Sherlock is an 11-month-old Chihuahua mix weighing just 7.3 pounds, currently waiting for his forever home at Butte Humane Society. With his adorable brown and tan coat and bright, happy personality, this little guy is sure to steal your heart! Sherlock is very friendly and outgoing, always eager to meet new people and be part of whatever is going on. He has a sweet, lovable nature and truly enjoys being close to his humans, especially if that means being picked up and cuddled. Being held is one of his favorite things, and he’s happiest when he’s in your arms. He’s also very food motivated and eager to please, already showing off his skills with a solid “sit.” With his love for treats and positive attitude, he has great potential to learn even more. If you’re looking for a small, affectionate companion who will happily tag along for fun and snuggle up afterward, Sherlock might be your perfect match! Story
Meet Yuki, a 7-month-old Pitbull/Boxer/Pointer mix (breed is a best guess and not guaranteed) who is searching for a patient and loving family to help him grow into the amazing dog he’s meant to be. Yuki is available for adoption at Butte Humane Society. Yuki is a sweet and sensitive pup with a gentle soul. While he can be a little shy with people at first, other dogs are his comfort zone. He’s truly a “dog’s dog” and loves connecting with canine companions, quickly making friends and gaining confidence around them. Because of this, Yuki would do best in a home with another friendly dog, or with adopters who have a clear plan to add a second dog in the future. New environments can sometimes spook Yuki, so he’ll need a patient and understanding owner who will help him acclimate to home life. With consistency, kindness, and reassurance, he will continue to build confidence. Daily exercise, basic training, and positive socialization—always at Yuki’s pace—will help him thrive. Yuki may also do well with cats if slow and thoughtful introductions are used. Older kids who want to participate in his training and growth would likely be a great match, but a home with very young children may be overwhelming for him. He’ll also do best with a family who has the time to help him settle in, rather than a household where everyone is away working long hours. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who loves other dogs and just needs a little patience to shine, Yuki may be the perfect addition to your family. Come meet him at Butte Humane Society and see if he’s the friend you’ve been waiting for. 🐾Older Kids All dogs that are adopted from Butte Humane Society come microchipped, spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccines, placed on preventions for heartworm, and flea and tick-borne illnesses. Story
Piper is a 1-year-old, 44-pound Kelpie mix (best guess!) with a big personality and an even bigger heart. This friendly and outgoing girl loves meeting new people and is always ready to make a new friend. True to her active nature, Piper thrives outdoors and is happiest when she’s exploring, playing, or soaking up the sunshine. She has a playful spirit and would do best with a family who can keep her engaged and give her plenty of exercise and enrichment. Piper is also very food motivated, which makes her a great candidate for training. She’s eager to learn and will happily work for a tasty reward, making bonding and teaching new skills a fun experience. Beyond her playful side, Piper is incredibly sweet and affectionate. She loves pets and attention, and once she’s had her fun, she’s more than happy to settle in for some love. If you’re looking for an energetic, loving companion who’s always up for adventure and cuddles, Piper could be your perfect match! 💛 All dogs that are adopted from Butte Humane Society come microchipped, spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccines, placed on preventions for heartworm, and flea and tick-borne illnesses. Story
Skye is a 7-month-old pup we think may be a Border Collie/Cattle Dog mix—and whatever her exact mix is, it created one truly special girl. With her soft black-and-white coat and those absolutely stunning blue eyes, Skye turns heads everywhere she goes… but it’s her sweet, gentle personality that really steals hearts. At 43.6 pounds, Skye is a wonderful medium size, big enough for outdoor adventures, but still perfectly cuddle-sized. She came from a home with kids and has a naturally kind, loving spirit. She’s the type of dog who wants to be close to her people and will quietly soak up all the affection you’re willing to give. Skye can be a little shy or nervous when meeting new people or in unfamiliar environments. The world is still a big place for a young pup! But give her just a little time, a calm voice, and maybe a few tasty treats, and you’ll see her quickly start to relax. Once she feels safe, her true personality shines through affectionate, loyal, and oh-so-sweet. She is very food-motivated, which is such a wonderful trait for training. Skye is smart, eager, and ready to learn, and she’ll thrive with positive reinforcement and gentle guidance. Whether it’s learning basic commands, going on walks, or just figuring out her new routine, she’s the kind of dog who truly wants to make her person happy. Because she’s still young, Skye would love a home that can continue to help her build confidence and show her all the good things life has to offer. With patience, love, and consistency, she’s going to grow into an incredibly devoted and well-rounded companion. Skye is the kind of dog who will start off a little shy… and then become your shadow, your cuddle buddy, and your best friend. She’s just waiting for someone to see how special she is and give her the loving home she deserves 🐾💙 Her little heart is ready… she just needs her person. Adoption fee fully sponsored on behalf of Bella Jer Bear is a handsome brown and black pit who is 4 years old and weighs 63.6 lbs. He’s currently at Butte Humane Society after coming to us from another shelter, so we’re still getting to know him, but he’s already stealing hearts. Jer Bear is very sweet, incredibly affectionate, and a total cuddle bug. He still has some puppy-like playful energy and loves playing with toys just as much as he loves snuggling. He’s also very food motivated and already knows how to sit, making him eager and fun to work with. This great boy is looking for a caring, loving home where he can continue to learn, play, and soak up all the love he deserves. If you’re looking for a sweet, playful companion with a gentle heart, Jer Bear may be your perfect match. Story
Adoption fee fully sponsored in honor of Kevin Ward Come and take Shasta home! A 3-year-old 50 lb American Staffordshire Terrier mix, this girl is athletic, energetic, loves a good swim and is ready to take on an adventure. Each dog adopted from Butte Humane Society is spayed/neutered up to date on vaccines and preventatives, socialized and eagerly waiting their forever family. What my foster has to say: "I took Shasta for a bedtime foster, and she did fantastic! She rides in the car really well. She’s a bit toy-crazy, so any future adopter should have tough toys for her, as she loves to chew. She often brings her toy onto your lap to chew on, but if you tell her to go lay down with it, she listens right away. Shasta has excellent manners! She doesn’t jump up or get on counters. She’s potty trained and did great with regular potty breaks at my house. During dinner, she showed wonderful manners again, while my husband and I were eating, she just went and laid down quietly. At bedtime, she slept in the bed all night. She was a bit of a bed hog, but I didn’t mind! I think her ideal home would be one without other animals, and with older (teenage) children, a single adult, or a couple."
