding quietly and contentedly by your side. Toby has a lovely balance of energy. He enjoys getting out for walks and exploring, but he also settles beautifully in the home and is more than happy to relax during downtime. He is both crate trained and house trained, making him an easy and comfortable dog to live with day-to-day. He is highly food motivated and has a medium toy drive, which makes training both fun and rewarding. He enjoys engaging with his person and thrives when given opportunities to learn and work alongside you. Toby has a wonderful ability to learn and adapt, making him well-suited to align with his person’s lifestyle and goals. Because of his strong Border Collie traits, Toby is looking for an experienced herding-breed owner who understands how to support a thoughtful, sensitive dog. He would do best as the only dog in the home and is not a dog park kind of guy. He prefers a smaller circle, a steady routine, and a person who will advocate for his comfort. For the right person, Toby will be an incredibly rewarding companion—loyal, intuitive, and quietly affectionate in his own special way. If you have a calm home, an appreciation for the Border Collie mind, and are looking for a dog who will truly bond with you, Toby may be your perfect match. TOBY is micro-chipped, neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved application and wish to inquire, send an email to: adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have not filled out an application, or your application is more than 1 year old, fill out an application here: (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) TOBY is fostering in Orangevale in Sacramento County, CA.

Story
🐶 🐕 PERKINS (aka PERK) Special Needs Male Border collie Mix 7 years, 52 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 Hi, my name is Perkins – just call me Perk - and I am about 7 years young. My Mom thinks I am a Border collie mixed with some type of guardian dog because I watch over my family and pack mates. I have notified them TWICE of rattlesnakes in our yard, barking loudly while keeping my pack mates at a safe distance away. Mom says I am a hero dog, as we have little kids and lots of dogs in our yard that need protection from dangers like that. Mom says I am special needs because I have some incontinence issues. I don't really know what that means. I let Mom and Dad know when I have to go potty, but when I am done, Mom says I leak. We've tried some different medicines and diagnostics, and Dad agrees it really isn't bad. When I hear the Velcro separate on my diaper I know its “free time” in the house. I stand still until I feel that little pat on my backside to signal it’s secure. Mom uses washable diapers, but I would probably do fine with other types as well. I don't like leaving my homestead, so when it's time for my checkup I get something special to help me relax. Everyone at the Vet’s office loves me and tells me what a good boy I am. Speaking of love, I love to chase a tennis ball. I may or may not bring it back depending on my whim at that moment. I also love to eat. Give me food, give me treats, YAY. I sit nice for my meals, which I always eat in my crate. I sleep quietly in my crate, but it's not my favorite place, and I will warn you if strangers are lurking outside because that’s my job. Oh, if you have that white stuff that’s cold, wet, and covers the ground that would be fun. I had a blast the one time it “snowed” here, that’s what my hoomans called it. Dad says he took the cutest video ever when I kept poking my nose out the doggy door, then retreated because what the heck is that? But once I was nudged out the door we had so much fun. I have been with my foster Mom and Dad for a few years and have helped with many of the other dogs and puppies that have come through our home, but I would also be fine as an only dog. I do enjoy playing at the other dog’s level. I wrestle with Skittles, because she is my size and she can take it, but I am gentIe with smaller dogs, or dogs not interested in that sort of thing. I am super friendly and loyal once I get to know you. I can be very vocal when I want something or when I am trying to warn you about something. I tolerate Mom's inside cats, but I don't like any cats in my yard. Mom says I need a cat-free environment for their benefit as well as mine (whatever that means). If you think you would be interested in me, and would like to learn even more about what makes me special, please submit an application so you can talk to my foster mom and dad (because we all know dogs can’t talk). Thank You, Perk PERKINS is micro-chipped, neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to inquire about PERKINS, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration. Story
