Story
EXPERIENCED AND PATIENT ADOPTER ONLY Ozzie and his brother Archie were from a chihuahua neglect and hoarding situation and were surrendered to a shelter where they made no progress in a year and were close to euthanasia. I worked very hard with them and they're ready for a home of their own but they need a SPECIAL person who can take on their issues. Ozzie was by far the worse of the two but has come the farthest. He LOVES his person and he's opening up to new people but will probably still connect best to one person. Ozzie loves to be held like a baby. He's quite active and loves to hike and go for walks/runs. He is learning to play and enjoys some gentle wrestling. He has learned to give kisses. He would make a great companion for a young person or maybe couple who can be patient in earning his trust. He has been mostly potty trained but still will mark and he will poop on the floor when mad. He kennels well. He is a great dog but needs someone who appreciates that small dog life

Story
Meet Buddy! Buddy is a wonderful boy that is about 4 years old and roughly 60lbs. He was surrendered to us when the family dynamic changed in his home and they could no longer have him. He has bounced around a few homes in his life and is looking for a consistent permanent home to love on him. He did live successfully in the home with another dog, but can be reactive with new dogs. He could possibly live in a home with another dog with a proper introduction. He tends to chase cats, but not hurt them so that is up to the potential adopter on whether or not they think he would be a good fit if there are already cats in the home. He would do best in a home with older children or adults that will give him space while he's eating. Buddy is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped. If you are interested in adopting Buddy please fill out an application at al-van.org. *Some pet-finding websites aside from our own are very slow to update after an animal is adopted, and this is outside of our control. Story
Porkchop is a mellow, loving girl, but she is shy with new people. She's outgoing, affectionate, and playful once she knows you, so a potential adopter would need to be willing to spend some time with her in a meet and greet to get to know her...she's definitely worth it. She's the perfect dog to hang out quietly with you and to run around with you in the yard while she has the zoomies! Porkchop can be dominant with other dogs, but she is open to meeting new friends. Like any dog, she has her preferences! She does need to go to a home with no cats or small animals. Porkchop came to us heartworm positive, but she has been treated and has tested negative since completing treatment. As well as being heartworm negative, Porkchop is also spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations. If you'd like to meet and adopt this beautiful, happy girl, visit al-van.org/adopt to fill out an application.

Meet Knox! Knox came to us from another shelter so he could get a new set of eyes on him. He loves to play with other dogs! Once he's comfortable with someone he is a big lover. He takes longer to warm up to men than women and would do best in a home with older or no children. Knox is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and heartworm negative. If you are interested in adopting Knox please fill out an application at al-van.org/adopt. *Some pet-finding websites aside from our own are very slow to update after an animal is adopted, and this is outside of our control. Story
Meet Raisin! Raisin is an amazingly sweet lady. She came in as a stray and was unfortunately never reclaimed. We discovered after her intake that she was heartworm positive. She has since completed her treatment, and she is ready to settle with a loving family in her forever home! Raisin is a great walking companion, and she has even been a car model at our local Betten Baker dealership! She's a beautiful girl with a unique dilute brindle coat. She's eager for attention and loves to play. She's open to meeting other dogs. We estimate Raisin to be 4-5 years old and she weighs around 40lbs. Raisin is spayed, microchipped and vaccinated. If you are interested in meeting this amazing lady, please fill out an application at al-van.org/adopt. *Some pet-finding websites aside from our own are very slow to update after an animal is adopted, and this is outside of our control.
