Story
Ellie is soon to be `paw-roled` from our Paws in the Pen program in partnership with the New Mexico Corrections Department! Each dog is paired with inmate trainers and enrolled in an 8-week training program that is designed to equip the dog with a nice foundation of training that will help them succeed in their new home. Each of these dogs will go home potty and crate trained with a whole list of cues and basic behaviors; to ensure a successful adoption, we are providing four training sessions to adopters, so you can learn what your dog knows, and an invitation to weekly discounted drop-in classes. These dogs also go home with a biothane leash and collar, 6 months of heartworm prevention, are fully up-to-date on all vaccines and medications, and are spayed and neutered.Ellie is a one-and-a-half-year-old sweetheart with a heart of gold to match her golden brindle socks and that irresistible kiss of sun on her cheeks. She’s as loving as they come and fully prepared to soak up all the affection you’re willing to give.Ellie believes everyone is a friend she just hasn’t met yet. When she spots someone new, her ears slide back and her whole body breaks into happy wiggles as she eagerly waits to say hello. Affection is her love language, and she gives it freely—with soft eyes, and joyful energy. She enjoys the company of other dogs and could likely live with a cat with a proper, gradual introduction. Ellie also has a curious side and loves to watch—and occasionally chase—birds, finding endless entertainment in their fluttering antics.Ellie would thrive in a home that offers the best of both worlds: fun adventures to explore together and quality family time relaxing at home afterward. If you’re looking for a loving companion who’s equal parts playful, gentle, and devoted, Ellie is ready to fill your home with warmth, wiggles, and unconditional love.

Margot is soon to be `paw-roled` from our Paws in the Pen program in partnership with the New Mexico Corrections Department! Each dog is paired with inmate trainers and enrolled in an 8-week training program that is designed to equip the dog with a nice foundation of training that will help them succeed in their new home. These dogs also go home with a biothane leash and collar, 6 months of heartworm prevention, are fully up-to-date on all vaccines and medications, and are spayed and neutered.Margot is a 1-year-old, 25-lb bundle of love, cuddles, and pure personality. She’s got a silly, quirky side that will keep you smiling—and once she decides you’re her person, she’s all in.Margot may take a minute to feel comfortable with new people and environments, but give her a little time and you’ll see her confidence bloom. Once she settles in, she prances around like she owns the place (because, obviously, she does). She’s great with other dogs and can live with cats too—though fair warning, she may attempt to lick a cat’s face clean if given the chance. We also strongly suspect she might be part meerkat, thanks to her impressive ability to stand straight up on her hind legs and survey her kingdom.Margot is a true “nose-forward” dog who lives for a good sniff and would likely excel in scent work or nose games. When she’s not busy exploring the world one smell at a time, she’s happiest being close to her people—occupying laps, handing out kisses, and soaking up all the love.Margot would thrive in a home where she can be around her family often, with plenty of affection, companionship, and faces to smooch. If you’re looking for a loyal little shadow with a big heart and a goofy streak, Margot just might be your girl.

Story
Olaf is a 3-year-old husky with a gentle heart and a playful spark. On leash, he can be a little funny—he’ll get excited, then unsure, and suddenly burst into zoomies or throw in a playful bow as if to say, “Wait… are we playing?” It’s all part of his charming, goofy personality.Olaf is friendly and truly enjoys head and neck rubs, leaning in when he feels comfortable. He’s the kind of dog who wants to connect, but you can tell he’s still figuring out that the world is a safe place. He’ll engage, then politely back off, taking things at his own pace. With patience, kindness, and a calm home, Olaf will blossom into a loyal, loving companion—one who just needs a little reassurance to know he’s finally safe and home.