🐶 🐕 LOKI Male border collie Mix 5 years, 40 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 LOKI is 40 pounds of love and affection. He is approximately 5 years of age with a smooth, easy to maintain, black and white coat. LOKI adores people. He can think of nothing better than being loved on. In fact, he rolls over for belly rubs or stops at the door, turns around, and insists on pets before going out to do his business. He absolutely loves the attention and seeks physical contact companionship any time of day or night. We had friends over for game night, and we were very proud of how he behaved when meeting so many new people all at once. LOKI gets along well with other dogs, big or small. He loves to run and play, following his foster-siblings around wherever they go. When little puppy Coral visited, he took a special liking to her. Otherwise, he spends much of his time equally among foster siblings Perkins, Skittles, and Jack. Loki does show some herding tendencies and will try to round up anything on four legs. He pays far too much attention to the kitties and they are not fans, thus he may be best in a home free from felines. LOKI loves to play. One of his favorite games is playing fetch with a tennis ball. He will bring the ball back, but he is still learning to “drop it.” It’s almost like he is teasing you to get it from him. He has also never met a Frisbee he doesn’t like. He will run around the yard with it, playing keep-away while getting other dogs to chase after him. LOKI is at his best when his people are around. He can get anxious when we leave the house, though he is doing much better than when he first arrived. It is as if he were left alone a lot in the past, with not enough of the interaction and socialization he craves. He is more settled now that he knows he has the other dogs to lean on, and that we are coming back and will engage when we do. We also discovered he is much better off in a plastic crate than he is a standard wire crate. LOKI travels well. If he sees an open car door, he will hop in expecting to go for a ride. He generally rides in a crate but would probably be fine riding in a harness or seatbelt. LOKI is also house and crate trained. He has not had an accident in his foster home. He sleeps quietly in his crate all night, generally not making a peep until we are up or the other dogs are ready for morning business. LOKI sits on command but then will try to scoot closer to latch onto your leg and slowly crawl up your body if you let him. While he likes giving hugs, we are working to curtail that trait as it seems more of an effort to “hold on” than show affection. It is a work-in-progress, but he does understand “Off” and will respond. LOKI is a very active boy and acts much younger than his age, yet he does respond to “Settle” or “Enough,” going to lie down on one of the dog beds. LOKI may enjoy popular dog sports like agility, nose work, or even Treibball. Training is fun with him because he is equally praise and treat motivated. LOKI’S recall is quite good. Call his name or give a sharp whistle and he comes running. Loki can be sensitive to a harsh voices, so calm, clear direction works best with this boy. LOKI is a sensitive boy who needs the right mix of love, patience, and positive experiences to continue confidence building. He will do best in a home with at least one other dog that can pal around with and be his mentor. If you have love in your heart, the time he’d enjoy, and you understand the needs of a sensitive border collie, LOKI would love to meet you. Include him in all your activities and he will reward you ten-fold. LOKI is micro-chipped, neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to inquire about LOKI, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration. LOKI is fostering north of Corning in Tehama County, CA.

Story
🐕 🐕 CORAL Female border collie mix approximately 6 months, 23 lbs & #AVAILABLE – For more photos please click https://norcalbcrescue.org/featured/CORAL/ 🐕 🐕 This sweet little sea soul is an absolute darling of a girl. At 23 pounds and 6 months, CORAL is out to steal your heart. The veterinarian expects she will weigh 30-32 pounds when she is full-grown. Her smooth, soft white coat is highlighted with black spotted markings just emerging throughout her long body and cute ears. CORAL also has a darling signature mark over her left eye that we just love. In a couple of her photos, her ears hadn’t decided what they were going to do, but now they are tipped over all the time! CORAL is growing in curiosity and confidence daily. She sometimes takes a minute or two to check out someone new and make friends, and she appreciates when someone new lets her come to them instead of the other way around. She is a little bit shy, but not fearful. The staff at both vet clinics she’s visited could not get enough of her. She took her shots and microchip injection like a champ. Her favorite part was the treats she got for being such a good girl. She prefers meeting people one at a time, rather than in groups, but even her confidence in group settings is getting better; for instance, we have game night at her foster home every Friday. The first night she met the group, Coral was rather shy, but by the next Friday night she did much better. We had her out the whole evening. She had fun playing with our friends, who gave her lots of attention. The rest of the evening she just parked herself next to one of us waiting patiently to be petted and treated. She takes her treats very gently. She also has visited her foster mom’s workplace: a university English department. After a day or two, Coral was going into other faculty members’ offices on her own, making herself at home in the Dean’s office suite with