Story
All of the animals we post deserve the best homes. But some of them have been waiting much longer than others. Meet Leo Leo is a big, beautiful 4-5 year old American Bulldog/ Am Staff mix coming in at a whopping 105 pounds. Leo was returned years ago to HSAR when his mom became very ill. The other family members took Leo to training classes to hopefully get him to be able to live in a house with another dog and cat but ultimately, it was decided to return him and he has been patiently waiting ever since. Leo did well with his trainer and learned several commands and how to walk without pulling on a leash. He is a very strong dog and recommended to be the only animal in the home. He is very smart and with some work, will quickly remember his training.  Leo needs a confident, experienced owner. We recommend older kids because of his size. He is house trained. Leo gets along with people but a proper introduction will benefit him. Leo loves his Jolly ball and he has a plastic pool in his kennel run that he loves laying in. This sweet boy has been waiting far too long to find his forever family. Story
Oh sweet Nash. This boy deserves the world and we would love to find the right place for him. If you’re looking for a loyal protector, Nash is your guy. He is a laid back dog that just wants to be with his people and play tug or fetch with his jolly ball. He is a 4 year old mixed breed with some lab, hound and terrier.  Nash has ignored outdoor cats where he lives currently but out of an abundance of caution, he would probably prefer to be the only animal in the house. He did previously have another male dog roommate that he did well with, but it’s been a while.  Nash was surrendered back because he was leary of his family’s neighbor kids coming and going offen. He is a protector of his people and overwhelmed by lots of new people coming over. What we would love for Nash is someone who wants a dog that will be their best friend. Someone who doesn’t have a lot of company that would overwhelm Nash. This boy doesn’t need a ton of space to run, he just needs someone to love him and a soft place to lay his head. Are you the right home for this beautiful boy?   If you are viewing this pet's profile on Petfinder or Adopt-a-Pet,.please use the application link at the bottom of the profile to apply. He's an all around sweet guy that is just happy to be here and always wanting to climb into your lap. He is potty trained via a doggy door and working on leash walking, but it's very clearly a new concept to him. He loves to lay out in the yard and soak up the sun. Story
Meredith is a 4 month old Aussie/husky that recently came in from Kentucky. She is so sweet and soft and wants so badly to just let her puppy side show. This litter seems to have had little to no human contact before arriving and although they are still quite scared, Meredith has been opening up the quickest. She will let you pet her, give her belly rubs and now will even climb up in your lap. Meredith will need time and patience while she continues to let her guard down and learn how to be a puppy. She is potty trained via a doggy door currently. She lives with her litter mates and another foster puppy and there are 2 larger dogs in the home that she has played with. Meredith has seen cats and doesn't seem to care either way about them. She likes kids but will likely be shy with them in the beginning. Despite the fear these pups have displayed, they have not shown an ounce of aggression. This girl just wants to be loved and be able to show love in return.  If you are viewing this pet's profile on Petfinder or Adopt-a-Pet,.please use the application link at the bottom of the profile to apply. Story
Marcella aka Marcy is a 3 yr old female Havanese.  She is a funny little sweetheart. Her name means “Little Warrior” She had a rough start to life as a retired breeder.  She came to her foster home in November and foster mom doesn’t believe she had ever been inside a home before she came to them. She would not eat out of a dog bowl and her foster family had to pour her food on the floor before she would eat.  Now she runs to her place to eat when she hears food going into her bowl.  She had to go outside with a long leash because she didn’t trust any people and refused to come back in unless her foster mom opened the door and walked into the kitchen.  She’s doing great on potty training but does need her new family to continue to work with her.  She loves going for car rides and looking out the window, she enjoys walks but she does best if you take the same way each day until she gets used to the new sounds.  She is not a fan of being picked up until she trusts you.  If you pick her up before she feels safe with you, she will freeze or start to tremble.  Marcy will need her forever family to understand they will need to earn her trust and she will not immediately go to them.  Her foster mom can tell you some things they did to slowly show her that she is safe, loved and helped to build her confidence. Marcy needs a home that is more quiet and calm.  Loud voices and fast movements make her fearful so a home without young children would be best.  Marcy loves other calm dogs.  There are several dogs of varying sizes and cats in her foster home and Marcy does well with all of them and likes to snuggle with several of the dogs.   Marcy’s forever family will need to go slow, give her space, build her confidence and understand it could take several months before she trusts you.  However the first time she wags her tail and walks to you when you get home so you can pet her, your heart melts and you know she trusts you.
