Story
Lil & Phil are in a foster home! If you'd like to adopt this too-cute pair of besties, please email us at pets@michianapets.org to request an application. Okay, now back to info on these good pups! They are professional laugh-providers! Just LOOK how ridiculously cute they are! These besties came in together and we are really hoping we can get them adopted together! Initially, Lil and Phil are a bit timid when meeting new people. What we have found to be most successful is actually paying them little attention when meeting them! Less is more for Lil and Phil. When they realize they can approach whoever they want when they feel comfortable, their timidness seems to be outshined by curiosity. So, please be patient while they are learning to trust you. If you have another dog at home, they've done so great with playful pups! You wouldn't believe how quick they can both move! They're like tiny bursts of energy zooming all over! It's hilarious to watch them play with other dog friends! We haven't observed them around kiddos but would think if kiddos were about 12ish and up that would make them feel safest. They ask for no kitty friends. Trust us when we tell you that they are the most loving and affectionate darling pair of good dogs once they trust someone. It's like they are over-the-moon for their people. They form the sweetest connections. Lil and Phil each weigh about 12-15 pounds, are about one year old and are spayed/neutered, respectively.

Story
This lovable gal is Zoey! She is a complete love and is currently living in a foster home. Since her foster mom knows her best, here is what she knows: “Zoey is doing great with us! She’s such a mellow girl overall but has been getting some spring back in her step recently and is happy and energetic! She is perfect on a leash and completely house trained, plus she knows a number of commands. She likes to play tug of war or fetch but is also very happy to sit on the couch together and watch a movie. She doesn’t seem to have any issues with being home alone while we’re out for the day. She’s been eating well and has no problem taking her pill (Zoey has hypothyroidism). She is just a great dog in every way! I think she’s going to be a really great match for someone. She is basically the perfect dog: not too loud/barky, but barks when a stranger comes to the door. Does great on walks, really listen and understands commands, likes to sit with you but isn’t super clingy, does fine at home during the work day. She frolics when we go outside and loves to play! She is great on a leash and has been so happy in the Chikaming preserves - she does great in the car too. She hasn’t been around other dogs since I got her, but she loves to play tug of war, so I think she might enjoy a playful dog-sibling.” -Zoey’s foster mom. Zoey has lived with dogs before and did best with dogs who were relatively chill and easy-going. She does wonderful being crate-trained. She knows how to sit, stay, come and lay down. She LOVES treats and is so motivated to work for them. She loves car rides and walkies. Children in the home should be about 10ish and up. Zoey has done well with her kitty foster-sibling with a slow introduction. She will need to be on medication given that she has hypothyroidism. The medicine helped her immensely and her quality of life is so much improved since being on it; don’t worry, though! It costs less than $1/day; potentially even less if you buy in bulk! Zoey also has a foot drag/stumble sometimes with a bit of a head tilt. We have consulted with a neurologist and, without an MRI to potentially diagnose, we do not know the source of her neurological symptoms. That being said, she is just as capable as any other dog and there are times when her symptoms aren’t present or noticeable. Being around Zoey is like an instant happiness booster. We agree with her foster mom—she pretty much is the perfect dog! Please email us at pets@michianapets.org to request an adoption application. Zoey is about six years old, is spayed and weighs around 90 pounds or so.

Story
Every dog has something that makes them totally unique...Sasha has the most adorable "A-WOO" when she brings you her favorite toy. She loves to play fetch and when she brings her toy back to you, she "awoo's" to sound the alarm that she is happy and is so proud of her toy. She comes to open arms for snuggles in about 1.2 seconds. She knows how to sit and is very interested in any treat that comes her way. Sasha is the biggest lovebug. For her health, it will be very important for whoever adopts Sasha to get her to a healthy weight under the direction of a vet. Sasha currently weighs 92 pounds. Ideally, she should weigh about 65-70 pounds. Sasha's ideal day would consist of a walkie, a nap, a cuddle session, yummy meals and more cuddling. She's very attuned to those around her and is so relational. We've noticed that Sasha has some allergies—we don't know the extent, but we want to make sure that whoever adopts her has a heads-up and can get her vet care, if needed. It would make Sasha happiest to be the only furbaby in the home; she is a total princess and loves all attention and affection focused on her. We think she'd be an amazing fursister to kiddos around 7ish and older. She is about three years old and is spayed. You won't ever question how much you are loved when you are around Sasha. We adore her.

Story
She's 38 pounds. She's about one year old. She is the HAPPIEST, wiggliest, most welcoming good girl. She prances around so lightly on her little tippie-toes! She is Twinkie! Her smile makes us smile. Her eagerness to say hello to everyone makes our hearts happy. Basically, Twinkie is sunshiny bright and it is impossible not to be equally happy around her. Twinkie is an energetic babe and we think she would love to find an adopter who loves daily walkies like she does and wants a pup to be their strolling buddy. She's such a nice medium-sized dog. It works well because she believes she is a lap dog and loves to be in your arms when invited! We're still getting an idea of Twinkie's preferences with other dog friends. Being around kitties wasn't her favorite thing, so she asks for no kitty friends! Twinkie hasn't met a stranger she didn't immediately love yet, so we think she would be the most loving fursister to sturdy kiddos about 6ish and up. Twinkie is spayed. So...what are you waiting for?! Come adopt her!

Meet Halo. She is about 3½ months old, is spayed and is available for adoption at Michiana Humane Society on Thursday, May 14th from 2-6pm CST! We are unsure of her breed(s), but estimate she will end up being a large mixed-breed pup—possibly 50-60 pounds or more; however, that is just our assumption. She currently weighs around 21 pounds. She is a very lovable and reserved sweetheart. We would love for whoever adopts her to be willing to continue to socialize her as that will definitely set her up for success! The first step in adopting Halo is to come and meet her during her adoption debut. Here are our adoption policies and procedures: https://michianapets.org/adopt.