all the staff, and greeting students in the hallways. We are very proud of her! CORAL enjoys bones and chew toys, couch time, and playtime with the big dogs. They have really helped accelerate her progress. She’ll follow the dogs outside without dawdling about and comes running with a short whistle. Mental stimulation and physical activities should continue her fast track to stardom. Because she takes her cues so well from her foster siblings, we want to place her in a home with a well-balanced, playful dog, from whom she could continue to learn and grow to be the best gal she can be. While she doesn’t need as much stimulation, exercise, and playtime as a “real” border collie, she is happiest when she gets to play off leash with another dog or with her people. With her dog friends, she has grown to love chasing and being chased! She walks leashed to a harness without pulling, so she might also enjoy joining leash walks; she is still learning the concept of staying on one side. She knows the sit command. Coral accompanied her foster brother to his canine scent work lesson, where she had a first lesson herself. She thoroughly enjoyed the lesson and might enjoy continuing to learn this fun dog sport. Coral is crate-trained and sleeps quietly all night long. In fact, this puppy is quiet as a mouse all the time. When she comes in from playing with her foster brothers and sisters, who are 3-4 times her size, she gets a drink, then heads right to her crate for a rest. She is doing well with her house-training, understanding to “go potty” right away when she’s taken outside. She can still have an occasional accident, if she is not taken out regularly. CORAL is very smart, mostly treat but also praise motivated, so continuing her training should be a blast. She mastered the doggy door almost immediately. Coral travels quietly in her crate with no signs of car sickness or stress. CORAL is started on her puppy vaccines, wormed, and microchipped. She is also on flea & tick and heartworm prevention. As a condition of puppy adoption, she will need to be spayed when she reaches approximately 6 months (specific time to be determined by your vet). In addition to the adoption fee, puppy adoption requires a $75 spay/neuter deposit. Upon our receiving the spay/neuter certificate from you, the deposit is refunded. If you have an approved application and wish to inquire, send an email to: adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have not filled out an application, or your application is more than 1 year old, fill out an application here: Adoption Application. CORAL is being fostered north of Sacramento County, CA.

Story
🐕 🐕 COCO Female border collie mix approximately 2.5 years, 52 lbs & #AVAILABLE – For more photos please click https://norcalbcrescue.org/featured/COCO/ 🐕 🐕 Meet Miss Coco! She is a 2.5-year-old, 52lb, BC/McNab mix with a easy care, tri colored smooth coat. She also has a docked tail that is about 6 inches long. Coco's favorite thing is her person. She wants to be with you, but is not too clingy and will happily settle near by. Second favorite is going for walks/runs, then balls and plush toys. Coco gets along with other dogs and has integrated well with her foster pack. She can be a little bit shy at first when meeting new dogs, but will warm up after a few minutes. She is the same with people. Give her 5 minutes, let her come to you and she will be your best friend in no time. Coco loves the water. She is a great swimmer and will bring back a ball or water toy. She is a medium to high energy girl who needs daily walks/runs/swims and then she has a great off switch and will settle nicely at home. Coco is a bit too attentive to the cat in her foster home and needs a cat free home. Coco travels well in a car with a harness and seatbelt clip or in a crate. She is happy to be crated during the day when her foster is away for a couple hours and she sleep quietly in her crate all night. She is fully potty trained with no issues. She walks well on a leash with a harness and would love to be your running/hiking buddy! She can sometimes startle at loud noises (like a big truck going by) while out walking, but she quickly recovers. She is not bothered by barking dogs or other dogs she meets on the street. Overall, she is a sweetheart of a girl who is a little sensitive, but given some extra time and patience she does very well. She is very food motivated and has some basic training. Sit, wait, come etc. Her recall needs a little work but is great if not too distracted. She is a smart girl who would love for someone to continue her training. She is also very agile, fast and could excel at dog sports. Coco is looking for an active household who wants to include her as part of the family. She will reward you with devotion, loyalty and the fun antics that come with life with a herding dog. COCO is micro-chipped, spayed, heartworm negative, on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved application and wish to inquire, send an email to: adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have not filled out an application, or your application is more than 1 year old, fill out an application here: Adoption Application. COCO is being fostered in Folsom in Sacramento County, CA.
