Story
We are needing to rehome this sweet soul. Meet Axel. He is a neutered, almost four year old Great Pyrenes/Australian Shepherd. He has always been an inside dog. We have to admit that we are out of our element with this breed. We have always been a Labrador family and have never owned a Great Pyrenes before. Axel has such a playful personality, incredibly intelligent, and a wonderful protector. As much as we love him, we keep expecting him to behave like a Lab and yet he is not. He deserves to be in a family that understands the breed and can provide the perfect home for him. He is up to date on all of his shots and heartworm negative. He loves walks and laying his gentle head on your shoulder. He is not food aggressive, but good with our other dog. He has never been a livestock guardian, but guards our home well. We love him so.

Story
Floyd lived his first four years in a kennel too small for him, barely ever getting out of it. He's learning how to be loved in his foster home, and has come such a long way. He's a Lab and Mastiff mix who is almost 5 years old now. There's still a road ahead of dedication and training that he'll need, so we're searching for the right family that will be able to give him just that kind of love. Floyd is treat motivated, so he's responsive to training; but, does need to eat and drink separate from others, or needs to be the only pet in the home. He LOVES to play and run, and is a super toy chewer dog! His foster family is slowly getting to cuddle with him. It's all new to him so patience, understanding and love is the key to this fellow's heart. As are all EARS dogs, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and currently receiving monthly prevention for flea/tick and heartworm. If you're the right family for Floyd, please submit an adoption application via our website, www.effinghamanimalrescue.com.

Story
This petite little guy wants you to pick him. He is goofy and has a great personality. He is good with other dogs and needs a home with someone who will play with him every day and throw his toys for him. He would benefit from a home with another playful dog to keep him company. He is VERY treat motivated and will do just about anything for a biscuit. A little consistency and this boy could be trained to do just about anything. He loves being near people and wants all the butt scratches. He can be a little rambunctious when he hasn't gotten his energy out, but he is easily corrected and listens so well. We all just adore this goofy boy and know that you will too when you meet him. If interested in giving him his furever home fill out our adoption application on our website at Effinghamcountyhumanesociety.org

Story
Copper, an 8-yr old heeler mix, is looking for a new forever home. He knows basic commands like sit and shake, and is still playful but loves to lay on the couch and nap with you too. Copper gets along with other dogs, and doesn’t mind cats inside but is more curious about them outside. We think a home with older children who have dog experience would be best, as he's getting a little feisty in his old age. Copper has developed a bit of loud noise anxiety, and his foster family is working through it with him. He's an awesome dog looking for a place to chill. As are all EARS dogs, he is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm tested and on monthly preventatives for heartworm and flea/tick.If you'd like add Copper to your family, please submit an adoption application via our website, www.effinghamanimalrescue.com.

Story
Lucille was pulled from a local animal control's euthanasia list where she was found as a stray. We may not know anything about her past, but we know that she is going to have the best future with your help! We guesstimate Lucille to be around 4 years old and a pit mix of some kind. She is a beautiful red head just like her name sake, Lucille Ball. And just like Lucy, she is a real comedian! She will drown you in kisses upon meeting her and wants nothing more than to be close to her people. She is a real love bug. Lucy is completely potty trained, crate trained, and walks well on a leash, but keep in my mind she is still very strong! She is a shelter favorite and she just adores meeting new people. She would even be a great fit for a home with children. Lucille loves her people so much that she wants to be near them always. A home where she won't be left alone for long periods of time is ideal. Someone who works from home, a stay at home mom or dad, a retiree, has family where she can go during the day, or a couple that works split shifts would all be suitable options. Lucille needs a home without cats or other small animals. And she needs to be the only dog in the home. She is kind of like your possessive ex and loses her cool at the thought of having to share her owners with another dog. However, we promise she will love you forever and never break her promise to be your loyal companion for furever. Lucille will come spayed, microchipped, on monthly prevention, and current on vaccinations. If interested in meeting this sweetheart please fill out our adoption application on our website at Effinghacountyhumanesociety.org

Story
Elvis is two years now, and a sweetheart of a young dog. He's a mountain cur - catahoula mix, so has energy to burn! Perfect for an active family with a lot of ground. But, wow!, is he a lovely companion! He LOVES to run and play, yet is kennel trained too. Elvis is probably best in a home with older children since he doesn't quite know his size. LOL. He loves chews toys, and has such a good heart that loves people and other animals. An overall awesome dog. As are all EARS dogs, he is neutered and microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and is on monthly preventatives for heartworm and flea/tick.If interested in adding Elvis to your family, please submit an adoption application via our website, www.effinghamanimalrescue.com.
